Kat Hollingsworth, Belmont University, Mel Jaegers, Wichita State University and Devon Wallace, Arkansas University all played this past weekend at Baylor. Brian and Kent attended the games and were very pleased with their play. They all looked good in their initial college weekend.

Mel hit a ball off the wall against Baylor and went 2 for 2 and caught or played 3rd the whole weekend.

Kat hit 2nd in the line up for Belmont and played the outfield all weekend for them.

And Devon......WOW....did she have a good weekend.  She hit a lead off homerun against Iowa, 2 RBI double against Baylor. Devon had 6 hits with 14 at bats. 3 doubles and a home run and went .429 with and .857 slugging percentage.

We look forward to an entire season of great softball from these great ladies!

Texas Rapid Fire Gold reviews Texas Coaches Softball Rankings January 27th, 2012

As the High School season approaches the Texas Rapid Fire players are gearing up for some challenging competition and runs for the State Championships in Austin Texas this year. Eleven players on the TRF are listed in the Coaches Poll to compete in the top teams in the State.

http://www.austintgca.com/softball/polls.html

In TAPPS we have Liberty Christians Anna Payne leading them to a challenging season and no rankings have been released yet. Stay tuned!

In Class 3a, Erin Knox and West High School are chosen as the three seed in the state! Also mentioned was Briana Whisenhunt’s Crandall in the honorable mention section to compete as the 34th seed in the state!

In Class 4A,  Kyla Simmons team Royse City, was voted as a number 8 seed this year. Kaytie Proctor’s team Frisco Centennial made the honorable mention list and looks like they have the 23 seed! In Class 5 A we have Hannah Null and Kelly Johnson leading the poll with Marcus in the number 19 spot  Cross town rival’s Brooke Holloway, Alex Jennings and Kelly Powell of Flower Mound were ranked in the 21 spot while Heather Stearns and her Hebron team ranked 28th. Holly Neese and Plano West are sleepers here in this hunt along with Kelsey Coburn and Haley Howerton on Lewisville’s squad. The sleeper here is Kendall Potts team Mansfield Legacy which didn’t get the respect they deserve, stay tuned!

All of these Class 5 teams compete in arguably the best division in the state of Texas and maybe in the country. 5 of the 8 teams in the district are ranked in the top 45 in the state and any team is capable of winning on any given day. There is not a game off or inning off in this tough district. Only the best 4 will survive to the playoffs and then bracket into the likes of Keller, Denton Guyer and Southlake Carroll, all ranked teams as well. Wow what a tough road and great competition and experience.

Best of luck to all TRF Players and parents for an exciting season of High School ball!
