VSA Heat White 97 Boys: Welcome
The VSA Heat White 97 boys travel team is an elite U14 team that competes in the NCSL league. We are currently competing in division 2 for the Spring 2012 season. The goal of the team is to compete at the highest level in the NCSL league and to win a Virginia state championship. The long term goal of the team is to prepare all the boys for College Division I level competition. The team practices year round with a break during the Christmas and New Year season. Practices are held three times a week outdoor or indoor depending on the season. Outdoor practices are held at Long's Park. During the summer, the expectation is to play small- tournaments and Futsal. During the winter months the team will play Futsal/Indoor, practice at local schools, and outdoor on hardtops when the weather permits.
The VSA Heat White team philosophy is to foster into the boys a love for soccer while developing their ball control skills early on in their development. At a young age special emphasis is placed on ball control skills and teaching proper technique. In addition special attention is placed on running, agility, coordination and balance. Strengthening is not overlooked but not emphasized until the boys grow older and hit their growth spurts.
The VSA Heat White team is a family oriented team dedicated to good sportsmanship and family values.
The team is coached by Gavin Stevens, of Soccer Revolution Academy and assisted by Mark Dobbins. Mike Blevins and Ed Elmore have also been assisting the team since its initiation in 2005. Coach Elmore and Dobbins played at the Division I college level. The team manager is Angela Plesce.
