Valley Tigers 93: Welcome
Saturday, March 7
There will be no Championship game return this year. The Tigers were beaten by the Hulmeville Thrashers 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs.
"Of all the e-mails I send (and you know I send a ton) this is the one I hate sending, the end of our soccer season. As usual I had a blast this year. I want to say thank you for allowing me to coach your boys yet again, some of them have been with us now for 7 years.
We were very successful winning our division in outdoor. We challenged in tournaments but fell just one game short. We were able to welcome a new player, Darwin, and he fits right in. We did not finish where we wanted to in indoor, but hopefully learned enough about what we need to do to challenge next year in the HS division if we play.
A great big thanks goes out to Coach Jill and Coach Pierre. Both have extremely busy schedules with work and their other kids but were always there for us from August when we started practice until last night.
We have a few options for next year if you guys are interested in doing it again. I will gather that information and send it out to you soon."
Thanks You and GO TIGERS!

The Tigers had a date with the PSC Neptunes and couldnt have been more ready. As usual the Tigers gave up the first goal but that didn't stop the Tigers' attack.
With about 2:00 minutes left in the game and the Tigers down 3-2 the Neptunes got a breakaway and Nate came out to challenge. The ensuing collision between Nate and Blaine brought Nate to the floor and eventually a diagnosis of a broken tibia. Twelve weeks in a cast and not a shot of being in goal during the playoffs.
Ryan K and Garret scored for the Tigers but the end result was a 4-2 loss.
Dylan will be slipped into the keeper's role next week against the Hulmeville Thrashers in the first round of the playoffs after playing excellent in two previous games this year subbing for Nate.
MVP Awards Handed Out
Co-MVP awards for the indoor season were given out before the game to:
Darwin M
Garret F
Ryan K

The Tigers got the monkey off their backs by beating the Hulmeville Thrashers 3-2. After being down 2-0 at halftime the Tigers tightened up the D and received 2 goals from Darwin and 1 from Zach H. The man to man defense frustrated the Thrashers the entire second half and took them totally out of their normal controlled passing attack.
Bring on PSC!

The Tigers played the Hulmeville Thrashers for the forth time in the past year and again lost by a single goal. Their current record against this opponent is 1-3. The Thrashers have defeated the Tigers in two previous championship games.
The game went back and forth with neither team holding more then a one goal lead at any point. The Tigers got goals from Ryan K, Darwin and Ryan S but in the end lost the game 4-3.
You can bet they will meet again in the playoffs this year and the Tigers are due for a different result.

The much anticipated rematch with the Cobras was less physical then the first game played just two weeks earlier. The Tigers juggled their lines in an effort to increase offensive output. Ryan K moved to mid-field on a line with Zach H and Francois moved to D on a line with Tyler. Both changes paid off as both players excelled in their new position. The Tigers peppered the Cobras goalie all night with shot after shot but he was up to the task and kept the Cobras in it until the end.The Tigers got goals from David on a beautiful crossing pass in front of the net from Andy, Zach H and Ryan K. Final score: Tigers 3 Cobras 2.

The Tigers lost 2-1 to the PSC Neptunes in a battle of the last two undefeated teams in the division. Nate played spectacular in goal and kept the team in it until the final whistle. The defense was equally up to the task holding the Neptunes to their lowest goal total of the season. The offense simply was not able to generate enough quality scoring chances to make a difference. Zach H got the lone goal for the Tigers on a free kick.
The team will regroup and come back stronger next week in a rematch with the Cobras, who they beat 5-3 just two weeks earlier.
Friday, January 23
The Tigers played the oversized U-16 Falls Cobras and won the VERY physical game 5-3. Nate made his season debut after sitting out the first two games on the IR. Ryan L played amazing in D all night. The Tigers got two goals each from Zach H & David. Their 5th goal was a bit of a redemption goal from Garret. A Cobra defender was jawing at him all night. He was then able to slip past that same defender and push one past the keeper. The team can live without the taunting penalty but overall they were very glad to see him score it.
This win sets up a battle of the unbeatens next week vs the PSC Neptunes. This is sure to be quit a game and will decide first place in the early season.
"Eleven average kids playing as a team will always beat eleven stars playing as individuals."
Friday, January 16
The Tigers dominated the Palumbo Panthers 4-1 to move to 2-0 on the young season. Dylan once again was in goal and combined with the defense frustrated the Panthers all night. The Tigers got two goals from Ryan K and one each from Darwin and Ryan S.
Friday, January 9
The Tigers opened their 2009 indoor season with a convincing win over the LB Land Sharks 5-2. Dylan subbed in goal for Nate and was spectacular. The Tigers got goals from Jeremy, Francois, Ryan S & Darwin. Then with 30 seconds left in the game, Garret fired a long looping shot from the Tigers zone that bent into the left top corner over the Land Sharks goalies extended arms.
