Team NorthShore's own Maimon Lusky is, after four years of trying to get into this race, ran and finished. Maimon as well as any one of the more than 700,000 past participants will attest, crossing the finish line in Central Park is one of the great thrills of a lifetime. Chicago Lakefront 50/50 Saturday, November 1st. Two Ultra Marathons 50 Mile start 6:30 AM 50K (31.1 miles) Start 8:30 AM Guess who's doing the 50K - That's right it's David Cahnman. Last year David ran the Marathon that was put together with this race and he qualified for Boston. That was good but the race shirt he received says ultramarathon and he only ran a marathon, not an ultramarathon. That meant that he couldnt wear it because the club by-laws forbid wearing a shirt for a race that you didnt run and finish. So thats why hes running this race so he can wear the shirt! Results: David gets to wear the shirt! Not only that he also gets a trophy for being #2 in his age group with a finish time of 4:39:27. Grand Rapids Marathon October 19, 2008 Marisa Torre ran this race as a first time marathoner. And all of Team NorthShore cheered, "YOU DID IT MARISA!! A giant CONGRATULATIONS to Marisa on completing the Marathon! If they make a movie called "Spirit of the Marathon II" you would be the star of the show!!!!! Congratulations again and how great it will be to celebrate with you in person!! The Team Marisa add, "let's do this marathon next year as a team and forget about hot weather marathons!" Founded in 2004, the GRM delivers a fun, highly personal, authentic race experience, particularly for runners who value a well-organized, personal experience over the chaotic, crowded fields of big city races through concrete canyons. The good news was that my foot did not hurt, so I know I can do it again. I missed the rain and the sun, so the weather was ideal!" Jeannie Ryan says, "I finish with a modest 25.56 and am very happy about it. Not my fastest 5K but better than last years" Peter Keller with a 19:13 time for #25 overall and #2 in his age group had this to say,"I was trying to break 19 minutes in the 5K. When the race was over, the announcer apologized that there were 2 races. The lead group was taken down the wrong street, so I ran a little further than 5K. The rest of the runners (including my two daughters) were led in the right direction. Sh'e Got Sole The Universal Sole Sh'e Got Sole Women's only 8K SUNDAY, JUNE 22nd. Why we run races! Joe Weber (Evanston) & 'Trail'Bob Herskovitz (Glencoe) The full marathon route had to be changed at the last minute because of a structure fire along the final stretch of the Marathon route. The three-alarm fire sparked about an hour and a half before the scheduled start of the Marathon, and three houses involved in the fire were destroyed. The Marathon staff, Cincinnati Police and Fire departments acted quickly to re-route the Marathon runners. The course is being re-certified. According to Marathon Executive Director Iris Simpson-Bush, "after the new distance is measured, we can deduct runner's times by determining their pace and then apply it to a 26.2-mile distance." USATF has recertified the course and times has been adjusted down." OLPHun RUN Click here to check results Glenview, Illinois Sunday, May 04, 2008 8:00 AM Written by Barbara Miller. (Edited by the webmaster. To read the full write up, check out the Message Boards.) By far the biggest news of the day was Chris McCormick's return from England!!! He managed to pull off a business trip to Chicago timed to coincide with the defense of his title. Alas, he came in third this year (17:10; 5:32 pace) and second in his age/gender group. Chris had a colleague with him who is from South Africa so our little neighborhood 5K proved to be quite the far flung international draw. ...It was a perfect day. Sunny and about 50 degrees at the start. Just a hint of a breeze. More runners than I recall from the past two years and lots of kids who were hanging in there pretty well to the end -- though most seem to run in a spurty sort of way. Current TNS members running today included Anatoly, Adrian, Peter Keller (who ran to the race site!), Chris Two and me. Peter, Chris and I were each second in our age/gender groups.
