LEAGUE FEES
ALL teams are required to secure their position in the league by putting up a $200 refundable* bond, which must be maintained throughout the season, as well as their $160 entrance fee. All money or vouchers must be received prior to scheduling meeting.
* Your bond will be refunded at the end of the year provided:
You supply two (2)-carded umpires for Senior and junior games.
You are NOT ejected from any game for ANY reason.
If for any reason your bond is in question you will get a chance for the Board to review the circumstance in question.
ALL FINES MUST BE PAID WITHIN 48hr of notification.
Joan and Steve must receive all correspondence between all teams.
National Federation of State High School Association Softball rules will be followed in all games with the exceptions posted in the back pages prating to your division.
ROSTERS
1. TOWN TEAMS must have a minimum of 8 girls that reside in that town.
2. TOWN TEAMS must get approval to merge with another town prior to the scheduling meeting, and must consist of a minimum of 12 players from the combined towns.
3. If your roster consists of 15 players from your town you can not take any out of town players.
4. A maximum of 5 out of town players are allowed to reach a roster size of 15 players. However no in town player can be cut in order to take an out of town player.
5. SCHOOL TEAMS must ONLY have players that attended the school.
6. All rosters with name, DOB, address, and phone number must be emailed to your division head Joan and league secretary, NO LATER then 6/8 or one week prior to your first game, which ever comes first. All rosters with just name and DOB must be emailed to all managers in your division at the same time. Player additions or deletions may be mad prior to July 1st. Rosters are frozen at midnight of 7/1.
7. $50 fine and forfeit of game if complete roster is not in one week prior to your first game or by 6/8.
8. A player may only play for the town she resides in and her name may only appear on one team’s roster from her town. If a town has a team.
9. A coach may give a player permission to play for another town with league approval.
10. A player may be called up to play only to give you a full team and two substitute.
FIELD CONDITIONS
1. Fields must be lined and
2. A TACK DOWN mound MUST be in place.
3. Dead ball area should be clearly marked
4. The home manager shall decide whether the grounds and other conditions are suitable for starting the game.
5. If both coaches disagree on the field condition prior to the game the umpire will make the final decision
6. After the game starts the umpires are sole judges as to the weather conditions, including if the field is fit for play.
POSTPONMENTS:
1. POSTPONMENTS ARE ONLY PERMITTED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.
2. NO games will be rescheduled after master schedule has been posted on the web for one week. All coaches will be notified when complete schedule is posted.
3. ALL POSTPONED GAMES MUST BE RESCHEDULED that night, and must be scheduled for the next open date for both teams.
4. MAKE UP GAMES ARE TO BE RESCHEDULED WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS,
5. BOTH TEAMS MUST REPORT A POSTPONED OR CANCELLED GAME
ANY GAME NOT RESCHEDULED THAT NIGHT WILL HAVE A DATE ASSIGNED TO THEM BY THE DIVISION HEAD, THIS DATE IS A MUST PLAY DATE.
FORFEITS
1. Upon Board Review you may be fined a maximum of $130 ($40 per umpire and $50 league fine) if you forfeit ONE (1) Game,
2. Upon Board Review your team may be dismissed from the league and lose you bond if you forfeit two (2) games in one season.
3. Forfeit time is half (½) hour after scheduled game time.
4. The league will reimburse the home team a Maximum of $40 per umpire for a game forfeited by the visiting team.
5. If a team forfeits a game and the home team pays the umpires, the visiting team must reimburse the league within 48 hrs
UMPIRES
1 Home team must schedule two (2)-carded umpires (preferably high school federation carded)
2 If only one umpire shows up the game must be played, the secretary of the league must be informed and fines may be levied.
3 If no umpire shows up the game must be rescheduled THAT NIGHT at the visiting teams home field and the original home team paying the umpire(s).
4 Before game time, the home team and the visiting team shall deliver their respective line-up cards to the umpire-in-chief. As well, the home team Manager will go over any special ground rules and league exceptions at this time.
5 Players’ number and last name MUST appear in the scorebook. Game should not start until this rule is adhered to.

Field Conduct
A coach, player, substitute, attendant, or other bench personnel SHALL NOT commits any unsporting act to include but not limited to:
1 Use profanity, intimidation, deceitful tactics, or baiting or taunting
2 Use tobacco products of any form
3 Behave in any manner not in accordance with the spirit of fair play,
4 Argue ball and strike calls or other umpire judgment calls.
(Penalty for rules 1-4)
A warning will be given for first offense and ejection for every subsequent offense.
5 It is the responsibility of both managers to report any player, coach or manager ejection no later then 24hrs after it occurred. As well, the contacted information for the umpires, so their side of the story can be told. A two game suspension may be imposed for each incident as well as loss of full bond.
6 Any manager, coach or player ejected from a game is subject to a $75 fine and two game suspensions for the first offense. Any offense after that a meeting with the board will be scheduled prior to you being able to continue in the league. Fines must be repaid to the league within 48hrs.
7 Managers are responsible for the conduct of their fans. A game can be stopped and forfeited if the fans can not be controlled.
8. No more then four couches in the dugouts at one time. Coaches must be identified prior to the start of the game
Ending a Game:
If a game ends because of the mercy rule, weather conditions, or darkness interferes with play so that the umpire ends the game, it is a regulation game provided:
1. Two (2) hours of play have been completed.
2. Five (5) full innings have been played (4) for U10
3. A game may go into extra innings as long as conditions permit
4. Ties are complete games as long as all other aspects have been meet (1-3
5. Mercy rule is 10 Runs U17 & U14, 12 Runs in U12 if 5 full innings have been played; or if the home team has scored a greater number of runs in 4 1/2turns at bat then the visting team has scored in 5 turns.
15 Runs for U10 4full innings have been played; or if the home team has scored a greater number of runs in 3 1/2 turns at bat then the visting team has scored in 4 turns.
6. International tiebreaker will be used in the 10th for 7inning games 9th for 6 inning games.
BATS
The bat MUST have the ASA stamp imbedded on it.
Game Ball:
The ball MUST be optic yellow and must have the NFHS or ASA authenticating mark. All balls used in each game shall be identical. The home teams supply at least two game balls per game.

U17/ SENIOR LEAGUE RULES
Eligibility:
1. Any girl that is eligible to play High School or is 17 years old or under on December 31st.
2. A team may play with eight (8) girls but the ninth spot will be an automatic out.
3. A team may bat a minimum of 9 players with no maximum. (You may bat 11 or 12 or every player that attends the game)
4. Free substitution in the field (report offence changes only)
5. No more then four (4) coaches allowed in the dugout at one time. Coaches must be identified prior to the start of the game.
6. Chinstraps are NOT required equipment
SCORING:
1. The home team manager is responsible for the official scorebook.
2. The winning team must report the score NO LATER THAN 24 HOURS after game is complete.
3. BOTH TEAMS MUST REPORT A POSTPONED OR CANCELLED GAME.
4. Last day of season if the game is postponed due to weather with no available time for make up. In this case both teams will be given a tie.

5. Playoff spots are determined by point. You receive 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie.
6. If a tie for a playoff spot the tie breaker will be as follows:
a) Head to Head
b) Wins vs. ties (If a team has more wins but same amount of points)
c) Which ever team beat the higher seeded team.
7. Top 12 teams make the playoffs.
8. Semi finals & ¼ finals will be at the higher seed.
9. Home team will be responsible for umpires and game balls. Consolation Games & Finals will be played in Bergenfield
U14 / Junior Division
1. Any girl that is not older then 14 as of December 31st
2. There will be free substitution in the field.
3. The field will consist of a maximum of 9 players.
4. May play with 8 girls but the ninth spot will be an automatic out
5. A team may bat a minimum of 9 or 10 players with no maximum. (You may bat 11 or 12 or every player that attends the game)
6. If batting Cinderella any player unable to bat will not result in an out unless you have less then nine

10. A runner can attempt to steal only 2nd to 3rd.
11. The Player may attempt to pick off any base runner on first or third who is leading WITH OUT liability of the runner advancing. This is a force out NO tag is necessary. Any pick off at 2nd base will be a tag out only. Pick offs are limited to 3 unsuccessful attempts per inning. The 4th attempt will result in an additional ball on the batter.
12. No drop third strike, continuous walks. No awarded bases on a pitched ball.
13. Movable bases are recommended as well as a double first base.
14. No fielder may interfere with the base path(short fielder may start anywhere on the field)
15. Pitching distance is 40ft
16. Chinstraps are not required equipment
17. Mercy rule is 12 runs
U12/PRE-TEEN RULES
