Monday, July 7 TYA 2008 Champs Congrats to the following teams and coaches: Major Boys - Rangers - John Roque/Gary Brown Major Girls - Orioles - Louis Parks (back to back) Minor Boys - Diamondbacks - Jerry Frost/Mike Duncan 2007 Raffle Winners 1st Prize: Mr Paul Spiridigliozzi sold by Nicole from the Bees(20" LCD TV) 2nd Prize: Luigi Marcoccia sold by Vito Marcoccia from the Sandgnats(Wii) 3rd " : J McNamara from the Rays (Baseball Movie Night Basket) 4th: " : Kristen Ircha sold by Steven Ircha from the Dbacks(Yankee Tickets) sold the most raffles Nicole Spiridigliozzi sold the 1st prize winning ticket Welcome New Board Members Rafael Rivera and Artie Mondrone TYA Winners In New Rochelle Memorial Day Tournament TYA defeated New Rochelle to win the Memorial Day championship game held at Pine Brook Field on Sunday, May 30th. Comprised of players from the Major League Baseball division, the team wound up with a 3-1 record over the course of the Memorial Day weekend. Excellent pitching, stellar defense and timely hitting catapulted the team to the championship game. Their only loss was to the very same team they beat 12-4 to win the crown. This marks the second time that a team from TYA has won the championship in this tournament. Congratulations to the team, coaches and parents for a outstanding weekend of baseball! On June 13th, TYA awarded five scholarships to graduating high school seniors that have come through our baseball/softball program. TYA Membership Meetings The Board of Directors and the league membership meets every first Wednesday of the month at the Tuckahoe Community Center at 8PM. All are welcome to attend. NEXT MEETINGS - Nov 11, 2009 TYA In A Time Capsule! The TYA 2002 Journal will be placed in a time capsule which will be encased in the Veterans Memorial Monument located at Marbledale Road. The capsule will be placed inside the monument Nov.11 and will remain there for fifty years. It's nice to know that in the year 2052, people will be reminiscing through our baseball journal. |
