2007 Season

The Rams began the new season playing in ACR scrimmages. TCR tied Newton-Conover and R J Reynolds. The team traveled to Henry River Soccer Park for 3 scrimmages, TCR lost to South Point, 1-2, tied East Mecklenburg 0-0, and lost to Mallard Creek 0-1. TCR  opened the regular season with 5-1 win against Brevard as part of the Moe's Challenge Cup. The Rams traveled to the Brittany Showcase in Wilson and defeated Rocky Mount 2-1 and Jacksonville 3-2. TCR beat Polk County 3-0 in the second round of the Moe's Challenge Cup. The Rams traveled to the Mellow Mushroom Tournament in Boone and lost 3-5 to Charlotte Catholic and 0-6 to Broughton. TCR lost to AC Reynolds 1-2 on the last Match day of the Moe's Challenge Cup and tied Fred T Foard 3-3. TCR opened MAC play with a 3-0 win over Franklin and a 7-1 win over North Buncombe. TCR lost to MAC rivals Asheville 1-2 and  beat Enka 3-0, TCR lost 0-3 to defending 3A State Champs Lake Norman on Saturday. TCR tied AC Reynolds 2-2 and lost to Erwin 1-2. TCR beat Tuscola 4-2 and beat Franklin 3-0. TCR beat North Buncombe 8-0 and beat Asheville 1-0 on Wednesday. The Rams beat Enka 3-0, tied Forestview 2-2 and lost to Watauga 0-2. TCR finishes the regular season with 2 important conference games at home, TCR won 4-1  against Erwin on Monday and beatTuscola 4-1 on Wednesday for Senior Night. TCR finishes the regular season 14-7-3 overall and 10-2-0 in the MAC Conference.

The Rams beat Hunter Huss 3-0 in the first round of the 3A State Playoffs on Wednesday October 31st at 7pm. TCR lost to RS Central 3-4 on Penalty Kicks in the second round of the 3A State Playoffs.

Rams Season Ends at RS Central
The Rams played RS Central in the second round of the state playoffs in a tough and physical game which was tied at the end of regulation, tied at the end of two ten minute OTs, went to golden goal, and finally to PKs.  RS Central won on PKs.
TCR was up 2-1 at the half on goals scored by Paul Egle (assisted by Ryan Smith and Johnny Pullen), and Robert May (assisted by Paul Egle).  Paul Egle scored in the OT assisted by John Mitchell.
Ryan Schmidt had 5 saves and Ronnie Hreha had 8 saves.
Congratulations to the Rams on a great season, and good luck to our departing seniors, Ryan Schmidt and Alex Brandt.

Players of the Game

1-BREVARD- Pablo Souza and John Mitchell each had 2 assists. Paul Egle, Michael O'Brien, and Eric Brandt scored their first varsity goals. Robert May and Robert Graeme also scored. Hagen Johnston, Ryan Smith, and John Dellamea played well in the back.

2-ROCKY MOUNT- John Mitchell and Nathan-Canniff Kuhn scored on assists by Paul Egle and Hagen Johnston as the Rams battled back from 0-1. Robert May was selected the Sportsmanship winner.

3-JACKSONVILLE- For the third game in a row TCR fell behind, this time 0-2. None of the players gave up and behind 2 goals by Paul Egle and 1 goal and 1 assist by John Mitchell the Rams prevailed over powerhouse Jacksonville 3-2.

4-POLK COUNTY- Robert May scored 2 goals. Pablo Souza and Paul Egle had assists. TCR was awarded an own goal in the 3-0 win. The defense led by Goalkeepers Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha had their first shutout of the season.

5-CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC- John Mitchell scored 1 goal and added 1 assist. Paul Egle and Nathan Canniff-Kuhn scored goals. Pablo Souza had 1 assist.

6-BROUGHTON- TCR played well in the first half, but the Defending 4A State Champs were too much in the second. Robert May was selected to the All-Tournament Team. 

7-AC REYNOLDS- The Rams played well, but lost a tough game to ACR 1-2, Paul Egle scored on an assist from John Mitchell.

8-FRED T FOARD- Paul Egle had 1 goal and 1 assist, John Mitchell and Pablo Souza scored goals. Fabian Rameriz and Hagen Johnston added assists. The defense responded well after giving up 2 early goals and the team fought back to tie 3-3.

9-FRANKLIN- Robert May had 1 goal and 1 assist. John Mitchell and Robert Graeme each scored. Pablo Souza added an assist. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout to open MAC play.

10-NORTH BUNCOMBE- Eric Brandt scored 3 goals. Pablo Souza had 1 goal and 2 assists. Robert May had 1 goal and 1 assist. Patrick Perkins and Ryan Lacerna added goals. Paul Egle had 2 assists and Patrick Brooks and Hagen Johnston added 1 assist each.

11-ASHEVILLE- John Mitchell scored the lone goal. Walker Rackley and Nathan Canniff-Kuhn played well in the back. 

12-ENKA- John Mitchell, John Pullen, and Fabian Ramirez scored goals. Robert Graeme, Hagen Johnston, and Paul Egle added assist. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout.

13-LAKE NORMAN- Walker Rackley had a very good game marking one of the best forwards in the state. 

14-AC REYNOLDS- The entire team played great in this exciting contest. Paul Egle and John Mitchell scored and Pablo Souza added an assist.

15- ERWIN- Walker Rackley scored on an assist from Nathan Canniff-Kuhn. 

16- TUSCOLA- John Mitchell and Paul Egle scored 1 goal and added 1 assist each. Nathan Canniff-Kuhn and John Dellamea scored goals.

17- FRANKLIN- Robert May scored 3 goals with assists from John Mitchell, Fabian Rameriz, and Hagen Johnston. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout.

18- NORTH BUNCOMBE- Pablo Souza and Fabian Ramirez scored 2 goals each. Robert May scored once and had 2 assists. Paul Egle had 1 goal and 1 assist. Nathan Canniff-Kuhn and Robert Graeme scored 1 goal each. Walker Rackley added 2 assists and Griffin Lennox had 1 assist. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout.

19- ASHEVILLE- The entire team deserves mention for this hard fought win. Robert May scored on an assist from John Mitchell. Pablo Souza battled through a neck injury to completely control the midfield along with Paul Egle. Robert Graeme and Fabian Ramirez came off the bench and gave great effort. Outside Mids- Eric Brandt,  Michael O'Brien, John Pullen, and Ryan Smith work tirelessly all night up and down the wing. The back four of Nathan Caniff-Kuhn, Walker Rackley, Hagen Johnston, and John Dellamea were outstanding against a speedy and skillful attack. Goalies Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for six saves and the shutout. Alex Brandt came on late to help preserve the win. Total Team Effort and goes to show hard work really does pay off.

20- ENKA- Robert May, Paul Egle, and Pablo Souza scored goals. John Mitchell and Eric Brandt added assists. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout.

21- FORESTVIEW- Walker Rackley and Pablo Souza scored off assists by John Mitchell and John Dellamea.

22- WATAUGA- The whole team played hard, but up short against an always tough Watauga team.

23- ERWIN- Robert Graeme and John Mitchell each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Pablo Souza added 2 assists. Robert May and Michael O'Brien added 1 goal each.

24- TUSCOLA- Seniors Ryan Schmidt and Alex Brandt led the way to victory over Tuscola 4-1. Ryan assisted on one of the 2 goals scored by Robert May. Pablo Souza had 2 goals. Ryan Smith added 2 assists and Michael O'Brien had 1 assist.

25- HUNTER HUSS- John Mitchell scored 2 goals. Paul Egle had a goal and an assist. Pablo Souza added 1 assist. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout.

26- RS CENTRAL- Paul Egle had 2 goals and 1 assist. Robert May had 1 goal. John Mitchell, John Pullen, and  Ryan Smith added assists.
