On Monday, June 8, 2009, there will be a “Mandatory” coaches meeting for all U-10

 

Coaches of the Turnpike Girls Softball League.  The meeting will be held at 8:30 PM at

 

 the Taylor Fields under the pavilion.   The following topics will be discussed at the

 

meeting:

 

1)      Bring a list of all games that were cancelled due to weather and have make up

dates scheduled for them.  If you do not have make up dates rescheduled for cancelled games yet, schedule them before Monday and bring those dates with you.

 

2)      A discussion will be held concerning the U10 Playoffs.

 877-3675 before Monday.

2009 Rule Updates For 12U

The following are rule updates agreed to by the 12U coaches for the 2009 Season:

1. There will be no drop third strike.

2. Infield Fly rule will be in effect.

3. Runners will be allowed to steal on the Pitchers release.  Stealing of 2nd, 3rd and home will be allowed.  There will be no advancement of bases on an overthrow.

4.  Runners must slide into bases to avoid collisions.

 All other ASA and PIAA rules will apply.

The TGSL will have there second league meeting Sunday, March 15th at the Abington VFW, 402 Winola Road, Clarks Summit at 2:00pm.  If you are planning to participate in the TGSL for the 2009 season please plan to attent this meeting.  If your unable to attend,
please try to send a representative.  Please forward this email to any new managers or coaches as needed.

- Each town - Plan to provide the number of teams participating by division

2008 Turnpike 14U Champions
Idle Hour Lanes (Lakeland), after losing game one 9-2, took games two and three from Connell Park, 12-2 and 6-5 respectively to capture the 2008 14U title.

Friday, July 11
2008 14U Playoffs / Games schedules are set !
Playoffs will be hosted by Taylor Girls Softball.  The 14U Playoff bracket is located in the Handout section and includes complete game schedules.  Playoff format will be a single elimination with the best of three series for the final two teams.  Cost is $15 / game plus a new 12" softball.  One umpire will be used, except for the Championship series, there will be two.  Championship series cost is $30/team/game/plus ball.  Good luck to all participating teams.

Tripp Park & Dunmore Missy League 12&under All-Star bracket meeting

Tripp Park and Dunmore Missy League will hold a bracket meeting for there 12&under REC level All-Star tournaments on Sunday, July 13th, 7:30pm at Sherwood Park Pavillion.  A representative for each team must attend. Please bring a copy of your team roster (First and Last Name, DOB, Uniform#), proof of insurance, and your entry fee.  If you plan to participate and can not attend the meeting, please contact one of the tournament representatives.

2007 Season completed.
The Turnpike Girls Softball League has completed a successfull 2007 season. Check "My Site News" for 2007 playoff results and divisional champions. Please check back for information about reorganizing for the 2008 season. The initial meeting is usually mid-January each year. For more information, please contact one of the league officiers.

All TGSL Managers, please reschedule your rain-outs or cancellations within 48 hours of cancelled game and email your changes to Dino to update the website.

2006 Umpire fee for all TGSL games is $20.00.  If your organization pays more than $20, that is OK, the minimum is $20.

If having problems rescheduling, please contact your divisional commissioner, a neutral field may be scheduled, but the original home team will be responsible to pay the umpire.  All TGSL games are to be completed by June 23rd,  June 24 & 25 will be the final dates to finish all games.  Any game not completed by the June 25th, will result in a loss for both teams and my effect your playoff opportunities !

Fall Softball meeting - August 17
NEPA Girls Fall Softball League will meet Wednesday, August 17th, 7:30pm at "The Playing Fields - Sports Dome", 1328 Sen. Bob Mellow Drive, Jessup, PA. For directions, please go to http://www.the-playing-fields.com.

Meeting is open to all league officials, managers, coaches, parents, and players. If you do not have enough players for a team, players will be combined and placed on a team. This will be our third season for Girls Fall Softball and there will be divisions for 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U. League is an instructional league, it's open to all area players, and runs from September 11th thru October 31th.

2005 TGSL Opening Day hosted by Abington Area Girls Softball
All Divisions will play games at the Abington Rec Fields, May 14 & 15. All scheduled games have been confirmed by Divisional Commissioners.

14U & 10U Divisions:

These games will be in place of your regularly scheduled game with that opponent and will count in your standings.

12U Division:

These games are in addition to your regularly scheduled games and are not included in your standings. If you have a regular scheduled game on these dates, you will need to reschedule.

There will be a 1.5 Hour Time Limit on all games. No new inning will start after 1.5 Hour limit, finish current inning if Home-Team is losing. All umpires will be scheduled by Dave Gable. All teams please report to fields 1/2 hour prior to scheduled start time.
Each team will pay $10.00 plus one new ball.

   


Second - Mandatory Managers meeting - April 11
There will be a Final Mandatory Meeting for all Managers, all Divisions,
Monday, April 11th at 7:00 pm at the VFW in Clarks Summit.

If a manager can not attend, a representative must be present to complete
the ASA Registration and provide rosters.

Meeting Agenda:
       - Review / Finalize the Rules and ByLaws for 2005,
          emphasizing new rules for rainouts / cancellations and scheduling make-ups,
          posting scores on official web-site,
       - Complete ASA Team Registrations
       - Payment for League fee / Team and ASA Registration
       - Password to website
       - Once the rules are finalized, Dave will get a laminated copy to each town to be
          placed in their dugouts / refreshment stands,
       - Scheduling was completed on April 6th. Checkout the Schedule section.
          14U's are posted, 12U & 10U coming soon.
       - Finalize any outstanding issues.

Umpire Clinic
There will be a clinic for anyone interested in becoming an ASA certified umpire at the Elm St. Park fieldhouse in Dickson City on the folowing dates:
Saturday, March 19th 9:00am to 11:00am
Saturday, April 2nd   9:00am to 11:00am
Saturday, April 9th   9:00am to 11:00am
Registration fee is $35.00 for adults and $25.00 for anyone 18 and under which includes your ASA membership for the year. Anyone 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent at time of registration. Any other questions, please call ED at 383-0838.

   Finalize Rules and Teams for each division:
       - Review / Finalize the Rules and ByLaws for 2005,
          emphasizing new rules for rainouts / cancellations and scheduling make-ups,
          posting scores on official web-site,
       - Finalize the number of teams per division, provide Team-Name, Manager-Name   
         (with Phone number and Email address),
       - Establish the playoff format and dates per division,
       - Season ending league tournament per division,
       - Once the rules are finalized, Dave will get a laminated copy to each town to be
          placed in their dugouts / refreshment stands,
   Scheduling by Division
       - Each manager must bring at least 12 copies of there Team Rosters. Team Roster
          information must include: Team-Name, Organization, Manager-Name with phone-numbers
         (home, work, cell) and email, Players-First and Last-Names, Date-of-Birth. Please
          include your alternates name and DOB.
       - 14U-Division will schedule at 7:00pm
       - 12U-Division will schedule at 7:30pm
       - 10U-Division will schedule at 8:00pm
       - Finalize any outstanding issues.

Please remember to bring the dates your team is unavailable to play. (Graduation, Dance recitals, Camps etc.)   Also bring the registration forms that were handed out at the last meeting with the money (check) needed to register with ASA for all of the teams.
