Positive Coaching Alliance Partner

TYLA is proud to be a partner with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).  PCA, a Stanford University-based non-profit organization, has worked with hundreds of youth sports organizations around the United States, to develop practical tools and guidelines to help youth athletes, their coaches and parents get the most out of sports. Since PCA’s founding, more than 1,100 schools and youth sports organizations across the country have used its techniques to create and maintain an “Honoring the Game” culture throughout their organization. TYLA is one of only three youth sports organizations in the state – and the first in the Triad -- to undertake a partnership with PCA.

A grant from US Lacrosse helped support this partnership. This partnership is designed to ensure a positive, character building experience for all youth athletes in TYLA programs. TYLA will embrace PCA’s model under which our coaches are “Double-Goal Coaches,” with winning as one goal and teaching TYLA athletes life lessons as the second, more important goal.  Parents serve as “Second-Goal Parents,” with their focus on helping TYLA athletes learn those life lessons.
