UMBA: Welcome
The Upper Merion Baseball Association (UMBA) is an all-volunteer organization providing T-Ball for children ages 5 & 6, Boys Baseball through age 15, and Girls Softball through age 16.
This is the 13th year UMBA offers a Challenger team to our community. This division provides boys and girls ages 6 to 18 who are mentally and physically challenged, the opportunity to play baseball.
We continue to sponsor Junior Legion Baseball including a 13 year old prep league.

2012 UMBA Registration Letter and Forms
Registration will again be held at the Walker field TAC house. Participants will be accepted in numerical order of registration. We may have to limit the number of participants in a division due to the availability of managers and umpires, so we suggest you register early. Please refer to the enclosed “dates to remember” for registration dates and times and additional dates for this season’s events. If you have any questions or need directions we can be reached at 610-265-4477, or at individual Board members phone numbers or emails provided at the end of this letter.
It is the wish of the UMBA board that all children are given the opportunity to participate regardless of their financial status. Please contact Tony Metricarti with any hardships.
Please note:
- Please read the Registration Letter and use the Registration Form in the Handout Section of the website.
- No registrations can be accepted by mail or without a parent/guardian’s signature.
- Evaluations are required for new registers(minors and above) and players moving from Rookies to Minors in softball and baseball.

Baseball and Softball Coaches Certification
This will be the second season that all Baseball and Softball managers/coaches in the minor and major divisions be required to be certified through the Riken coaching website.
Go to: www.ripkencoaching.org to get the certification. There is a small fee. The certification is valid as long as you remain a coach in the Cal Ripken baseball or Babe Ruth Softball.
This is mandatory certification required by Babe Ruth corporation.
This year we will host a coaching clinic on Saturday, February 19th from 10:00am to 3:00pm, at Heuser Park Building. Attendence is mandatory for all managers and coaches.
2012 UMBA Evaluation Night
WHEN: Friday Feb. 24 from 7:00 to 9:00
It is first come first through. We will have a line and take the players as they come. No children should be left unattended.
WHERE: The Factory
431 W. Valley Forge Rd.
King of Prussia Pa. 19406
WHAT TO BRING: Sneakers and a glove. If you do not have we should have an extra for your child to use.
This is for all players moving up from the rookies division or new registers. It is not a tryout, all kids play when registered, we would just like to try to evaluate the kids to try and help make the teams as equal as possible.
Any questions or problems attending please contact Tony Metricarti at: tarheelbug@yahoo.com
