University of Calgary Women's Gymnastics: Welcome
Welcome to the University of Calgary Competitive and Pre-Competitive Gymnastics Program.
Our women’s program emphasizes physical preparation as the key foundation for success and safety in gymnastics. While focusing on commitment, discipline, and goal attainment, we also support our athletes as they develop a love for the sport of gymnastics. Our club is fortunate to have an outstanding field of gymnasts always striving to be the best they can be.
Head coach Lisa Smith provides many years of experience and technical expertise to support the coaching staff and athletes in our program. Our Competitive staff is comprised of talented and knowledgeable coaches. Many of them are internationally experienced and/or past U of C student athletes. These coaches have a huge responsibility of building our athletes confidence and independence.
Our Pre-Competitive and Developmental coaches are second to none. They support our recreational athletes by improving their physical strength, flexibility, co-ordination and balance. This dedication provides our younger gymnasts with the necessary tools to develop efficiently in gymnastics and have a lot of fun in the process.
Our parent volunteers are a vital component of our club. We are fortunate to have parents who give freely of their time to help the club. The Unocalgym Parents’ Association is a non-profit society that was initiated in 1994 as a support group for the University of Calgary Competitive programs. The primary responsibility of Unocalgym is to raise funds to help reduce gymnast competition travel costs.
