Eagles Soar Yucaipa Invitational

Sooo, the girls and boys teams both ran well this Saturday with both of them finishing in 2nd place.  It was the best finish that we have ever had at the Yucaipa Invitational.  We are excited to say that the team is getting closer and closer in the times, and that means that as a team we will have a lower score.  The top five girls only had a 1:03 spread and the boys had a 1:44 spread which shows a huge improvement from the last two weeks.  The after team activities where the runners celebrated with fun for all including the Spartans from 300 and John McCain.

Dana Hills--Day of PRs & Fun in the Sun

Overall the team had a good day.  On the girls’ side, the Jr/Sr team came in 2nd, and the Fr/So team came in 4th.  The boys Seniors finished 6th, and the  Freshman came in 4th overall in their heat.  That was not all because from the youngest to the oldest runners on the team we had 20 PRs, and that shows that your hard work is paying off.  Then we celebrated by going to the beach, and I hope everyone had fun there as well.  Now that the times are becoming more consistent we are going to do more group (pack) work and hills to get ready for Yucaipa, the La Sierra league meet course and Mt. SAC.

Valley View Shocks Inland Valley League

Because of a good "team" effort the Boys and Girls came in 1st in both varsity races, and some strong top finishes in the JV races.  Overcoming illness and injury everyone came together and finished strong, with some surprizes that helped the team meet one of their goals.  Now just think about what will happen when the team is healthy and ready to go for it all.  Keep working hard and overcoming all the obsicles and we will succeed.

The Girls Varsity finished first for the 2nd year in a row.  Individually Nez, Des and Erika all won their races, and that is the first time that has ever happened.  The Girls Varsity had 5 girls in the first 8, and the Boys Varsity had 3 in the top 6, which was a very impressive sight to see.  The times are below and the pictures are in the album area to the left.

Training Trip Recap

Each year the team goes on a training trip to do mainly three things:  Train two times a days to become better runners, to get away from the Moreno Valley and go somewhere a little more fun, and to bond and become not just a team, but a family.  This year the team went to San Onofre Beach and on all three accounts this year could be thought of as a success.  The team trained their hardest, and that was shown in the ability of each individual to reach a new level of running strength.  After seeing all the fun the team had at the beach you could tell that it was good to get away from home for a while.  The team worked together to complete different tasks in running and team building that showed that they are becoming more successful in creating a family atmosphere.  Two examples of this were the relays around the baseball field and the water sprints, because each group was not just cheering on their own members, but the runners in the other groups as well, and many of the other people at the campgrounds said that you inspired them.

There are team pictures of the different activities on the albums part of the website, so take a look.
