Time during the off season it will take to be an above average wrestler.
There are 24 hours in a day. Multiply that by 7 days in a week and you have a total of 168 hours in a week. If you minus 8 hours a day for sleep you still have a total of 112 hours left in your week. Now let's subtract 24 more hours out of that 112 hour total for Sunday, because no wrestler wants to practice on Sundays. You still have a total of 88 hours left in your week Now lets take away 4-6 hours out of that week for you to come to practice, 2 hours 2-3 times a week and you still have a total of 82-84 hours left in your week to play and goof around with. I know that its hard to keep focus on the big picture but you have to understand that in a sport like wrestling we only have each other and that it's not about you or me its about us - the Team. When you miss practice or do something to make your parents have you miss think about your teammates who need you to drill with them,. Time only goes forwards not backwards and you can never ever make that time up. We as true wrestlers have to keep in mind and let our parents know that we really want to be good at this sport and that we only have each other to get better with. Remember the big picture and get in shape. It's really not that much of your time. Your can lift weights, shadow drill, wrestle with a buddy out in the yard. Do your pre practice workout morning and night. A little bit everyday will help for next season. Try to get to a camp if possible. Call Tommie or Roger for suggestions.
Shake it off!!!!
One day a farmers donkey fell into a well. The animal cried pitifully for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally the farmer decided the animal was too old and the well needed to be covered anyway. It just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. So the farmer decided to invite all of his neighbors to come over and help him.
All the neighbors grabbed a shovel and they all began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to every one's amazement, he calmed down. A few shovel loads later the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw!
With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmers neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
Moral of the Story:
Life is going to shovel a lot of dirt on you - all kinds of dirt. The trick is to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
