Greensboro STX LaxFest 2009

WELCOME TO THE HOMEPAGE OF THE 2009 GREENSBORO STX LAXFEST

The 9th Annual Greensboro LaxFest will be held June 12-14, 2009 in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Smith Turf Complex.

Greensboro LaxFest Parking 2009
Please share with your parents!
Those of you who were here in the past may have had the pleasure of a parking ticket, courtesy of Greensboro’s finest. For your benefit, please pay attention to the NO PARKING SIGNS along Veasley street which borders the parking lot closest to the field.
The No Parking area is the south side (closest to the fields) of Veasley Street (the street that parallels the fields). There are 2 obscure No Parking signs, very easy to miss. You may be ticketed if you park illegally!
Parking options:
When you turn onto Veasley you will see the parking lot and fields to your left. There is limited (about 60 spaces) in that lot. Please note that we are reserving 10 spaces for the referees; these will be cordoned off and we ask that you respect that.
You are welcome to pull into this lot near the fields, even if full, and drop off  kids, gear, etc. Just tell the staff you are dropping off if they say the lot is full.
Our parking staff (all wearing yellow vests) will either direct you into that first lot if spaces are still available, or will direct you past the lot to the next right turn (another parking staff person in a yellow vest) where there is plenty of parking at Smith high School. When that lot gets full you will have to park on the far side of the school, which involves  a walk of maybe 600 yards.
No one can park in the bus lot (don’t worry, you will know which one that is!).

Water

There is NO WATER SOURCE at the Turf facility, other than for sale. So please bring water for your players.

Footwear

The turf at Smith Fields is the new age AstroTurf. It feels like really nice grass and plays that way. Players can wear turf, tennis or (rubber) cleats on these fields. I would advise your players to bring at least 2 of the above, so they are ready for different field conditions. ABSOLUTELY NO METAL OR SHARP CLEATS

Food and Drink

You are welcome to bring coolers and food! There will be concessions available but feel free to bring what you wish! No grills are allowed inside the facility.

Pinnies

All players should bring pinnies as well as their uniforms. It is inevitable that we will have teams wearing the same jersey colors playing each other.

No Pets/ No Smoking!!!

The facility does have  “No Pets”  and No Smoking rules within the facility.

Weather Delays

We will only stop for lightening. Per North Carolina High School rules, play can resume after 30 minutes with no lightening.  It is impossible to have a firm set of rules on what we do if we encounter delays. We will do our best to play all or part of each game, but we will make adjustments as needed to stay on the schedule. With 70 + games to be played, we will suspend a game and start the next one on time if needed.

Tents

Bring your tents and set up inside the grounds! Please make sure all tents are the type you do not have to fix to the ground, as the area is either concrete or turf. It is first come, first served!

The facility is locked overnight, so you are welcome to leave your tents set up overnight, but we can not guarantee against theft or damage.

There is a grassy hill outside the gates with a great view of Field 1 (Mostly U-15 games) and some shade. You are welcome to set up tents and grills there as well, but again, first come first serve! This area is not within the locked portion of the facility, so you do assume some risk leaving tents set up overnight.

TYLA is proud to be a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) partner.

We will continue to adhere to and enforce the PCA principles at the 2009 Greensboro STX LaxFest!
