Trinity Ends Pelham's Winning Streak
Trinity stopped the two time defending champion Pelham Pythons 22 game winning streak in a striking fashion this past Saturday night at Gill Stadium. Trinity out muscled the Pythons 20-0 in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The Pythons entered the contest having gone 30+ games without a shutout defeat and were being touted a s the team to beat in Div. V this year.
Trinity's assault was led by the rushing of Josh Hughes and Connor Lyons who combined for 217 of Trinity's 330 yards. Each scored a TD with a third added by Brad Taillon. The Pioneers dominated the line of scrimmage with strong line play by Jared Barzack, Troy Butler, Mike Leonard, Colin Bouchard, and Jeff Gratiano in the middle.
The Pythons could do little against the Pioneers defense as they were held to only 153 total yards for the game. Pioneer linebackers Phil Dion and Brad Taillon along with Hughes and Leonard stuffed every Python threat. The defensive backfield of Connor Lyons, James Horn and Jake Castricone did not allow the Pythons any significant pass completions and helped shutdown Pelham rushing attack along the way.
Trinity now looks towards this Friday nights matchup against the always tough Bishop Brady team. Game time is 7:00pm in Concord.
