  FAQ

When Does Practice Start?

Practice can begin on August 1st. Some teams may opt to start a little later in the month.

If we live out of district can we play for Valley Center?

Out of district players are not eligible to play.

When will we get equipment?

Equipment is usually handed out around the end of July or beginning of August. Your coach should contact you when it is time to pick it up. All equipment will be turned in at the end of the season

What is not provided that I need to buy?

A good pair of rubber football cleats is not required but recommended. Each player will also need a practice jersey or large t-shirt to wear over his shoulder pads.

Does my son need a physical?

Physicals are recommended but not required. Coaches would like to know any physical limitations your child has or special needs such as an inhaler.

How many times per week will my son have to practice?

Generally 2-3 times per week for about 2 hours each session. In pre-season they may go as many as 4 times per week.

When is the first game and how long is the season?

The first game is the Saturday after Labor Day. Games will run through the last weekend in October.

What can my child do to get ready for the season?

The best thing to do is spend time outdoors in June and July to get acclimated to the heat. The first month of football is extremely hot and it will take awhile for your child to get used to wearing a helmet and pads. Any camp or activity that involves running, jumping, and hand/eye coordination is good.

Where can a parent learn more about football?

The internet has several good youth football sites. Barnes and Noble has a really good book called Coaching Youth Football. The book is illustrated and shows the basics.
