Team Dayton takes COSA Fall Classic
Team Dayton played in the COSA Fall Classic tournament in Westerville, Ohio, at Cooper Park this past weekend November 7 & 8, 2009.  We played in the Boys U11 Green (top) division.  This was our final tournament for the Fall season and it provided very good competition to end the season with.  Team Dayton started off strong in their first game against Classics FC on Saturday morning, but was not able to hold on and ended up losing 3-5.  Their second game on Saturday ended with a 2-1 win over Dublin United.  On Sunday, Team Dayton secured their spot in the Finals with a 2-0 win over Thunder United.  Sunday afternoon's Finals consisted of a rematch between first seed Classics FC and second seed Team Dayton.  The boys knew what they were up against having played the Classics on Saturday morning and were ready for the challenge.  It was a well fought game from both sides ending in a 2-2 tie.  The boys, once again, were able to put balls past the keeper and into the net during the PK tiebreaker.  After only 4 attempts of the 5 PKs, Team Dayton won 3-1.  The boys played very well this weekend and we are proud of them and their accomplishments!

Team Dayton at Fall Finale
Team Dayton played in the Ohio Elite Fall Finale this past weekend, October 24 & 25, 2009.  This premier tournament was held at the Miami Whitewater Soccer Complex.  Our first game on Saturday morning was easily won with a score of 4-1.  Our boys were just not able to hold onto a 2-0 lead during the second game and ended up losing 3-2 to Carmel United Elite.  No harm done as winning our third game, the semi-finals, would send us to the finals.  The boys played very hard and showed that they really wanted this win.  It was disappointing that due to missed opportunities and poor officiating that we fell short and lost by one goal to Carmel United Premier with a score of 2-1.  Even though Team Dayton didnt bring home the hardware this past weekend, they showed that they are a talented team that can work together.  That in itself is a win!  Keep up the good work Team Dayton 98!

Team Dayton Falls Short at Mead Cup
Team Dayton 98 played in the Mead Cup Invitational Soccer Tournament this past Labor Day weekend, September 5 & 6, 2009.  Top notch teams come from all across the country to play in this tournament.  Even though we won the Gold division last year, we were still placed in the Gold division again this year.  Therefore, we had high hopes of winning it again.  Although the boys played hard, we just couldnt get a handle on our first game against KFC Elite.  A team whom we had just beat two weeks ago in the Cincinnati United tournament.  Team Dayton lost 0-3.  The next two games proved to be a little easier and Team Dayton won 7-3 and 3-1 thus giving us a 2-1-0 record for the weekend.  KFC ended the weekend with the same overall record but they were able to advance to the semi-finals instead of us due to head-to-head ruling.  As much as it was disappointing that we did not capture a second tournament victory, it was also a learning experience that any good team can be beat on any given day.  We are still proud of our boys and hope to have better luck next year!

Team Dayton Takes The Donatos Classic by Storm!
Team Dayton played in the Donatos Soccer Classic this past weekend, August 29 & 30, 2009, at NCA Park in Columbus OH.  We were in the U11 Boys Series A division playing some of the top teams in Ohio.  The boys easily won their first two games on Saturday 8-0 and 6-0.  This giving them great confidence for their game on Sunday against the 2009 State Cup Champions, Blast FC.  This proved to be their toughest game to date.  The boys were challenged in every aspect of their game.  Their hard work paid off as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.  Since both teams had the same point standing for the tournament, the deciding factor for which team advances to the Finals was a shootout.  Keeping the shootout just as exciting as the game, it ended in a 3-3 tie!  Next comes head-to-head shootout.  Blast FC misses their first shot, Colin puts it in the back of the net and Team Dayton advances to the Finals.  Team Dayton kept the pressure on and wore down the OP Eagles, another highly ranked team, to win the game 3-0.  This giving Team Dayton a shutout for the entire tournament!  Well Done Boys!!!

Team Dayton Takes 3rd in Cincinnati United Cup
Team Dayton U11 Boys played in the 2009 Cincinnati United Cup (formerly Arsenal Challenge Cup) this past weekend, August 15 & 16.  They played in the U11 Boys Gold Division with seven other teams of which three were from out of state.  It proved to be a challenging weekend for our newly formed 8v8 team.  This being their first experience playing the 8v8 format together.  However, that didnt seem to bother them as they played very well, becoming more confident with each game.  Especially under the hot 90 degree heat and humidity!  The team went 2-1-0 during bracket play and unfortunately was not able to advance to the finals.  We lost our first game to what turned out to be the tournament Champions, CUP Boca Juniors who didnt give up a goal all weekend, and werent able to advance.  However, we did advance to play for 3-4 place.  Playing Knoxville FC Crush Elite.  Team Dayton gave it their all and their persistance at driving the ball down the field was all it took to edge out Knoxville 2-1, taking 3rd place.  The boys showed great promise for an exciting and successful year ahead!  Keep it up Team Dayton '98!

Team Dayton 98 wins American Cup Tournament

Team Dayton 98 continues their tournament winning streak and takes first place in the American Cup Soccer Tournament that was held in Fairfield Ohio on September 13 & 14, 2008.  This was a round robin format tournament against 4 teams in and around the Cincinnati area.  Team Dayton went 4-0.

This was a great way to end our Fall tournament schedule.  Another great job, Boys - keep it up!

Team Dayton 98 wins first place in Mead Cup
Team Dayton 98 played in the Mead Cup Soccer tournament (B10 Gold division) in Centerville, OH, over Labor Day weekend.  This is a very large tournament with teams coming from all over to compete against the best.  This was only Team Dayton's second tournament to date and they played with great confidence.  Winning two of their three preliminary games.  The final game was played on Monday at 12 noon under a very hot 90 degree sun.  But that didn't seem to bother the boys who took the field with high energy and hungry for a first place finish.  The game ended with a 5-0 win over Cincinnati Futbol Academy-Thunder Gold from Cincinnati, Ohio.  This is certainly another great accomplishment for a newly formed team and a great way to start off the Fall season.  WAY TO GO Team Dayton Boys!!!

Monday, August 18
Team Dayton 98 Places Second in Arsenal Tournament
Team Dayton played in the Arsenal Challenge Cup B10 Gold division in Cincinnati on August 16 & 17th.  This being their first tournament and first games played together as a new team.  The boys played very well together winning two of the three preliminary games.  After many missed opportunities, they just weren't able to get the ball in the net and lost 2-1 to Knoxville FC Crush of Tennessee taking second place overall.  This is a great accomplishment for a newly formed team and we are very proud of the boys.

The 3v3 Live National Championship soccer tournament was held in Cincinnati Ohio on July 26-27, 2008.  Teams participating came from many different states and Canada after winning their regional qualifying tournaments.   Coaches Paul Springer and Ross Garber confidently took the young team toe to toe with some of the nation's best.  Team Dayton fell 3-2 in the national title game in a hard fought battle against Team Challenger from the Cleveland, Ohio, area.

Team Dayton advanced to the national championships by placing first in the regional tournament.
