TCB Cheerleaders wins National Titles
Thomson Competitive Bulldogs returned to Atlanta this past weekend competing with 820 teams in the Cheersport Nationals at the Georgia Congress Center with over 100,000 people in attendance, the second largest convention held in our capitol city! TCB made its presence known; each team performed phenomenally hitting their routines with no major falls or deductions. The competition was tuff and intense for all competitors with five judges from all angles. This is the best of the best from 37 states and several countries. At the completion of the first day, both Senior teams were in first, Junior Black was in second by half a point. Youth Gold in second by several points and youth black in one of the largest and hardest division at Cheersport in fifth place. Youth Gold team which consists of cheerleaders from age 6 – 11, they won the second day but did not have enough points to oust the first place team out of first. The All Star Youth Black which consist of cheerleaders from 9 - 11 competed in one of the most popular and demanding division. The division had over 40 teams competing and was sub divided into four sessions. They came home with a fifth. The All-Star Junior Black team is also in a large demanding division. They had two falls on the second day causing them to fall to fifth. This team has been so consistent all year it was a heart breaker. Senior Gold team were the defending champions and left no doubt with a 28 point lead after the first day, but the 2nd place Maryland team did not come to Georgia to get beat by some Georgia hicks. They came in first the second day but could not oust the defending champions. The newly formed All Star Senior Black team took control on Saturday and sealed it on Sunday with a phenomenal routine… scoring one of the top score in the 820 teams competing and receiving a 10 for jumps.Competition is fun and demanding and the cheerleaders were awesome. Each year the competition gets tougher and the competition is bigger. Just watching these 87 plus cheerleaders perform against teams that have been competing for over ten to fifteen years, and winning with the big boys, makes me realize the talent and potential in our youth. The talents we are developing are God Given talents and are meant to shine. TCB started with one backhand spring and 15 girls. It has grown to five squads from age 6 to 18 years of age. All that is required is a good attitude and good work ethics. The talent can be taught and these girls are proof of that.
TCB Thomson Competitive Bulldogs are a competitive cheer organization. We educate and train children on the technical aspects of cheerleading: encouraging positive sportsmanship, leadership, dedication, values & teamwork.
Cheerleading has become a sport that keeps our children conditioned & working together as a team. Over the past 20 years cheerleading has developed into a sport. No longer are girls just standing on the sideline cheering on the athletes. They are the athletes! Cheer takes the strength of a football player, the grace of a dancer and the agility of a gymnast.
We are an award winning competitive cheer group that competes in various competitions throughout the south east. We currently have representives from Jefferson, Glascock, Lincolnton, Warrenton and McDuffie counties.
Come join us, we are located east of Augusta, Georgia. We currently have three teams for young ladies interested in competing in cheerleading as a competitive sport:
Senior Teams consist of Nineth to Twelfth Grade
Junior Teams consist of First to Ninth Grade
Youth Teams consist of First to Sixth Grade. We also offer developmental gymnastic tumbling classes at the new Sweetwater Gym. These classes consist of 1 hours of tumbling followed by 30 minutes of conditioning.
Still have a few spots open, Call for information!
Thomson Competitive Bulldogs is a program of the McDuffie County Recreation Competitve Cheerleading and Gymnastic Program.
