| 1. As a show of respect, bow to all black belts when appropriate.
2. Bow upon entering and leaving the training areas.
3. Shoes are not to be worn in the training areas.
4. If you arrive late to class, be sure to allow the instructor to recognize you as you wish to enter the class. If you must leave class early, let your instructor know.
5. Parents: if you need your child out of class early, please tell the instructor before class begins.
6. If you will be out for more than three practices, please phone the business office and leave word as to why you will be out (so we don't worry about you).
7. Please do not ask when you or your child will test for rank. Every student is evaluated on a monthly basis by a systematic review, and notations will be made on your attendance. Monthly dues must be at the current status to be eligible to test.
8. No horseplay or rough-housing allowed. Karate is a serious art.
9. United karate students have a special dress code for uniforms.
10. A full karate uniform (not a t-shirt) is to be worn on the practice floor (exceptions include those in the introductory classes and during the specified summer period when official Karate t-shirts are authorized).
11. Good hygiene is important. Keep nails trimmed, feet cleaned, and uniform cleaned and pressed at all times.
12. Special admittance is required to the weight room. You must check in at the front desk or get special permission from your instructor.
13. Mandatory protection is required when fighting — this includes feet and hand pads, head protector, mouthpiece and groin protector (males only).
14. Do not attempt to learn any forms (or teach them) without the express consent of your instructor.
15. In all practice, light contact is stressed and to designated areas only. (Non-contact areas are groin, neck and face.)
16. It is disrespectful to ask an instructor or senior black belt to spar.
17. Smoking, use of drugs and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. There will be no bad or abusive language used in the studio.
18. No loitering at the front reception area or in the business office unless you have business there
