Frosh warmups lag
Freshman get ready with strides
Sunday, September 12
Juniors place 1st at Laguna Hills Invite!
Geo uphill lag
Geo leads juniors up 1st hill

The juniors won the team plaque as they did last year as sophomores. This amazing group has stuck together for three years now training and supporting each other and continue to improve. David Zhang, Geo Popoca, and Roman Pena were the top finishers placing 7th and 9th and 10th. Not far behind were Adrian Meza, Erik Miranda and Cameron Chubbuck in 16th, 17th and 18th place! Ignacio Lopez and Christian Franco also took home medals.

The freshman are a promising group with good numbers and talent. The kids who trained in the summer were very competitive and were led by Gerzon Blanco in 5th, Juan Valadez in 8th and Angel Aguirre in 15th. It is going to be exciting to see how strong this group can get in two months with regular training.

Nick Hariri and newcomer Saurin Gandhi led the sophomores with 13th and 34th place. The senior race was really exciting as Daniel Davisson flexed his muscles taking the lead after the mile and finishing well. Phillip ran a PR on his way to a fine 14th place.

Juan Valadez and Sammy Vazquez are the first members of the 2004 "Hurl Club"! Way to give it up for the team, guys!

Team places 2nd at Sunny Hills Invitational!

The varsity team dropped 2 minutes from their team time of last week and are slowly getting into race form! Junior, Roman Pena highlighted the meet with a first place finish in a personal best time, 16:06. He won with panache, leading the last two miles and finishing with a kick! Geo ran tough also in that race, placing 4th. Erik Miranda and Cameron Chubbuck looked good as our #4 and #5 scorers, also from the strong junior class.

The freshman continue to improve with everyone bettering their times of a week ago! Angel Aguirre was our intrepid leader this race and led Gerzon and Juan around the course steadily moving up. Unfortunately, someone led this group off-course for some 20 to 30 seconds near the finish but, we'll just call it extra-credit! Edgar Veliz, Talal Khan, Brett Miller and Ivan Cisneros were also very impressive.

Nick Hariri ran a huge PR, taking a minute off his previous best, to drop to 17:27! He just missed the top 10 in sophomore race. Saurin, Tyler and Sammy also pr'd.

Seniors, Daniel Davisson, Jose Aldama and Phillip Hackett worked together the first half of the race. Jose and Phillip both finished with their all-time best times.

Tigers Take Home Trophy's from Huntington Beach Invite!

The varsity boys placed 2nd to Torrey Pines High School (ranked 4th in Division I San Diego Section) in an exciting race between two pack running teams. The Tigers were led by Roman Pena who finished 2nd overall and the fastest junior. Geo continued his consistent streak as our #2 runner each race with a fine run for 6th place! Daniel joined our pack of juniors this week and was our #3 runner in 7th place, followed by David Zhang (12th), Jose Aldama (17th), Ignacio Lopez (23rd) and Cameron Chubbuck (25th).

Phillip Hackett and Adrian Meza went 1-2 in the JV race with Christian Franco not far behind in 4th place! Nathan Laub and Craig Wojciak were the final scorers for the JV's who finished two points out of 1st place!

Josh Linen ran an awesome 2004 debut race placing 2nd with Nick Hariri not far behind to lead the frosh/soph team to 1st place in a meet record setting team time! Freshman Gerzon Blanco, Juan Valadez and Angel Aguirre ran brilliantly again this week to contribute as the #3 through 5 runners.

The JV Girls took home the 3rd place trophy and were led by Ayn Learn, Stacey Seymour, Sulema Reyes, Lisa Hernandez and Mallory Naso. Varsity teammates, Sarah Garcia and Ana Piro continue to excell!

Boys FS and JV 1st, Varsity 2nd at Empire League Meet!

Christian Franco got the team rolling with a great breakout performance to lead the first race of the day, JV Boys. Christian ran a personal record time of 17:01 over the bog-like grass and undulating terrained course at Craig Park. Cameron Chubbuck was 3rd, Ignacio "One-Shoe" Lopez was 4th, Adrian Meza 5th and Nathan Laub cinched the win with an 11th place showing. Omar Reyes, Christian Montanez and Sammy Vazquez also ran PR's in this race.

Josh Linen won the Frosh/Soph race confirming his return to good running form with a fine 16:50. Nick Hariri won a gutsy battle to earn 2nd place. Freshmen, Juan Valadez 5th, Angel Aguirre 7th, and Edgar Veliz 11th ran brilliantly to secure a win for the Tigers. Running PR's for the FS were: Nick, Juan, Edgar, Miguel Diaz, Saurin Gandhi, Ivan Cisneros, Anthony Hernandez, Erick Pacheco, Raj Patel, Chris Savinon, Francisco Leon, and Omar Arellano.

The Varsity boys were led by race winner, Roman Pena who dueled Orange Lutherans Erik Ricca to the final turn. Roman had one extra unanswered surge to run his best time of 15:40 for the victory. Despite having an off-day, the Varsity finished only 2 points behind Orange Lutheran. It will be an exciting rematch at League Finals! David Zhang, Philip Hackett and Jose Aldama recorded PR's to help the cause.

The girls Varsity and FS finished 3rd, their highest placing since relocating into the Empire League! The varsity girls were led again by Sarah Garcia and supported with great runs by Ana Piro, Ericka Valadez, Samantha Guzzi, Emily Israel, Denise Salceda and Ayn Learn. Congrats Girls!!!

Thank you to Mrs Linen for all the pictures! See "photo albums" for more.
