How is a Pop Warner Little Scholar All-American determined?
To be considered for recognition nationally as a Pop Warner Little Scholar All-American, a TRLI participant needs:
    1. To be in the 5th grade or higher during the current Pop Warner season.
    2. To have a grade point average (GPA) of 96.0 or higher for the entire previous school year. The GPA calculation excludes athletic grades such as physical education and health.
    3. To submit a signed PW All-American application through the TRLI scholarship coordinator. The application should include activities such as academic honors, extracurricular activities unrelated to sports, and community service-related activities only from the past year.

Why are Report Cards Submitted to TRLI?
TRLI athletes eligible for PWLS AA recognition are determined based on grades submitted for each participant. TRLI children/parents are asked to submit 2 copies of his/her report card in early August (when practice starts). One report card copy goes to the scholarship coordinator for grade point average calculation. The other copy remains with the participant's "book," which a coach or team parent keeps current for team certification.

How Do Pop Warner Little Scholar All-Americans Get Selected?
The TRLI scholarship coordinator calculates an average GPA for each athlete. A team average is calculated when all team member GPAs are complete, as required by Pop Warner National for team certification. Parents of athletes who have a 96.0 average or higher are contacted by the TRLI scholarship coordinator, and requested to work with her to prepare the Pop Warner Little Scholar All-American Scholar application "package." All TRLI applications are handed to the Jersey Shore Pop Warner scholastic commissioner soon after the season starts in September. Pop Warner announces All-American Scholars on April 1st. You can view them, the All-American process in detail and forms at their website: www.popwarner.com.

How is the Pop Warner Eastern Region Scholar team determined?
The Jersey Shore Pop Warner scholarship commissioner hands off All-American Scholar applications to the Eastern Region commissioner. Region scholars are announced in January on their website.

How are TRLI Scholars determined?
For recognition as a Toms River Little Indian Scholar, this year the TRLI Board of Directors agreed to recognize all TRLI participants in all grades who has a GPA of 96.0 or higher. At the annual banquet, each TRLI Scholar received recognition for his or her academic achievement.
