Your Eyes and Brain
If your fingers or thumb hurt, or you are getting a raw spot or numbness, see the coach or the pro shop immediately!!! Your hand and body are growing and the equipment may not be fitting as well. It could also be a change in the way you throw the ball, so make sure you have someone check things out.

Towel
The reason your bowling ball can come back so oily is that the new bowling balls on the market soak up a lot of oil, so the centers put extra oil on the lane to compensate. You need to wipe that oil off after every shot to make sure your ball gets good traction.

Tape
Whether is it hot or cold, early in the game or late, your hand can change size slightly. Tape helps you adjust to the changes and lets you maintain a more consistent release. Some tape (black) can be used behind the thumb if the thumbhole is too loose. Now the difference is not much, but the thickness of the tape can be just enough to tighten up your release. The white tape goes in the front of the thum to provide some texture for your thumb so it doesn't slide off, and gives you a bit of 'feel' for the ball, since you should not be gripping the ball hard to control it.

'Tough skin'
This is like clear nail polish to keep the ball from rubbing a raw spot somewhere on your thumb. If you find yourself using this product, talk to the coach or you should consider going to the pro shop and having your drilling checked. Your hand may be growing, or the bevel on the thumb may be too small. This is a temporary measure! Something needs to be changed.
