She is 12 years old and one of the young ladies on the TCB team that represented McDuffie and surrounding counties successfully in various competition this year, currently 2006 & 2008 Cheersport National and Regional Champions.
Daughter of Sam & Anita Prince from Thomson Courtney’s favorite skill is toe touch, because it is challenging to see just high you can get your feet off the floor ….She also like flying. She say, “I like to fly because it is all about balance. It is a different challenge than you can find anywhere else”. Courtney cheers for both TCB and her school, Briarwood Academy. She say “In competitive cheerleading when you are on the floor you are the athlete and it is all about the cheerleading team and each move is judged. Motivational cheerleading is supporting and urging on the other athletes to do their best. I like to do both “OH ,I love competing and I am always ready , and love it!!!!!!!”
When ask what she likes about TCB “I like TCB because it challenges you to do more than you think you can.”. She says “I’ve learned that cheerleading isn’t just a sport but a sport that takes strength, determination and team work. The squad is more than what each girl can do on their own when they work together as a team”. Anita says, ”Courtney loves cheerleading and she has learned so much from it. It has taught her that if she wants something bad enough she can achieve it through practice and determination, that it is not winning but doing your part your best. She has learned to use her time wisely as she has so little unscheduled time. It has made her more self reliant and responsible. It has helped her feel more self assurance and to pull her out of her shy “shell”. I could go on and on and on about the benefits. I am proud she is a part of TCB..”
Coaches say….Courtney has a lot of potential and will do what ever she sets her mind to..she has the long regal lines to fly and tumble beautifully, She has a great work ethic and will continue to work on the goals she has set for herself. She has the character to do what ever she want to in life.

![]() |
TCB Cheerleader of the month
Jessica Star, affectingly know as “Starr” to
her team mates is just that a star!
Her commitment to the team and herself has made her a huge success not only on the floor but off as well. She say “ I love TCB because there is so many opportunities to be gained through it. I love making new friends and meeting new people. It is so amazing when you watch all of these other teams perform and then later you think to yourself that’s what I’m doing and that’s why I like TCB so much because it puts you out there with all the other squads. I have learned sportsmanship and responsibility. Since I have been on the squad I have really opened up and just been able to let my personality shine through”.” When I am on the stage and the curtains open it’s like being in another world and my whole body goes cold and I am filled with adrenaline and the music starts and its like WOW. Especially when everything Hits in the routine and no stunts fall I feel so ecstatic and when you get off the stage you feel so accomplished even if we don’t place first.” Jessica’s favorite skill is…. “ I love to do back handsprings .Why? It is just fun and exciting and I love back handsprings “ “I also, love to stunt its awesome its just so much fun while being a great workout. I also love to show facials because I just get to throw my face around doing facial expressions I usually wouldn’t do in my everyday life.”
Jessica, age 14 is from Glascock county and the daughter of Candy Star. She not only cheers for TCB but represent her high school as well in cheering for their teams...She says” Competitive cheerleading gives you the excitement and enjoyment of performing on a stage and meeting new people, with competitive cheerleading people are motivating you. In motivational you are inspiring the crowd As in competitive you are building a crowd through all the skills that you work for. Motivational cheerleading is one thing but Competitive is in a Whole different level! “ Mom says, “Three years ago Jessica, with her school cheerleading, attended TCB’s cheer camp. After that she wanted to join the program. This was something she is very passionate about. I agreed to let her join as long as she maintained A’s and B’s and gives it 100%. Over the years her passion, devotion, and dedication has only strengthened. She works very hard to maintain her grades. Jessica has always been a pusher of herself and very devoted and dedicated to something she believes in and enjoys doing. So her level of devotion and passion does not surprise me at all. Like most of the other girl most of her walking, sleeping, dreaming, thinking and breathing time is cheerleading!
We are very proud of her. Her brother is even the mascot. His main reason in doing this was to show his sister how much he does support her.” Coaches feel Starr is a huge success. When she first joined she was so….quiet and we could not get her to say a word.. Now we can’t get her to be quiet.!! She is self motivated and one of the real competitors that will go home and work at as hard a home as she does at practice to perfect a skill. She has really grown as an individual and is starting to lead her teams both at TCB and in Glascock county. Her future in cheerleading has not limits because her expectation, perseverance.. and goal setting will take her to succeed at all she does in life.

I also like coaching the younger girls in Gibson and tumbling classes with Colt. And she has learned… teamwork and motivational skills. Mom says,” Alexis has always loved cheerleading so TCB has been a dream come true to her.
I’ve seen Alexis grow in so many ways in the 3 years she has been a part of the TCB program from someone who couldn’t turn a cartwheel when we first started to someone who now is working on her back tuck. She has more confidence in herself, more determination and more respect for what it takes to be a part of a TCB squad. Her cheerleading and dance skills have helped her to win the title " American Cheerleader" in the America's Miss Tourism Pageant, where she won "Universal Miss Tourism, first place in dance in the Georgia Teen America pageant, along with many other titles and hopefully will continue to help her win this summer at the ANMTC pageant.” Coaches say….Alexis has the drive and potential to accomplish her goals in life. 10 years old
Parents: Donald & Cheryl Sullivan
Thomson, GA
Maghan is going on her third year with TCB and has loved it since day one. When asked what she likes about competitive cheerleading, Maghan states I like going to the competitions and going on stage as well as performing at demos. She really likes being with her friends as well as making new friends each year. Maghan states that she thinks TCB is a great program and has really great coaches. Her favorite skill is tumbling because she likes to run and flip it is just so much fun. When asked if she is ready to compete, YES, I am always ready and I love to watch the other teams to see how good or bad they are. I have learned about how to have good sportsmanship and how to work as a team. I also realize how hard this sport is and appreciate how much time the coaches put into us. I like to fly because when you fly you can be seen most and you get to shine.
Her mom, Cheryl, states that, We love being a part of TCB and the program that is offered to this community. I can remember seeing the ad in the paper and thinking that this was the perfect program for her, she was always jumping around and making up cheers with her friends. I knew she would be great at this. To see how much she has grown and how much the coaches have taught her, makes us feel so proud. She is really good and she always strives to do better each time. Her dad, Donald, really loves going to the competitions and lights up when he sees her on stage and is proud of how she has grown with each tumble and always says we have won first place. This program has helped Maghan learn the concept of being a part of a team and how one person can affect the whole team by her actions or attitude. She has learned to deal with being on top as a National Champ and being ok with not being a National Champ. Learning to lose with grace is also something that she is learning as well..we cant always win, but we can be winners as long as YOU do your best then you always win first place

Uniquequa S. Wilcher
Thomson Competitive Bulldog
Cheerleader of the Month
My name is Uniquequa S. Wilcher. I'm an 8th grader at TMS. This is my third year with Thomson Competitive Bulldog Cheerleaders as a back spotter. I have learned how to be a team player and I understand the importance of teamwork. Being a competitive cheerleader is hard work. We must practice, practice and then practice some more until we get it right. I have learned a great deal by being on a team with varied ages and that sometime adjustments have to be made so that we can be the best that we can be. My coach, Cassidy Adams, is very dedicated and I appreciate her. I do get tired, but in the end its all worth it because I am helping myself to be a better person.
Uniquequa is one of the selected members of the Thomson Competitive Junior Black All Star Squad, the first competitive team that had tryouts. Uniquequa is from Thomson and the daughter of Annette Lott., who says, TCB has been good for Uniquequa. It has motivated her self esteem. Being the only child in my house, she isn't as self centered and she don't mind helping others when she can. I think this a good program and it offers more than just CHEERLEADING for girls and boys alike.
The coaches feel Uniquequa has the right Stuff!!! . She is hardworking and listens, does her job on the team. She had some of the best dance skills, jumps and is developing her tumbling skills. Having mastered the back handspring is ready to learn new skills. Most impressive to her team mates and coaches is her perseverance thought a shoulder injury never quitting and working through the pain to not let her team down in a performance. This is team-manship and what makes every coach proud of an individual.. Uniquequa represents this basic value TCB is trying to build and teach to the cheerleaders. Skills can be taught, Team-manship can be taught but a fighting spirit is something you are born with.. These attributes is what it takes to make great teams.
