Welcome to the University Cougars “2009” Season!

For some of you, Welcome Back!

Whether you are new to our program or are returning for another year we are extremely excited that you have chosen our program. We look forward to working with you and your child this season.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

University Cougars is dedicated to providing quality, respectful and safe environment for cheerleaders to learn and understand the sport of cheerleading and to excel and become the best that they can be.  We promote self-esteem, self-discipline and team work in all participants.  We will accomplish this by encouraging positive attitudes, healthy lifestyles, good work ethic, discipline and perseverance. We believe that in developing these traits, our young members will not only be successful in cheerleading, but successful in LIFE.

We expect all volunteer staff, cheerleaders and parents to:

CHEER!
C ommitment to our Organization and our teams
H ardworking and striving to be our best
E quipped to excel
E xperience a standard of excellence
R espect for all

An organization as large as ours cannot be successful without volunteers; they are a vital part of the program. We invite all parents/guardians to get involved in our program.  We depend on volunteering to make our program successful.   If you are interested in volunteering as a Coach, Team Mom or in any other area, please be sure to contact one of our Cheer Directors (Luri or Cathy).

Squads are organized depending on registration numbers.  Cheerleaders will be notified by their coach once the squad rosters are complete (normally in July).  We can have up to 6 squads.  For those children ages 5 – 8 years old, we have our Exhibition Squads -Tiny Mites & Mitey Mites.  For those children ages 9 – 14 years old, we have our Competition Squads - Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget & Midget.  All squads cheer for football games.  Our Exhibition squads will perform a routine at an Exhibition in October.  Our Competition squads compete in at least two competitions starting in October.

Please see the handout section on our website (universitycougars.com) for more information.

Sincerely,
