Saturday, November 6 2011 Wrestling Seasons We are currently planning the 2011 Wrestling Seasons. If you would like to receive the information as soon as it becomes available please send an email to coachcliff@titanwrestlingclub.org and ask to be added to the mailing list. Tuesday, December 11 Winter Weather Policy Reminder While wrestling practice is important, it is not important enough to take unnecessary risks while driving. In general, if the Jackson Area Catholic Schools have canceled school for the day then our practice that day is also canceled. In the unusual circumstance that the weather clears up around mid-day and the roads are in good shape by mid-afternoon we will post an announcement on the website that lets you know that we will still be having practice. If no such announcement is posted, then practice is canceled. We will also make an attempt to post practice cancellations, but this may not be possible depending on the weather. Tuesday, November 11 Assistant Coaches Needed! Service Hours available for students! Our practices run much more smoothly when we have assistant coaches out on the mat to help the kids. No experience is necessary - all you need to do is be able to listen to whatever the coach is teaching and then help the kids make it happen. Of course, anyone with any wrestling experience should automatically be out on the mat! This is also a great way for JCMS and Lumen Christi students to earn service hours. If anyone is interested in helping out they can either contact Coach Cliff or just jump in at practice. Friday, September 28 Call for photos!!! We are always looking for photos to add to the site. If you have any photos from past seasons or if you take some this season that you would like to share please contact Coach Cliff and we will get them added to the site. We would like to get a photo archive established for the club and - who knows - maybe your photo will end up on the front page. Friday, March 6 Why Wrestle Freestyle? This is a common question that we hear every season. We have given our reasons over and over again - you really focus on getting better at takedowns and pins, it's fast paced and most importantly, most young wrestlers find it to be more fun. The National Freestyle Coach, Zeke Jones, has written an article recently for USA Wrestling and he gives some excellent reasons as well. Please take the time to read this article, especially if you are a Middle School or High School wrestler who has never given freestyle a try. Handout: Why Wrestle Freestyle? |
