2006 Season
TCR opened the 2006 season winning all 3 of their scrimmages in the Mountain Jamboree. The Rams continued preparation for the regular season playing 3 more scrimmages. TCR defeated St. Stephens, but came up short in the other 2 scrimmages against 4A powers North Meck and East Forsyth. The Rams beat Brevard 3-1. TCR lost to South Mecklenburg 1-2 and beat Charlotte Latin 2-1 in the Frank Ponce Shootout. The Rams beat Polk County 1-0.TCR defeated East Henderson 4-0. The Rams traveled to Boone to play in the Mellow Mushroom Tourney and TCR beat New Hanover 3-1 and Broughton 2-1. TCR beat Franklin 6-0 to open up MAC play. TCR beat North Buncombe 8-1. The Rams beat cross town rival Asheville 2-1 in OT. The Rams beat Enka 4-0 Hickory 2-1. TCR lost to AC Reynolds 2-3 and beat Erwin 6-2.TCR beat Tuscola 6-0. The Rams beat Franklin 2-1 and Watauga 4-0. The Rams beat North Buncombe 5-2 and tied cross town rival Asheville 1-1. TCR beat Enka 6-0. TCR will travel to AC Reynolds to play in the ACR Mountain Shootout. The Rams beat Forestview 1-0 and Central Cabarrus 2-0. TCR finished up the regular season with a 5-0 win at Erwin and a 8-0 win at Tuscola. The Rams finished the regular season as MAC Champions with a record 11-0-1 in conference and 21-2-1 overall. TCR beat MAC foe Franklin 5-0 in the First Round of the 3A State Playoffs on Wednesday Nov 1st at 7pm. TCR beat Fred T Foard 4-1 in a Second Round Game on Saturday Nov. 4th at 7pm. The Rams beat Forestview 5-1 in the Third Round on Wednesday Nov 8th at 7pm. TCR beat RS Central 4-0 in the 3A Quarter-Finals on Saturday Nov 11th at 7pm. TCR lost to Lake Norman 1-4 in the 3A Semi-Finals on Wednesday Nov 15th. TCR finishes the 2006 Season 25-3-1. 2006 Players of the Game 1- BREVARD- Robert Franklin and Robert May, each tallied a goal and an assist. Walker Smith scored a wicked goal moving up from the back. Taylor Allen had an assist. Gabe McGowen was outstanding in the back. 2- SOUTH MECK- Humberto Garcia scored his first career goal off an assist from John Dellamea to the tie the game early in the second half. TCR played much better in the second half, but coul not prevent a late goal by the Sabres. 3- CHARLOTTE LATIN- After a slow start and following behind, Taylor Allen scored off an assist from John Mitchell to tie the game. Taylor added an assist to Pablo Souza for the game winner. John Dellamea really stepped up his play in the second half to the the Rams pull out the win. 4- POLK COUNTY- With several of the Rams nursing injuries, TCR was still able to pull out 1-0 win thanks in great deal to the play of Taylor Allen who scored the lone goal and did an excellent job in the back. Logan Myrick recorded the assist. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the first shutout of the season. 5- EAST HENDERSON- Robert Franklin had 2 goals and Humberto Garcia added 2 assists to lead the Rams to 4-0 win. Taylor Allen and Logan Myrick scored goals and Omar Alegria had 1 assist. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout. 6- NEW HANOVER- Robert Franklin had 2 goals and Taylor Allen had 1 goal and 1 assist. John Dellamea added 1 assist. The defense led by Dylan Stutzman, Gabe McGowen, and Walker Smith played great. 7- BROUGHTON- Robert May had 1 goal and 1 assist. Robert Franklin had 1 goal and John Mitchell had 1 assist to lead the Rams to the Mellow Mushroom Tournament Title. Robert Franklin was named MVP, Robert May, Pablo Souza, Taylor Allen, and John Dellamea were named to the All-Tournament Team. 8- FRANKLIN- Humberto Garcia had 2 goals. Robert Franklin had 1 goal and 2 assists. Jason May and Logan Myrick each added 1 goal and 1 assist. Robert May scored 1 goal and Taylor Allen and Gabe McGowen added 1 assist. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout. 9- NORTH BUNCOMBE- Robert Franklin scored 2 goals and added 1 assist. Robert May chipped in 2 goals. John Mitchell had 1 goal and 3 assists. Patrick Brooks had 1 goal and 1 assist. John Dellamea and Scott Cauthen added 1 goal each and Omar Algeria had an assist. 10- ASHEVILLE- Robert Franklin scored 1 goal and had 1 assist. Pablo Souza scored the game winner in OT. Taylor Allen had 1 assist. The entire team played outstanding in this hard fought win. 11- ENKA- Robert May had 1 goal and 1 assist. Robert Franklin, Patrick Brooks, and Omar Alegria scored goals. Taylor Allen and Walker Rackley added assists. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout. 12- HICKORY- Robert Franklin and Robert May scored goals. Taylor Allen and Pablo Souza added assists. The defense led by Dylan Stutzman, Walker Smith, Gabe McGowen, and John Delamea were outstanding in the defeating the #2 ranked Hickory. 13- AC REYNOLDS- John Mitchell scored off a throw-in by Richie Pryately and Robert Franklin scored on an assist from Humberto Garcia. The Rams all showed great heart and determination, but came up on the short end against a very good AC Reynolds team. Gabe McGowen, Walker Smith, and John Dellamea did a solid job slowing down some very strong forwards. 14- ERWIN- Richie Pryately scored 2 goals off 2 assists by John Mitchell to lead the Rams to a 6-2 victory over a much improved Erwin team. Robert Franklin added 1 goal and 1 assist. Humberto Garcia, Pablo Souza, and Dylan Stutzman also scored goals. 15- TUSCOLA- John Mitchell scored 2 goals. Robert Franklin scored 1 goal and added 2 assists. Richie Pryately, Jason May, and Hagen Johnston also scored. Taylor Allen, Robert May, and Scott Cauthen added assists. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout. 16- FRANKLIN- TCR survives a scare against Franklin on goals scored by Robert Franklin and Robert May. Taylor Allen added 1 assist. 17- WATAUGA- Robert May had 2 goals and John Mitchell had 2 assists. Humberto Garcia and Dylan Stutzman added goals. Taylor Allen had an assist. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout on 5 saves. 18- NORTH BUNCOMBE- Robert Franklin had 3 goals and 1 assist. Taylor Allen had 2 assists. Richie Pryately and Robert May added goals and John Mitchell had 1 assist. 19- ASHEVILLE- Taylor Allen scored a great goal from 30 yards out and the entire team played their hearts out in a weather shortened tie against Asheville. 20- ENKA- Humberto Garcia had 2 goals and 1 assist. Pablo Souza scored twice and Richie Pryately added 2 assists. Taylor Allen and Robert May scored goals. Robert Franklin and Hagen Johnston added assists. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout on Senior Night. 21- FORESTVIEW- Robert Franklin scored on an assist from Richie Pryately. Ryan Schmidt made 5 saves and Ronnie Hreha made 8 saves as the Rams held on for a 1-0 win over 3A powerhouse Forestview. 22- CENTRAL CABARRUS- Robert Franklin scored and was named MVP as TCR won the ACR Mountain Shootout. John Mitchell score, also, off an assist by Richie Pryately. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout. Robert May, John Dellamea, and Dylan Stutzman were named to the All-Tournament Team. 23- ERWIN- Taylor Allen scored twice and Richie Pryately had 3 assists. Humberto Garcia, John Mitchell, and Robert Graeme added goals. Robert Franklin and Robert May added assists. Ryan Schmidt made 1 save and Ronnie Hreha made 3 saves. 24- TUSCOLA- Robert Franklin had 4 goals and Jason May added 2 goals. Richie Pryately and Scott Cauthen had 2 assists each. Humberto Garcia and Walker Smith added goals. John Mitchell and Taylor Allen had assists. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt had 3 saves each. 25- FRANKLIN- Robert Franklin scored 2 goals. Robert May, Taylor Allen, and Gabe McGowen all scored 1 goal each. Richie Pryately,Humberto Garcia, John Dellamea, John Mitchell, and Dylan Stutzman added assists. Ryan Schmidt and Ronnie Hreha combined for the shutout. 26- FRED T FOARD- Robert Franklin scored 3 goals. Pablo Souza scored 1 goal. Ronnie Hreha, Richie Pryately, and Humberto Garcia added assists. 27- FORESTVIEW- Robert Franklin scored 2 goals and added 2 assists. Taylor Allen had 2 goals. Robert May had 1 goal. Pablo Souza, John Mitchell, Richie Pryately, and John Dellamea added assists. The defense led by Dylan Stutzman, Walker Smith, Gabe McGowen, John Dellamea, and Richie Pryately was superb. 28- RS CENTRAL- Robert Franklin scored 2 goals and had 2 assists. Richie Pryately had 1 goal and 1 assist. Taylor Allen scored 1 goal and John Mitchell added 1 assist. Ronnie Hreha and Ryan Schmidt combined for the shutout. 29- LAKE NORMAN- Robert Franklin scored our only goal in the semi-final loss. I could not be prouder of a team. Every single player made difference this season. Best of luck to all the players, especially the seniors- Robert, Taylor, Richie, Gabe, Jason, Humberto, Logan, and Omar.
A remarkable season for the TCR Men's Soccer team came to an end at the hands of undefeated Lake Norman on Thursday night. There was a great turnout for the game, and the formidable opponent converted on 4 of their 19 shots while the Rams scored on 1 of their 19 shots, a quick free kick by Robert Franklin. Ryan Schmidt had 2 saves, and Ronnie Hreha had 5 saves. Congratulations to the team and coaches on a wonderful season, and thanks to all of the fans, friends and families for your outstanding support.
