November 05, 2008
NEW LONDON, Conn. --Connecticut College junior Mickey Lenzi of Hauppauge N.Y. has been named to the ESPN The Magazine District One Men´s Soccer All-Academic Second Team.
A Dean´s High Honors student, Lenzi is majoring in English while pursuing a minor in Government.
Lenzi anchored the middle of a Connecticut College defense that posted three shutouts. His stellar defensive play helped the Camels blank the #1 ranked offensive team in the NESCAC, leading his club in a 1-0 victory at Amherst October 8.
The Camels posted a 3-5-1 conference record, attaining the program´s highest point total in the NESCAC Standings. Connecticut College head coach Bill Lessig was pleased with Lenzi´s achievement.
"Mickey is a team leader for us," Lessig said. "Despite his high GPA in English, he has never learned how to spell the word lose. He has gained a great deal of respect from his teammates and is certainly in line for team captainship next year."
Lenzi mentors incoming students as advisor for College. He has volunteered as a tutor with the Benny Dover Jr. High School in New London and at the College's Children's Center.
A versatile two sport athlete, Lenzi is a prominent contributor to the track & field program. He holds the school record in the pentathlon.

Graduated Hauppauge HS in 2004- Was a 3x league champion, won awards of all
conference and all county, played in exceptional senior game, captain senior
year and a ducky keeper which was never lost in my handling.
College- Currently playing at SJC- started all four years, won rookie of the
year in the conference as a freshmen, 2x all conference team, 2x points and
goal leader of the team, captain- junior and senior year, hoping to win the
conference this year and not go into PKs, we need a ducky.
Memories throughout my hs career:
Starting off sophomore year when we shaved our heads for the playoffs- we
looked like cancer patients. Then in senior year- scoring with 30 secs left
to tie up the game againt EI in the playoffs, doing the YMCA as our warmup
before big games, beating Sachem 6-0 under the lights, being ranked by USA
TODAY's in the top 25, and Nick Benz running into the post while scoring a
goal and taking off his family jewels. He really hugged and caresssed the
post. The most memorable things about playing at Hauppauge High were the
crazy fans, my teammates(the most motivated and determined team I ever
played with), the system, and Ruff without any of these life at Hauppauge
High would have not been the same.

Tom Moore- Bucknell University Lacrosse
In 2006: Played in 12 games and was a regular on the man-up team ... Finished with two goals and two assists, with all the points coming man-up ... Scored goals against Lafayette and Air Force ... Assists came against Navy and Maryland ... Picked up three ground balls ... In 2005: Played in 11 games off the bench, with most of his time coming with the EMO unit ... Tallied a goal and four assists ... Had one goal and one assist vs. Holy Cross ... Also had assists against Harvard, Lafayette and Army ... Personal: Son of Michael and Patricia Moore ... Born Oct. 10, 1986 in Manhasset, N.Y. ... 2004 graduate of Hauppage High School ... Lettered three times each in lacrosse and soccer and twice in basketball ... Captained lacrosse and soccer teams ... All-county lacrosse selection ... Scholar-Athlete honoree in lax and soccer ... Academic all-county in basketball ... Also an all-conference soccer player.
Frank Fedorjaka on Moore: "Tommy won our Bison Award last year in honor of the attitude and character he brings to the team every day. He is a natural lefty who is a skilled feeder and finisher. He has gotten good experience as an EMO specialist over the past two years."
As I write this, BUCKNELL is currently ranked #14 in the USA.

Chelsea Piers Bluestreak
Chris Gannon
Soccer Program Coordinator
A Long Island native, Chris was an All-State, All-East Coast soccer and baseball player at Hauppauge High School, where he held over 7 single-season records. At Nassau Community College in Garden City, Chris was a two-time All-American soccer player who took his team to the Final Four in 2000. While at Nassau, he was the Region XV NJCAA Junior College Player of the Year, Junior College Runner-Up National Player of the Year, and represented Nassau with the Who's Who Among American College Students award for academics and athletics. At North Carolina State University, in 2003 Chris captained N.C. State to its first NCAA tournament appearance in over a decade. Playing in the top-rated Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) at N.C. State, he started every game at center midfield and also represented the team on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Chris leadership roles have continued in his years beyond college. He has captained the Empire State Games Men's open Long Island soccer team from 2002-2006 and was an assistant coach for the high school Empire State Games Long Island team in 2006. Prior to becoming the Soccer Coordinator for Chelsea Piers BlueStreak, he was an assistant coach for N.C. States Mens soccer team under George Tarantini.
Soccer is a game of small advantages and inches; being a step quicker or a split-second faster is the difference between winning 50/50 balls and beating your opponent 1 on 1.

2006 Playoffs - Northport Defeats Hauppauge-
Bad job-again- but the Soccer Seeding Committeee. Hauppauge should have been a 9 seed in Suffolk ended up being a 13 seed and thus having to play League II Champion Northport at Northport. League IV gets "dissed" again.
After playing a scoreless first half, Northport scored the only goal of the game halfway through the second half on a dead ball situation. From 30 yards out a Northport player lifted a ball into the Hauppauge penalty area where another Northport player headed the ball passed the Hauppauge keeper.

The scored remained tie until a zebra awarded Hauppauge a PK with a little over 5 minutes to go in the non-league contest. Mike Powers took the PK and placed in outside the Lindenhurst keeper's reach to propel Hauppauge to victory.

2005- Eagles Defeat Bulldogs In Playoff Opener
Again the seeding committee of Suffolk County did a lousy job- two miscues by the committee in my view.
Hauppauge was given the 4 seed; they should have been the 3 seed-first mistake.
North Baby lon, the 4th place team in League IV was forced to play Hauppauge, theundeated League IV champion. No chance for North Babylon, and in reality, no playoff experience for Hauppauge- second mistake. This game was over on the initial whistle of the game. The seeding committee must do better.

Copiague caught Hauppauge sleeping in the early part of this game. It took Copiague but 15 seconds to score against Hauppauge. At 3:45 into the game, Copiague was leading 3-0. How big was the party last night? Finally the Hauppauge Eagles, though embarrassed got its game in gear. Hauppauge scored 6 goals in the last 18 minutes of the half to lead Copiague 6-3. This is soccer? With 3 more goals in the second half, Hauppauge EASILY defeated Copiague 9-3. This is soccer?

2005- Eagles defeat Eagles
The Hauppauge Eagles easily defeated the Copiague Eagles by a score of 6-0. All of Hauppauge's 6 scores go under the category of "ugly", but they still count- just ask Copiague. Four goals came from dead ball situations- one corner, one throw-in, and two free kicks.
Hauppauge was led by Adam Rogers 2 goals. Adam also had an assist.
Brett Cabrera now has 2 goals- Bryan Cabrera still has none.
Jon Flood recorded the shutout registering 11 saves.
John Lyons and Steve Panagatos got into the scorebook by gathering yellow cards.

Bellport forgot to show up. With a reasonable chance to secure a position in the Suffolk County Playoffs, the Bellport soccer team forgot to show up at its home field.
Eight minutes into the game, Paul Boucher scored on a direct kick passed the Clipper keeper. Then in the last 10 minutes of the half,
Adam Rogers scored twice for the Eagles. Game over. Time to go home.
Unfortunately for Bellport the officials said that they must play a second half. Five more goals for the Eagles. 8-0. Sebastian Iamunno scored twice, Justian Flood scored twice, and Jesse Weiner all scored in the second half.

2004-THE EAGLES TIE 0-0 IN RAIN
Nothing went right this day. Nothing.
Hauppauge wanted to pay back Copiague for an earlier season loss, but nothing went right this day. A miserable day turned more miserable as it started to drizzle as the game began.
Hauppauge dominated throughout but no scoring in the first half.
Mike Simonelli got a yellow card in the first half but Hauppauge got nothing else.
THe rain got heavier and the game got nastier. Heavier, nastier.
Hauppauge threatened throughout. Finally, with 18 minutes left, the Copiague keeper whose was bent on hurting someone took Orange Lenzi down in the box. HOORAY for Hauppauge--or so I thought. Ruffini went onto the field to see if Orange was hurt. The ref stuck up a yellow card which convinced me that we had a PK. Bad brain waves on my part. He was giving Lenzi and the Copiague keeper a yellow. I explained my view of the play and he explained his. Needless to say, we didn't agree. Then the Copiague Coach got involved and then the refs REALLY got angry. He threatened to give both players a red card instead of the yellow. And the the Copiague Coach bought up the issue of how "dangerous" the field conditions were. Both officials agreed. Three votes for stopping(2 refs & Copiague Coach) and me hanging with little or no choice but to agree. I should have agreed to stop only after regulation time and I should have argued to finish the game to regulation. I might have won; I might have lost. I had bad thoughts about a bad goal against Hauppauge; I had bad thoughts about a field related injury to a Hauppauge player ; and I had bad thoughts about Orange getting a red card. I wonder what I might do if I had the same choice again. Or did I really have a choice?
Two other games that day also had weather related endings.
HAUPPAUGE was dominating. COPIAGUE knew it. Wait until the playoffs.
Hauppauge still in League IV Championship contention but we need some breaks.

2003- HAUPPAUGE TIES WEST BABYLON
Game date 9/9/03
Paul Boucher scored from 20 yards out, and with 30 minutes left in the second half, to enable the Eagles of Hauppauge to tie the Eagles of West Babylon. Paul was assisted by Orange Lenzi and Robert Wood.
Scott Bishop had 7 saves in the Hauppauge net.
West Babylon scored 2 minutes into the second half. It is obvious that the speech that the West Babylon coach gave at halftime far surpassed the speech given by Ruffini. Ruffini must have put them to sleep. The West Babylon goal awakened Hauppauge who dominated the rest of the second half but could not dent the West Babylon net. Close often but no cigar.
Senior Captain Steve Mullady was injured and did not return to play. His status is undetermined.

2003-HAUPPAUGE BEATS SMITHTOWN
Game date 9/10/03
Yesterday Hauppauge defeated Smithtown by a score of 1-0. The victory gave the Eagles a small amount of revenge. Last season Smithtown defeated Hauppauge in a Suffolk County semi-final playoff game via the penalty shot format. The game ended up 1-1 after 4 overtimes. In the shootout, Smithtown defeated Hauppauge 5-4 to advance to the County Final.
Yesterday's game, played on a gorgeous Fall day, had nowhere the intensity of a playoff game but both teams did give 100% for the entire 80 minutes.. Both teams played suberbly.
The winning , and only goal of the game came with 8 seconds remaining in the first half. Orange Lenzi pushed a ball into the corner where Chris Kunzig would cross the ball into the Smithtown penalty area. Scott Mustapich, looking for his first varsity goal, found his first varsity goal. Scott headed in the cross from Kunzig.
Thiswould be the only goal scored yesterday afternoon. Both keeper, Bishop from Hauppauge(10 saves) and Munoz from Smithtown(5 saves) were exceptional on defense.
Orange Lenzi took one for the team and "rested" for the second half.
Steve Mullady gave up his team so that he could sit at the Smithtown scorer's table to get a better viewof the game.
Justin Flood ate Wendy's on the sideline.
Ruffini threatened to step on all cell phones.
Scott Bishop and Bob Wood had their eyes CLOSED while attempting to play an air ball. Pretty funny picture in Newsday.

2003- EAGLES LUCKY TO SALVAGE TIE
Game date:9/12/03
After taking a 2-0 in the first half, the Hauppauge Eagles were fortunate to hold off a very determined Bay Shore team and come out with a tie.. Bay Shore rallied with two goals in the second half to tie Hauppauge 2-2.
Hauppauge took a 1-0 lead at 5:40 of the first half as Mike Berka scored his second goal of the season. Berka has been a pleasant surprise this season.
Orange Lenzi scored his third goal of the season 33 minutes into the second half. Orange is Hauppauge's leading goal scorer.
Chris Kunzig assisted on both Eagle goals.
The Bay Shore keeper made an outstanding stop on Paul Boucher to keep the score at 2-0. Hauppauge would not be close to scoring again in this game. Hauppauge played much too safe; playing too much defense can only lead to defeat. PLAY TO WIN-DO NOT PLAY NOT TO LOSE.
Bay Shore scored the only two goals in the second half. They almost had a third ,but stopper Tommy Moore prevented the third goal with a "hockey kick save" with but minutes left in the game to keep the score at 2-2.
Ruffini not a happy camper. Changes will be forthcoming. The team as it is structured right now will not win a league championship; however, I plan on winning a league championship.
Mike Simonelli injured in second half.
Scott Mustapich got the motorcycle ref to give him a "yellow card".
Chris Kunzig has a sore back from trying to carry the team.

2003- EAGLES WIN LEAGUE OPENER
Game date 9/16:
The 2003 League IV opening game for Hauppauge proved to be very successful. The Eagles defeated Kings Park 4-0.
Paul Boucher started the scoring for Hauppauge at 9:42 of the first half by converting a cross from Chris Kunzig. Bob White(of ornithological fame) scored the Eagles second goal of the first half.
Kings Park came out strong at the beginning of the second half. Only a great save by Scott Bishop kept the Kingmen from scoring. This was the only dangerous situation presented to Hauppauge throughout the remainder of the contest.
OrangeLenzi and Steve Mullady scored for the Eagles in the second half.
Orange Lenzi finished the game with a goal and an assist. Chris Kunzig contributed ywo assists. Scott Mustapich had 2 assists and many lunar space shots. Paul Boucher had a goal and an assist.
Dan Kelly made his initial appearance at striker.
Bob White may have tied a school record for being only 3 yards from an open net and putting the ball over the crossbar. This record isshared by many.

2003-EAGLES DEFEAT HILLS EAST THUNDERBIRDS
Game Date 9/20/03
On a beautiful Fall day, the Hauppauge Eagles defeated the Thunderbirds of Hills East 2-0.
Hauppauge scored a goal in each half. The first goal was Robert White's second score of the year. Chris Kunzig scored in the second half.
Scott Bishop was never seriously threatened by Hills East. Scott recorded his 4th shutout of the season by stopping five Hills East shots.
In the first half, Mark Oliveri chipped a dead ball into the penalty area where it was deflected by Steve Mullady to Bob White. Bob put it into the back of the net at 4:16 into the opening period.
In the second half, on a double wing buildup from Scott Mustapich and Paul Boucher, Chris Kunzig took Boucher's cross and hammered home Hauppauge's second goal with 27:16 gone by in the half.
White's goal came of a set play that the Eagles worked on during the week.
Steve Mullady and Mike Berka won the "lucky yellow card award" from the game officials.
Markus Gluck cut the legs from a Hills East player in the penalty box and got away with it. No call and the score stayed at 1-0.
Hills East fans do not like Tom Moore.

2003- HAUPPAUGE EAGLES RULE
Game date: 9/23/03
The Hauppauge Eagles defeated the Copiague Eagles 5-0 yesterday at a game played at Hauppauge.
Hauppauge was given a gift first goal. A Copiague defender took down Orange Lenzi in the penalty box at 13:50 of the first half. Chris Kunzig scored on the PK.
Steve Mullady registered his second score of the season when he netted a deflected shot passed the Copiague keeper. As it says in the scorebook, a "cute shot".
The second half contained shots and scores usually not associated with Hauppauge goal scorers. Steve Mullady scored with his left foot and Scott Mustapich scored with his right foot. These events are more rare than a Dodo Bird. Justin Flood finished the goal scoring for Hauppauge.
Dom Zicaro and Joe Janssen got their first varsity points. Dom assisted on Justin's goal and Joe assisted on Mullady's second goal.
The Nile River stopped flowing at the Hauppauge bench.
Danny Corcoran got his first varsity statistic- a yellow card.
Tom Moore took one in the face for the team.
Joe Janssen took one in the groin for the team.
Two world travelers are now on the Hauppauge team. Joe Janssen and Mike Simonelli. both right midfielders, ended up on the left side of the field. Release your man.
Yesterday's guests included Sean Hughes, Dennis "Drod" Onorato, and Tim Thorn. Gentlemen, thank you for stopping by.

2003- EAGLES CLAW FALCONS
Game Date: 9/25/03
In a very exciting game played last Thursday, the Hauppauge Eagles defeated the Deer Park Falcon 1-0.
Paul Boucher scored his 4th goal of the season on assists from Musty Mustapich and Chris Kunzig at of the first half.
Deer Park hit the crossbar twice in the first half and definitely could have won this game. Scot Bishop made an outstanding save early in the first half on a Deer Park breakaway.
However, Deer Park was never close to scoring in the second half.
Justin Flood took a yellow card. Markus Gluck took a yellow card for being run over by a Deer Park attacker three times. The refs tried to saved his life by sending him off the field.
There was a definite difference in the total amount of fouls called on the respective teams. My comment will terminate here.
Joe Janssen had "Barbie Doll" shin guards and was prohibited from playing by the officials.
Dan Kelly returned to the team after a trial run with NASCAR.
Lenny turned his bus into a wrecking machine in the parking lot.
Bus ride home had many prima ballerinas struting their stuff in the aisles.
Mr. Gluck called Newsday with the results because Ruff had to go bowling.

2003- EAGLES DEFEAT COLTS
Game date 9/30/03
Justin Flood tallies a HAT TRICK.
In a game where an ex-Hauppauge Eagle soccer player came back to his roots as the head coach of the opposing Hills East Colts, the Hauppauge Eagles defeated the Hills West Colts by a score of 5-1. Doug Gannon, a star at Hauppauge in his youth, returned to the field of his stardom as the Head Coach of Hills West.
Hauppauge treated Gannon's Colts as they try to do with every visiting team: no friendship between the lines. Hauppauge defeated the Colts 5-1.
After a very close first half, Hauppauge dominated the second half by scoring four goals to one by Hills West. The Hills West goal was the first against Hauppauge in league play this season.
In a period of less than 6 minutes, the Eagles scored a quick three goals against Hills West. Bob White of ornithological fame, Steve Mullady, and Justin Flood scored within this time frame. Justin added his second goals after Hills West scored on a PK.
Dom Zicaro knocked his man of the ball in the box and the referee decided that it merited a PK. Not all of us agreed with the official.
The Hills West uniforms are still the worst in the league. Mr. Finn loves them but Mr. Gannon is not as loving as Mr. Finn.
Hills West 0 1 1

2003- EAGLES CLIP CLIPPERS
Game date 10/2/03
Such a bad headline.
On a cold, raw, windy day, the Eagles of Hauppauge defeated Bellport High School 1-0 in a closely fought League IV game.
Score 0-0 at the half and the Eagles not looking pretty.
However at 1:41 of half 2, Justin Flood deflected in a Paul Boucher cross to give the Hauppauge Eagles the only goal of the game. Hauppauge had three other good chances but all went directly to the Bellport keeper. This made the game real tight.
With 17 minutes to go, Paul Boucher took a trip over a Bellportplayer's back and landed on his own. He did not move for 15 minutes. Paul was taken to the hospital. This was a very scary situation. The team's attention went from the game to Paul's injury.
Larry Kunzig is thanked for his assistance in helping to direct Paul to the appropriate safe haven-the hospital. Paul was released later that night.
Highlights of the game are limited but include watching the Bellport coaches freeze their butts off because they wore team shorts to the game. Another highlight was watching Ruffini trying to work a cellular phone- not an event in my life. I still use smoke signals.

Kings Park is missing its top two players. The battle should be over quickly.
Justin Flood with a direct kick goal 12 minutes into the game opens up the flood gates. No play on words intended.
The next 4 Hauppauge goals come from midfielders- its about time. Bob Wood with two goals leads the midfielders. Bob White and Nick Bez tally single scores.

2003- Eagles Sink Thunderbirds
Game date: 10/7/03
It took the Eagles but 3:28 to tally the first goal of the game. As things unfolded over the next hour and a half, it was the only goal needed by Hauppauge.
Tom Moore was awarded a throw-in from the Eagle sideline on a very poor call by an official. Justin Flood volleyed the throw into the goal original ball OB was kicked out by Mike Berka or did the official see something that no one else saw.
At 33:05, Orange Lenzi was taken down by the Hills East keeper.
The refs got this one correct. The keeper got a yellow card and Hauppauge got a PK. Not understanding what was going on, Steve Mullady voiced his opinion long enough to merit a yellow card. Justin buried the PK. It was the second time Orange was taken down in the box and the second time Ruffini did not let him take the PK
With 44 seconds left in half one, Bob White scored his fifth goal of the season. Justin Flood and Tom Moore assisted on this goal.
Tom Moore had 3 assists in this game plus a yellow card.
Scott Mustapich get his third goal of the season- the first with his accurate left foot.
Justin Flood scored his third goal-a "Hat Trick"- late in the half.
Chris Kunzig finished the scoring for the Eagles.

2003- EAGLES DEFEAT SACHEM / THE PERFECT GAME
Game date 10/8/03
In a very imperfect world, the Eagles played a perfect soccer game against a very strong Sachem High soccer team.
When one asks how could this be, no logical answer can be given. Logic never played a role in this game. This game goes beyond comprehension. Everything that the Eagles tried worked; nothing that Sachem tried worked.
Hauppauge scored off a corner kick- the first of the year. Hauppauge scored from a throw-in-the first of the year. Tom Moore scored twice-his first of the year. A goal for Sachem was nullified-the first of the year. It all came together tonight.
Even at 5-0, Ruffini was waiting for Sachem to mount a comeback. I am shocked by this score. Never in my wildest dreams.
Game was played at Sachem under the lights.
Hauppauge is now a main target for all of Suffolk. Hauppauge has a high Long Island ranking(#1), a high New York State ranking(#3), and a rather high National ranking(#20). Do not be deceived by these numbers- only a high work ethic can keep us there(and some luck). But one never knows!!!

2004 Season Begins At Kings Park / Game 1
In its 2004 opening game, Hauppauge easily defeated Kings Park 5-0.
Hauppauge scored 4 goals in the first half and coasted the rest of the way.
Justin Flood led the Eagles with three goals, Paul Boucher and Mike Simonelli had the other tallies.
Scott Bishop, and Jon Flood, shared the shutoutfor Hauppauge. Bishop had 7 saves and Flood had 3 saves.
Both Paul Boucher and Justin Flood had 2 assists. Dan Corcoran and Alaa Rabaa had singles assists.
Paul Boucher had the Eagles first goal as he deflected a Justin Flood direct kick passed the Kings Park keeper.
A referee aided the Eagles third goal by calling an illegal throw-in against Kings Park-it was a nonsense call. As a result Hauppauge's Mike Simonelli took our throw in and sprinted directly to goal and scored.
Kings Park continues to play the offsides trap which is very close to Hauppauge's Goalie of the Future. If one wants to play with fire, one can get burned. Hauppauge uses its tactic as a last resort; Kings Park uses its trap as its primary defense. Different philosophies.

Hauppauge Defeats Smithtown / Game 2
In yet another close game between the Bulls of Smithtown and the Eagles of Hauppauge, Hauppauge pulled out a very close 2-1 victory.
The score was 0-0 at half time; however, the Eagles should have been ahead 1-0. With Justin Flood benched because of a "delay of game" yellow card, and injured center half Paul Boucher on the bench, Hauppauge was down to its third kicker when it was awarded a penalty shot after Orange Lenzi was pushed down in the Smithtown penalty area.
Nick Bez became the kicker for the Eagles. His shot is still looking for the proximity of the Smithtown net. He was #3; now he is #.........
In the second half Paul Boucher scored for the Eagles; he was assisted by the "unbenched" Justin Flood. Minutes later, John Pardini tied the score for the Bulls.
With 4 minutes and 10 seconds remaining in the game AC/DC Corcoran scored for Hauppauge on a 20 yard shot. The ACDC goal was unassisted.
Now things became interesting. Hauppauge was awarded a corner kick with 2 minutes to go. Hauppauge, smartly, took its time going after the ball.....the stall for time. Hauppauge, dumbly, took WAY too much time going after the ball, and were called for a second "delay" of game. Justin Flood took his ejection very well and was very happy to sit against John Glenn the following day.
Anyway, Hauppauge hung on to win 2-1. And the streak goes on and on and on and on....... What streak?
Mike Simonelli gets hit in the nose and ends up with a broken foot. Please explain?
Iamunno and Hickey injured.

Eagles Soar Over Glenn's Astronauts / Game 3
Paul Boucher scored the first goal of the game for the third game in a row. He was assisted by Orange Lenzi and Greg Genco.
John Glenn scored off an absolutely perfect corner kick play.
I doubt if they will score a more pretty goal all season. Kudos to John Glenn.
The second half begins with a score of 1-1.
After a 1-1 first half, Hauppauge scored two in the second half to beat Glenn 3-1. However, the second half was quite eventful. First, Paul Boucher lost a battle with the Glenn keeper and the ground. Paul was hurt enough to sit the last 35 minutes of the second half. No Flood and no Boucher up front. As Orange said "I gyess it up to me". It was and as usual Orange came through. Orange headed a Nick Bez cross into the back of the Glenn goal to give Hauppauge a 2-1 lead.
Then a strange combination of circumstances gave Hauppauge its third goal. Scott Bishop make a save(normal), kicked a punt 30 yards passed midfield(unusual), the ball bounced over the Glenn keeper's head(unusual), Sebastian Iamunno playing in his first game ran onto the ball(unusual), and beat the Glenn keeper to the ball(unusual), and scored(rare). Scott Bishop with the assist.

Bay Shore Defeats Eagles Game 4
Losing is not pleasant. Losing rots. However, losing can be a good thing, if one learns from losing. If one learns from losing, then losing can be a "winning" thing.
Hopefully the Hauppauge Eagles will remember this loss. "REMEMBER BAY SHORE"......Remember two years ago: "Remember Bay Shore". For those that were on that team two years ago: "Remember Bay Shore".
On the opening kickoff, Hauppauge hit the crossbar after John Lyons' shot deflected off the Bay Shore keeper's hands. Hauppauge had two corner kicks within the first 2 1/2 minutes. Hauppauge was dominating. However, within the next 2 minutes, Bay Shore scored twice when the Eagles misplayed two air balls within its penalty area.
Four minutes later, Kevin Stimphl scored off a corner kick; Orange and Spike 1 with the assists.
The next 72 minutes resulted in no further scoring.
The Eagles pulled its keeper with 8 minutes to go in the game and put tremendous pressure on Bay Shore. The game ended with the Bay Shore keeper catching a deflected shot. Bay Shore was lucky. Paul Boucher was the "Goalie of the Future" for the Eagles; Paul handled the situation well.
Simonelli injured.
Hauppauge 1 0 1

League IV Opener 2004 / Hills East
It started as an overcast afternoon and ended in the pouring rain. Or was the precipitation really Hauppauge crying?
The game started innocently enough. Greg Genco scored his first varsity goal and the Eagles first goal on assists from Danny Corcoran and Paul Boucher. Moments later Justin Flood converted a penalty shot after Danny Corcoran was taken down in the box. 2-0. The game should be over. Score the third and send everyone home. Give up the next goal and the momentum shifts. We had a shift in momentum. Not good.
Soon the score was 2-2 and the rains came with the HHHE goals.
This was not the way one should spend a half time after being up 2 zip.
Justin Flood had a tough game. He scored on a PK, hit two crossbars, had a goal disallowed, was pulled down twice in the box with no calls, his dead ball shot has landed in the Long Island Sound, and got physically brutalized with very few call going the Hauppauge way. Such is the game of soccer.
Strange game--- both Hills goals hit the upright and went in.These are not good omens.
Paul Boucher had a yellow card. Spike 2 had a brainlock with 34 seconds to go.Hauppauge guilty of too many rips, Hauppauge lost ALL the rugby scrums in front of the Hills goal.
Game called at the end of regulation because of too much rain- unsafe conditions. So be it.

BRUTAL LOSS FOR HAUPPAUGE / GAME 2 LEAGUE IV
This would be Hauppauge's secondworst defeat in 33 years. Only once in the last 33 has a Hauppauge team lost a game after having a two goals or more lead. The other game happened in the 1991 Suffolk County Final between Walt Whitman and Hauppauge...more on that contest later.
After an even first half that ended in a 0-0 tie, the Hauppauge Eagles dominated the next 35 minutes and fashioned theirway to a 2-0 lead. Both goals were scored by Orange Lenzi from his center midfield position. This was the first game played by Orange at this p[osition. It should be noted that he also headed a shot of the crossbar when thescore was 2-0.

The Eagles came home to roost. After being destoyed by the Copiague Eagles, the Hauppauge Eagles got a taste of victory by defeating Deer Park 6-0 in a League IV contest. Five of the 6 Hauppauge goals came in the first half.
In a span of 14 minutes and 28 seconds, Justin Flood recorded his second hat trick of the season. Justin scored his first at 8:59 and his third at 23:27. Greg Genco and John Lyons also scored for in the first half. Lyons shot was a direct kick from over 40 yards.
The final goal for Hauppauge was scored by Phil Caraciolo late in the second half.

COLTS KICK EAGLES League IV / Game 4
Hauppauge kicked off and the Colts scored 38 seconds into the game. From the Colts keeper, to their midfield,, to their forwards to our goal, and finally, in our goal.Great kickoff play. Ruffini designed it.
In essence, the game was over at the 38 second mark. Hauppauge could still be there and not have scored. The Eagles were frustrated by the Colts defense for the entire game. Some cousins were happy, some cousins were sad.
The Colts scored the final goal of the game with but two minutes left.
The Colts Coach was not a happy camper to the officials after the game. A HHHWEST player was given a RED CARD for using the "magical" immediate ejection word.
A team must play offense to win. Hauppauge will start to play offense shorty or go home without a playoff berth.
Hauppauge is sitting with a one win, one tie, 2 loss record...3 points after 4 games does not make for a State Championship Team.

With three points after 4 league games, the Hauppauge Eagles were not on a road to securing a playoff berth in the Suffolk County Soccer Playoffs. However, after their 2-0 victory over Bellport, the Eagle picture looks somewhat more rosy....somewhat.
After a 0-0 first half, Hauppauge scored 5 minutes into the second half. HOORAY FOR HAUPPAUGE. Justin Flood scored on an assist from Mike Simonelli. Flood scored his second goal of the game 15 minutes later. This time he was assisted by Dom Zicaro. Again, HOORAY FOR HAUPPAUGE.
Bellport started to squeeze the Eagles' necks by getting numerous corner kicks(2). However, SpikeI(aka Joe Janssen)headed away a sure Bellport shot. HOORAY for Spike I. Newsday credited Joe with a save in its daily sport section.
