The girls team was led by Ayn Learn who finished 9th in the sophomore race with a time of 20:14! Freshman, Sarah Garcia finished an impressive 11th of 102 girls in her race. Team Meets Billy Mills at Mt SAC
Billy Mills and Team
The team got an opportunity to meet 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills at Mt SAC following the outdoor viewing of the movie "Running Brave" on Friday, October 24th! He was generous with his time and his sincere message of having dreams and goals and going after them in the face of adversity. He is an inspiration! Thank you Mr. Linen for help in driving the team there.

The weather and fires made Saturdays Mt SAC Invitational a little bit of a disappointment, but we were able to practice the course and get ready for CIF! Congratulations to Josh Linen who finished first in the freshman 2 mile course run and won a cow bell! Thanks so much to Sarah's parents who fed us an awesome lunches and provided drinks too.

Our thoughts go out to those who lost their homes in the fires, that is the real tragedy of the weekend.

Roman finish prelims
Roman, David and Erik head to the finish! (Kirby Lee photo)
For the 6th straight year, the Varsity Boys have advanced to the CIF Finals! Of the 16 remaining teams in Division II, 7 will qualify for the State Meet held in Fresno.

Jesus Salazar led the Tigers with a strong and relaxed race finishing 4th in his best Mt SAC time, 15:56. Roman Pena and David Aldama packed it up the entire race and finished 15th and 16th in 16:23, Erik Miranda was 22nd in 16:34, Josh Linen moved up really well the entire race and was the 5th man in 16:35. Geovanni Popoca ran 16:54, improving on last years best of 18:14! Daniel Davisson rounded out the team in 39th place and a 17:01 clocking.

We will need heroic efforts from all seven to advance, but we have worked hard and still have much to show! Good luck Tigers at Saturdays Finals (8:45 at Mt SAC).

We Are Going To Fresno!!!
Beanies finals
Beanie Power! (Josh was in the bathroom !)
Way to pack it up Tigers! Erik Miranda ran a great race and was our #1 runner in 16:03 and 29th place. But what is amazing is that despite Jesus Salazar having a rough day (our usual front runner), the first five runners finished within 30 seconds of each other. Instead of having a front runner and a pack, we just had an incredible pack! Roman (where-are-my-shoes-Pena)and David Aldama worked together the entire race and finished 16:13 and 16:14, Nathan Learn turned in a 16:18, Jesus ran 16:28, freshman Josh Linen 16:32 and Geovanni Popoca finished in 16:37. A great day!

We race at 10:10 on Saturday, November 29th at Woodward Park in Fresno. (Most people do not get so excited about Fresno, but to a cross country runner it is Shangri-la!)
