Trenholm Baseball: Welcome

Banner5

Trenholm Little League grew by more than 100 players this spring. About 60 girls signed up for Trenholn's new softball program, and Tee-ball had it biggest year ever, with more than 70 players.

The season ended with five tournaments The winners are:

  • Baseball Majors: Fredericks
  • Baseball Minors: Gilham
  • Baseball Coach Pitch: Keup
  • Softball Minors: Gross
  • Softball Coach Pitch: Chastain

The facility had some upgrades, too. The grass infield on the big field had become uneven and pitted, making it hard to field grounders.  County workers removed the grass and left behind a packed dirt infield for the season. The county and Little League will lay grass turf this summer.

The majors scoreboard was repaired, and speakers were replaced on both fields' PA systems.

Majors and minors players finished the season with spirited games in late May.

Tee-Ballers get their trophies

Tee-Ball season ended with closing ceremonies recently. Each player hustled to the trophy table, shook hands with the Trenholm luminaries, grabbed a trophy and ran back to be with his or her team for the last time.

Then they unhanded their golden artifacts, just for a moment, to heave a baseball in a throwing contest. (See the winners here.)  It was the last toss for spring 2012, but there are many seasons to go for these guys, and it all starts up again at the end of summer.

Baseball ready, camera ready

March 4, 2012 -The fields were soaked Saturday, so Trenholm Little League held no games. But the teams came, looking sharp in their uniforms, for the camera. The players and parents packed the Trenholm building, waiting for their turn in the photo-shoot room, romping, nudging, laughing and talking. After the rain stopped, some went outside to play tag and put in a little practice time with the coaches. The season starts Monday. (Click on photo to download.)

New to Little League?

For the newcomer, any organized youth sport can be bewildering, be it soccer, football, baseball or basketball. You may find yourself asking lots of questions.  How much time should my child spend on baseball? What is the risk of injury? What if my child appears to be stressed by his participation on the team? The Little League site has answers for these and other questions. These sections are specifically for parents:

And please talk to your coach or a Trenholm Little League officer if you have concerns or questions.

Bats approved by Little League

Little League has banned composite-barreled bats for Majors, Minors, Coach Pitch and Tee-Ball divisions. This is the latest list of approved bats.
