Welcome to the Universial Striders Track Club

Mission of the Universal Striders Track Club

The mission of the Universal Striders Track Club is to provide youth in Southern California, specifically the Inland Empire an opportunity to compete on the Local, State, National and International level in Track and Field. Not every child can be a world-class athlete, but every athlete can benefit from an organized and well-directed track and field program, dedicated to providing a positive learning environment whether or not they ever win a race. Track and Field may not be all things to all people, however competitive track and field can be an extremely valuable part of a young person’s life. It is our belief that every child can achieve great results, if given the proper opportunity, guidance, motivation, incentive, and direction. The mentorship, focus, self-motivation, sportsmanship and teamwork that result from disciplined training carries through to all aspects of life.   

Richard Edwards (President) and athletes representing the former Team World Olympians Track Club established Universal Striders Track Club at the end of the 2003 season. Coach Richard is a three time Olympic trials qualifier (1976, 1980 and 1984) and a 9-time multi event All- American. Coach Richard established the Universal Striders Track Club to enhance opportunities for track and field athletes to participate in and develop skills prior to their school-based programs and for age group competition. Our USA Track & Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) sanctioned club addresses the needs of a range of youths – from the beginner to the elite athlete, and all levels in between. Regardless of his or her level, each Universal Strider Track Club athlete is trained to maximize his/her individual potential.

Universal Striders Track Club is a youth track and field team with participants ranging from 7-18 years old located in Moreno Valley, while accepting athletes throughout Southern California. Universal Striders Track Club program will teach every athlete that in order to reach their full potential they must apply themselves intelligently and consistently. We work with our athletes and parents to establish appropriate priorities and balances for track and field, school and family life. The team creates a character-building program in a positive atmosphere for young children in the community, a program that will not only challenge them athletically but also at the same time promote a sense of responsibility, commitment and self-esteem, to themselves and others.

Practices are held at a local high school 4 days a week with a fifth day of practice away from the track. Families of athletes are required to participate in all fundraisers or pay the required cost associated with the fees pre-determined by the board.
