Triangle Lightning is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Jr. Olympic Fastpitch Softball. We fully comply with all ASA, NCAA, NAIA, and NCHSAA regulations. Our focus is on Academics, Character, Skill Development, College Preparation, and Competitiveness at the highest level. We have been in existence since 1999-2000 with the help of many dedicated professionals.

Triangle Lightning is the only Organization in Eastern NC to have its 14U, 16U, and 18U teams play in the USA ASA A Nationals for the National Championship

NC Thunder & Triangle Lightning

The Triangle Lightning and NC Thunder organizations announce a collaborative partnership and joint agreement to form the Thunder & Lightning. The partnership will provide additional resources to compete at the highest levels and more assistance to our ladies in the recruiting process. The 18U combined coaching staff of professionals (non-parents) will provide over 100 years of coaching experence and also have over 90 alumni moving onto the collegiate level. Head Coaches Tim Moose and Dave Wilkinson and their staffs will lead this effort with the 18s team.

The team has set an open tryout date of Sunday August 16 at 2:00 at the East Wake Middle School fields outside of Raleigh. Additional tryout times will be available at different locations. For more information, contact us at or call the coaches.

18s Ladies Complete Competitive Run at ASA Nationals

Congratulations to our 18U ladies, who ended up with a top 30 finish at the 2015 ASA A National Championship. The ladies went 3-3 during the week, with 3 exciting and extremely close well played ITB losses ending the tournament run. It was a tremendous experience and sets up a desire for an even better run in 2016

Congratulations to the 18U ladies, who over the 4th of July captured the ASA Region 3 Salem Va open Championship. After a close 5/4 ITB loss in game 3 of the bracket, the ladies stormed back to capture the Championship with 7 straight tough games!

Dean Headed to Pitt

Congratulations to 18U team member English Dean, who is headed to Pitt to play for coach Jr. Bailey's program. English became a major contributor on the mound in her short time with the program, developing into a solid pitcher and position player. We look forward to watching her grow at the next level!

Herring Commits to Campbell

Congratulations to Lightning 18s team member Madison Herring, 2015 S. Lenoir HS, and her family on her recent commitment to Campbell and coach Todd Bradleys program. Madison becomes the fifth Lightning alum to play at Campbell. A highly skilled middle infielder and outfielder, Madison has the potential to make a early impact for the Camels. Congrats to Madison and the Herring family!

Kortnie Blanchard Headed to Methodist

Congratulations to Lightning - Bowling team member Kortnie Blanchard, 2015 Clayton HS, and her family. Kortnie is headed to Methodist to play for coach Ron Simpsons program, becomming the first Lightning Alum to play for the program. A highly skilled outfielder and excellent student athlete, Kortnie will be a tremendous addition to the Monarchs program. Congratulations Kortnie!

Harris headed to Presbyterian

Congratulations to 2014 class member Jenna Harris, who is headed to play for the D1 Presbyterian Blue Hose. Jenna will be the first Lightning Alum to play there, but will be joining several others to have played for head coach Kama Tucker. Jenna is a part of a select group of legacy players with the organization, having played her entire travel career with Lightning Teams from 10U up. She also joins a group of Lightning players to have received high school honors of all conference, district, state and the WRAL Extra Effort Award, the Raleigh Sports Club Award, and the Coastal Federal Player of the Month Award. A 4.9 GPA student, Jenna was also part of the top of her class at Clayton high school. Congratulations Jenna!

Moss to Pirates

Congratulations to Sr class member Hayes Moss on her decision to attend ECU. Hayes has grown to become an excellent all around player; while playing several positions becoming a defensive stopper as an outfielder, at second base, or catcher. She also has been one of the most improved players offensively, becoming a leader in several offensive categories with surprising power as well as speed. Hayes is also a leader in high school at Northern Vance, and will be joining several Lightning alums as a Pirate. Congratulations Hayes!

Congratulations to 18s team member Heather Mclean, a 2014 Sr class member who has committed to attend William Peace University. Heather, in her short tenure with the Lightning, has stood out as an offensive leader with excellent power. The Cleveland High School leader is an all conference, district, and state performer; and a student leader as well. Congratulations Heather!

18s Finish Season 3rd at ASA Nationals

Congratulations to the 18U Ladies on another strong finish at ASA Nationals. The ladies finished in 3rd place, losing a tough battle to the Ohio Ice 5-4 in extra innings. The ladies continued a strong tradition of excellent during the season, with another 40+ win season and all seniors heading off to college who choose to pursue playing. Awesome job Ladies!

18s Diversfy

The Lightning Association is pleased to offer a Sr team for a one summer trial this year to diversfy our 18s. The Sr team will consist of players in the 2013 class along with some returning college players this summer, and will play a limited high level Gold-A-23s schedule to keep our high school seniors ready and provide an oppportunity for returning college players to continue to work for next season. The traditional 18U team continues with its normal high level A-Gold tournament and showcase schedule.

Pate to Pirates

Congratulations to 2013 class member Jenna Pate (Wilson Beddingfield) on her recent commitment to ECU. Jenna, an all state and conference player of the year performer led Beddingfield to a state title in 2012; and has been both an offensive and defensive leader for the Lightning for two plus seasons. JP has been a leader on the mound and in the infield, and has been an offensive leader batting average, on base percentage, home runs, rbi's and several other areas. Jenna is also a exceptional student athlete, headed into the ECU Honor Scholars Program. JP will be the second alum to be a Pirate. Congratulations to the Pates

Medford Commits to NCSU

Congratulations to 2013 class member Morgan Medford (Hobgood Academy), who has committed to play for NCSU. Morgan becomes the fourth Lightning alum to play for the Pack, and first to play for new head coach Shawn Rychik and staff. Morgan has had an all-state career for Hobgood Academy, learning her team to a state title and earning numerous honors. Morgan has been a leading power hitter for the Lightning during the past two plus seasons with excellent numbers in home runs, rbi's, doubles, and slugging percentage to name a few. Congratulations to Morgan and the Medford family!

Veteran Coach Brett Anderson to head 12s

The Lightning Association is pleased to announce that veteran coach Brett Anderson will be heading up a Lightning 12u-14u team. Coach Anderson is a twenty year coaching veteran, begining his coaching career in California and continuing in NC, with a tremendous track record of developing solid players at all age levels. Coach Anderson will be focusing on developing all skills, competition at the highest levels, and preparation for high school and beyond. Brett's daugther Katie is a Lightning alum and former division one college player who provides assistance to the 18s and will assist with the team as well. Bunn Headed to Trojans

Congratulations to 2013 class member Kenan Bunn (East Wake), who recently signed a NLI to attend Mount Olive and play for the Trojans. An excellent student, Kenan has developed into an excellent outfielder, making solid defensive plays at all outfield positions. Offensively, Kenan is a solid line drive hitter, developing into a team leader in on-base percentage and runs scored. A leader on the field and off, Kenan has been a tremendous asset to the Lightning during her career. Congratulations to the Bunn family!

Ewers Headed to Trojans

Congratulations to 2013 class member Caitlin Ewers (Roanoke Rapids High), who recently signed a NLI to attend Mount Olive. Caitlin becomes the second Lightning alum with the Trojans. A two year Lightning player, Caitlin has developed into an excellent power hitter, solid first baseman, and top flight lefty pitcher. During the 2012 summer season, Caitlin produced tremendous power numbers at the plate in home runs, rbi's, and slugging percentage. On the mound, Caitlin developed into a top starter and will be an impact player for the Trojans. An excellent student as well, Caitlin is a team leader on the field and off. Congratulations to the Ewers family!

Chamblee Headed to UNCW

Congratulations to 2013 class member Nella Chamblee, who has signed to play for the UNCW SeaHawks and coach Kristy Norton; the fourth Lightning alum to play for the Hawks. Nella is a class leader at Cornith Holders High and for the Lightning on the field and off. A tremendous student, Nella has developed into a top catcher and third base player, as well as being an offensive leader. As a catcher, less than 20% of base runners have been successful in steal attempts, and she has led the team with fewest errors over the past two seasons. Offensively, Nella has developed into a clutch hitter and RBI producer. Nella has also played through the various age levels from 10U up with the Lightning, joining a select group of legacy players in the organization. Congratulations to Nella and the Chamblee family!

18s Close Out Season With Historic Run in ASA Gold Eastern Nationals

Congratulations to our 18s on a terrific 2012 season. The ladies recently returned from ASA Gold Eastern Nationals with a 4th place (tied) finish; which was the highest finish in a Gold Nationals for a NC team. The ladies battled through as the top seed from their pool grouping, and played terrific throughout in elmination play....losing in by one run in the bottom of the 7 to runner up Maryland Heartbreakers Gold.

The ladies closed out the season with a terrific 42-14-1 record in A/Gold play and set several team records for offensive production. Congratulations to all the ladies on a terrific run, and to the 2012 seniors for such wonderful leadership through the years!

18s Start Summer Season with a bang!

Congratulations to the 18s ladies on a stellar performance at the highly regarded 17th Annual Dynamites Showcase Classic in Columbia SC. The ladies finished up the tournament portion of the event with a third place finish in the difficult single elimination event, scoring 93 runs in 11 games and hitting 12 homers for the weekend. Awesome start ladies!

Caitlin Bowden (KB) signs with Piedmont!!

Congratulations to 2012 class member Caitlin Bowden (KB) who has committed and will sign to play with Coach Terry Martin at Piedmont College. Piedmont, in the Great South Conference, is a powerful program that annually competes for NCCA Regional bids. She will become the first Lightning Alum at the school. A tireless worker, KB has rapidly improved as a pitcher, corners player and outfielder; becoming a workhorse on the mound for the 18s. She also helped to lead our 16s on their recent championship run, and is a leader Wilmington Trask high school. Congratulations to KB and her family!

18s End Fall Tournament Schedule with Undefeated Run at Southern Stars

The 18U Ladies ended the fall tournament schedule with an undefeated run at the Southern Stars Showcase in Savannah GA against a tough five game schedule. The ladies scored 34 runs over the weekend while allowing only 5. The ladies ended the fall with a record of 20-4. The ladies will now take a holiday break with their families.

Lizzy signs with Morehead State!

Congratulations to Elizabeth "Lizzy" Margagliotti (Apex HS) who has signed a NLI to play for coach David Williams and Morehead State University. Lizzy becomes the first Lightning Alum to play for the Eagles and in the Ohio Valley Conference. She becomes the 63 Lightning player to move on into the college ranks. During her Lightning career Lizzy has grown into an excellent all around player; being a team leader offensively in batting average, on base percentage, hitting with runners in scoring position, and stolen bases; and compling excellent defensive stats playing at 2B-SS and in the outfield. Congratulations Lizzy!!!

Whitney Williams inks with Norfolk State

Congratulations to 2012 class member Whitney Williams (South Johnston HS) who signed a NLI to play for coach Heidi Cavallo at Norfolk State University. Whitney becomes the first Lightning Alum to play for the Spartans and # 62 Lightning Alum to move to the college level. Whitney is a powerful hitter, and team leader in home runs, RBI's, and batting average. Playing primarily in the outfield during her Lightning career, Whitney has also become a solid defensive player and all around leader. Congratulations Whit!!

Congratulations to 2012 class member CJ Moose (Knightdale HS) who signed a NLI to play for coach Kelly Van Houten at UNCW. CJ becomes the third Lightning Alum to play for the SeaHawks! During her Lightning career, CJ has grown into a offensive force as a team leader in doubles, home runs, RBI's, batting average, and hitting with runners in scoring position. Primarily 1B, 3B and 2B during her Lightning career, CJ has matured into an excellent defensive player and overall team leader. Congratulations CJ!

18s Finish 9th in the Nation

Congratulations to the 18U Ladies, who finished 9th at ASA Nationals in Normal Illinois this past week; the highest finish of any team from the region. The ladies went 7-2 during the week, battling throughout against 104 of the best teams nationally; including teams with numerous returning college players. Nella Chamblee, Raven Smith, Jenna Pate, Camise Patterson, Kristen Jernigan, CJ Moose, Mel Davis, Lizzy Margagliotti, Whitney Williams, Morgan Medford, Tayler Creech, and Caitlin Ewers made the trip to the "field of dreams"! The 9th place finish is the third highest finish by a NC team at Nationals. Awesome job ladies!!

Good Luck to our 16U Ladies who are heading off to the National Training Center in Florida for the FAST Nationals. The ladies have consistently improved all during the season and have had impressive recent outings in 18U showcase tournaments. Congratulations to our 18U Ladies

Congrats to all our 18U ladies on a tremendous 2010 fall - 2011 summer season! All ladies on the roster have accomplished a tremendous amount, with all-conference, academic all-conference, and all district honors; and 9 all state honors with 2 players of the year!  These Lightning ladies have also played well in all major tournaments and recruiting showcases, including the southern regional championships and dynamites showcase, and other major showcase tournaments, and just finished up an excellent weekend at the Cardinal Classic, scoring 41 runs and allowing 6 in the 5 games. The ladies and coaches will now prepare for the 18U A National Championship in Illinois the first week of August!  Good Luck Ladies!

Raven Smith Signs with NCA&T

2011 Class Member Raven Smith (Garner) OF has signed a NLI to play for coach Mamie Jones at NCA&T. Raven has worked hard on her game at the 18's, becomming an excellent defensive outfielder and a potent offensive performer; switch-hitting as a righthanded hitter with power and a slapper with excellent speed. Raven will become the 2nd alum to play for the Aggies and coach Jones.  We are all very happy for and proud of Raven!

2011 Class Member Lexie Brock (Knightdale) OF/Utility has signed a NLI to play for coach Amy Yates at Pfeiffer University. Lexie has worked hard in all aspects of the game to become a very versitile player who excells at several positions, having played seven defensive positions in her 18U career, as well as performing at a high level on offense. Lexie will become the 2nd alum to play for the Falcons. We are all very happy for and proud of Lexie and all her work on and off the field.

2011 Class Member Kristen Jernigan (South Johnston) SS/3B has signed a NLI to play for coach Kelly Van Houten at UNCW. KJ has excelled as a offensive leader on the team, driving in runs, hitting at a high level in scoring situations. KJ is also an excellent defensive player and a solid team leader on and off the field. KJ will become the 2nd alum to play for the SeaHawks. Mel Davis Commits to Lander

2011 Class Member Melanie Davis (Bunn) C/OF has signed a NLI to play for coach Brandon Duncan at Lander University. Mel is a hard worker who transformed her game with the 18's by changing positions and moving to catcher and becomming one of the best in the region. Mel excells at calling games and leading the defensive tone on the field, and is a leader off the field. She will become the 2nd alum to play for coach Duncan at Lander. We are all very happy for and proud of Mel!

Camise Patterson Signs with Campbell

2011 Class member Camise Patterson (Fuquay-Varina) OF /2B has signed a NLI to attend and play for coach Drew Peterson at Campbell. Camise is a hard worker who has excelled as a CF and lead-off hitter, as well as being a team leader who brings intensity to the field. Camise will be the 4th Lightning alum to play for coach Peterson, and is the 50th Lightning Lady to committ to play college softball. We are all happy for and proud of Camise!
