2009 Fund Raising
UMBA is a all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that depends wholly upon the generous donation of time by its volunteers and the success of its sponsorship and fund raising campaigns. Once again UMBA is partnering with Wawa and Genuardi's in part of its fund raising efforts. Pepper's Restaurant has generously offered discounts to UMBA families. Please read the attached handout on the Girl’s Softball U10/12 Tournament Selection Process. It provides excellent information for players and parents. Baseball and Softball Coaches Certification
This will be the first season that all Baseball and Softball managers/coaches in the minor and major divisions be required to be certified through the Riken coaching website. Go to : www.ripkencoaching.org to get the certification.

2009 Sponsorship Campaign
The Upper Merion Baseball Association is looking forward to an exciting 2009 season! UMBA is a non-profit organization that provides supervised baseball/softball leagues for over 700 boys and girls in King of Prussia and surrounding areas. There are instructional teams for boys and girls that range from T-BalI to the Senior League. The coaches are volunteers from the community and this organization provides a valuable service to all children. There are different levels of sponsorships listed in the applications attached below. Please review each option and select the one that meets your interested. Contributions must be returned by March 1st for options 1 through 4 and May 7th for options 5 through 7. Thank you for your extremely valuable support to this wonderful program.

Sign ups for Coaches
There are sign up sheets for the Batting Cage and Hitting Wall in the TAC house on the bulletin board near the snack stand. In the office there are practice field sign ups.
Rules-2 hour game limit
There has been an addedum to 2 hour game limit in the general rules(Information/rules).
31. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 45 minutes. The umpire in chief will announce the starting time to managers on all games. Games called because of the time limit will be considered a regulation game regardless of the number of innings played. This rule does not apply to Boy Senior Division.
32. Lighted Fields-
a. No inning shall be permitted to begin after the time stated:
i. 9:45pm Sunday through Thursday during the school year
ii. 10:30pm Friday & Saturday, or any other non-school night.
b. The umpire in chief shall order the playing field lights turned on whenever in his/her opinion darkness makes further play hazardous.
c. In event of light failure, the game shall be deemed a suspended game.
Bat Rule - PIAA
Attention parents and coaches of boys 7th - 12th grade. The public school league PIAA has adapted the new bat rule. This rule only allows -3 bat with 2 5/8 barrel. See handouts for the exact ruling.
Bat Rule-Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Leagues
Attention for all parents and coaches of boys in 7th grade to 12th grade. Babe Ruth has not changed any rules regarding approved baseball bates (Rule 1.10). There is NO length to weight ration required for Babe Ruth Baseball or Cal Ripken Baseball. Babe Ruth allows 2 1/4 barrel for our 5 - 12 Cal Ripken division and 2 3/4 barrel demensions for our 13 - 15 and 16 - 18. Division.
