Dan Reese is to be congratulated for the fine job he has done working to create and get funding for this trail. Thanks, Dan, for all your hard and persistent work.

My wife and I have enjoyed the Virginia Creeper trail and the New River Trail State Park and would love to have a trail in our hometown.

Can't wait to see how the trail works out. When it comes time for trail building give me a shout. I would be glad to help.

Sure hope this trail becomes a success story. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Johnson City newspaper about a week ago in support of the trail. Has anyone seen it? I don't live in the area, and do not get to see the paper.

I am really impressed by this project. I remember when I was in High School at Happy Valley and seeing the trains run up and down the tracks. It would be such a waste not to use this beautiful area for a trail. I currently do not live in Tennessee, due to the fact that I am serving in the Army out of Fort Hood, TX but I am currently in Iraq. I will say another thing that was failed to mention that would help, it would be a great way to get Families to come together and enjoy a great sroll together. I have ran on a few trails in my lifetime but I think that this would be the best by far! Here is another trail that I used to run when stationed in Fort Gordon, GA. It is actually in Augusta and runs between the Augusta Canal and the Savannah River. http://www.augustacanal.com/ Maybe it would even help the economy in the area if you were able to institute a bicycle rental at the start of the trail. Hope some of this helps you out in your quest. When I come back to TN I will definatly be looking forward to running on this trail! Thank you.

I am a resident in Elizabethton and an avid outdoor enthusiast and would love to see the rail line made into a recreational trail. The Virgina Creeper Trail is a great trail and would love to see one even closer to home. With the economy how it is now, this has the potential to benefit the whole community. Great site and very informative.
