Josh Linen goes on to CIF Finals!
Roman 3200 leader
Roman leads the 3200 from the start

Congratulations to all who qualified and competed at CIF Finals and to Josh Linen who goes on to CIF Finals in the 3200 meter run!

Talal Khan and Geo Popoca gave it their best in the 1600 meter run with Talal placing 15th overall and Geo, 31st overall. Talal ran a fine 4:26 effort and gained valuable experience as a sophomore running with the "big boys"! Geo was very aggressive and stayed in it as long as possible, he has really improved his speed this year!

The 3200 meter run was exciting as all three Tigers were in the first heat. Roman Pena took the lead hoping to run away with the race before the kickers started but a sideache ruined his plans. Talal came back in the 3200 and finished 1 second from his best time and again, the experience of CIF racing will benefit him greatly in the next two years. Talal went from freshman PR's of 4:41 and 10:07 to 4:23 and 9:41 his sophomore year!

Josh Linen patiently worked his way through the pack the first 1600 meters then positioned himself well for the last four laps, finishing 4th in his heat and qualifying for CIF Finals next Saturday! Congrats, Josh!

Talal wins 3200
Talal is Empire League Champion in 1600 and 3200!
Golden West College proved to be a great venue for the Tigers as most ran their best races of the year at League Prelims and Finals.

The boys varsity 1600 was a highlight as Talal Khan, Josh Linen and Geo Popoca finished 1-2-3 with Roman Pena adding a point for his 6th place finish!   Geo ran his best race of the year outkicking a strong runner from Loara whom he had never beaten and recorded a PR tie of 4:28! Talal and Josh looked very good controlling the race from the front on the final laps and finished with 4:24 and 4:25 times! Talal and Geo will be running the 1600 meter event at CIF Prelims. Josh will drop the 1600 to concentrate on the 3200 meters.

Talal Khan came back and won the varsity 3200 meters with Roman Pena 2nd, Josh Linen 3rd and Geo Popoca 4th! Great dominant effort by the Tigers. The top 3 will run the event at CIF.

The Tigers placed 7th in the 4 x 800 Invitational despite a dropped baton due to interference by a runner who failed to clear the track. Josh Linen started the team out with a personal record 2:01 leg and just as he was passing the baton to Talal Khan, a tired runner stopped to catch his breath in lane 1 (duh), Josh gave him a good bump and Talal quickly retrieved the baton and started his leg of the relay. Talal recorded a 2:04 time from a dead stop and handed the baton off to Geo Popoca. Geo ran his best 800 meters, 2:04 and passed off to Roman Pena.
