WFCA Scholarship Criteria
graduation

One of the goals of the WFCA is to provide scholarships for deserving graduating senior football players.  Here are the criteria decided at the WFCA meeting on January 9th.

Four Scholarships of $200 each. (or a four way split of funds if less than $800 in treasury)

1. College Bound Seniors

2. Citizenship

3. Leadership

4. Academics

5. Ability

Two of the scholarships will be for those players who participated throughout youth and four years of high school.  The  other two scholarships are players who need only be a graduating senior.  The Youth Football officers will provide information on the eligible recipients to the varsity football staff.  The varsity football  staff will make the decisions on the recipients based on the criteria and youth football officers' information.  The recipients will not be announced until after the Senior Awards Night in June.

Sports Fairs will Return!

The dates for this year's sports fairs are March 19th @ Ostrander and March 20th for Leptondale and Plattekill. The times last year were 9:05 to 10:30am (subject to change this year)  We hope to have grades 2-6 present for these dates.  We need coaches to assist on these mornings.

Presentations are made by the WFCA at these Elementary Schools during the scheduled Sports Fairs. These Sports Fairs had the varsity level sports programs making presentations to the elementary students. Head Varsity Football Coach Brian Vegliando has highlight film's and will bring equipment to these sports fairs in the elementary schools. Brian and/or Varsity coaches have conducted this presentation in conjunction with the Wallkill Youth Football Program to recruit young players for youth football. Board Members of the WFCA will assist in these presentations. We want to get the youth of Wallkill to play together as a unit from elementary school through their senior year of high school. We are working together as one K-12 program to get the kids focused on playing on Friday Nights. The Sports Fairs are a model pilot of an event that will continue to grow in the future. The vision of this board has lead this event to the benefit of all the youth and sports programs in Wallkill. We want to continue to be leaders in our community as advocates of our children and sports.

Youth Football Registrations will be on monday March 23rd from 6pm-9pm and saturday April 4th from 9am-12pm at the High School cafeteria

Coaches Mini-Clinics
Mini-Clinics for all Coaches will be scheduled soon. The clinics will be presented by Coach Vegliando and his staff. The topics for these clinics will be decided by the youth coaches in the survey they received. These clinics will be held to get all of our teams on the same page and in the same direction as one program.

Wallkill Summer Skell will be announced soon.
