Tri-Valley Little League Yucca Valley,Ca: Team Parents

Monday, November 24

So you volunteered to be team parent, now what?

Managers and Coaches give so much of thier time teaching your child the fundamentals of baseball/softball and they need a  GOOD team parent to help with some of the other tasks.  A few of the things you can expect to do are listed below.

  • Inform players of any changes in practice, games and events~ask manager for all phone numbers and check with parents what number-or e-mail is best to reach them.
  • Make a phone list for players.
  • Make sure when your team is Home team you have a score keeper.
  • Rookies, if you are home team provide an approved umpire.
  • Make a snack list~ encourage parents to include manager and coaches.
  • Check Managers box (if they want you to).
  • Pass out paper work~ flyers from league or Manager.
  • Help inform & encourage participation of league fundraisers, passing out forms and collecting money- this is very improtant to the league.
  • Purchase or make team banner & collect funds from players to cover cost.
  • Plan team party.
  • Thank the manager and coaches at the end of the season (ideas include: card, plaque, shirt, signed ball, photo album or collage.........you name it-be creative).

Remember every little thing you can do to assist the manager helps the team.  A good team parent can make the difference between a good season and  a great season.

Any questions feel free to ask a Board Member.  We are happy to help.

Thank you for steppin' up to the plate!
