NEW HANOVER- TCR came out of the gates quickly taking a 1-0 lead in the first 5 minutes on an Eric Brandt goal assisted by Ryan Lacerna, then fell behind 1-2. Forrest Polk then rallied the Rams with an assist to Paul Egle and a goal, assisted by Jonathan Stillman. New Hanover scored the tying goal in the 10 seconds. The team played hard in the heat against the defending 4A state runner-up. HENDERSONVILLE- Eric Brandt scored 3 goals and added 1 assist. Paul Egle scored 2 goals and had 2 assists. Robert Graeme had 1 assist. Ryan Jensen made 6 saves and unfortunately got injured(we all wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery)Steven Corley and Brian Turk each made 1 save. TUSCOLA- The Rams played some great soccer, but a very determined Tuscola team made things very difficult. TCR came out on top 2-1 with Trey Hemphill scoring on an assist by Paul Egle. Robert Graeme scored the second goal in spectacular fashion unassisted. Brian Turk made 6 saves in his first full game in goal. LAKE NORMAN- TCR bolted out to a 3-0 lead only to see Lake Norman come back to tie the game up. The Rams did not wilt under the pressure and Jonathan Stillman scored his first career goal for the game winner. Trey Hemphill had 2 goals. Paul Egle had 1 goal and dished out 2 assists. Eric Brandt and Robert Graeme had 1 assist. Steven Corley made 6 saves. RONALD REAGAN- Paul Egle and Trey Hemphill combined on 2 goals with Paul scoring and Trey assisting. TCR's other goal was an own goal set up by a great cross into the box by Max Lewis. Steven Corley made 8 saves and Brian Turk made 3 saves. FRED T FOARD- Paul Egle and Eric Brandt scored 2 goals each. Paul added 2 assists and Trey Hemphill had 1 assist. Brian Turk recorded his first career shutout on 4 saves and Steven Corley had 2 saves. CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC- The played poorly in the first game in the Boone Tourney getting totally outplayed by a very strong Charlotte Catholic team. Paul Egle scored the lone goal. MOUNT TABOR- TCR came to life on the second day of the Boone Tourney beating Mt Tabor 4-1. Eric Brandt scored 3 goals and August Deloach scored 1 goal. Robert Graeme had 3 assists and Paul Egle had 2 assists. Steven Corley made 5 saves allowing 1 goal and Brian Turk made 3 saves. MCDOWELL- Eric Brandt got things started with a goal off an assist from Paul Egle. Eric, then set up Thomas Covington for the Rams second goal. Paul Egle finished off the Titans with 2 second half goals. One unassisted on a free-kick and the second on an assist from Drew Cook. Brian Turk recorded the shutout on 4 saves and Steven Corley made 3 saves. CARDINAL GIBBONS- The Rams battle the highly ranked Cardinal Gibbons in a downpour, coming out on top. Paul Egle scored with 1.5 seconds remaining in the first half off a quick counter-attack led by Eric Brandt, who found Trey Hemphill, who laid the ball off to Paul for the goal. The Rams scored again in the second half on a beautiful through ball from Eric to Trey. Cardinal Gibbons got on the board late in the game. Brian Turk made 4 saves and Kyle Wilkens made 1 save. NORTH BUNCOMBE- Eric Brandt scored 3 goals. Trey Hemphill scored 1 goal and added 1 assist. Ryan Smith scored his first goal of the season. Paul Egle had 2 assists, Robert Graeme and Parker Holland added assists. Brian Turk had 5 saves and Steven Corley made 3 saves. ERWIN- TCR rolled to an 8-0 victory. Paul Egle scored 3 goals. Eric Brandt scored 2 goals and added 1 assist. Jonathan Stillman scored 2 goals. Robert Graeme had 1 goal. Trey Hemphill had 2 assists. Ryan Lacerna, Ryan Smith, Forrest Polk, Karl Young, and August Deloach added assists. Steven Corley played most of the game in goal to pick up the shutout on 4 saves. Brian Turk had 4 saves. ASHEVILLE- Total team effort was rule of the day in this big win over Asheville 5-1. Paul Egle scored 3 goals. Eric Brandt had 1 goal and 2 assists. Robert Graeme had 1 goal and 1 assist. Trey Hemphill had 2 assists. The offense was great, but the real kudos have to go to the defense. Karl Young was the man shutting down Asheville's best player. Ryan Lacerna and Michael O'Brien defended the wings and got into the attack. Robert and Griffin Lennox held down the midfield. Ryan Smith and Parker Holland were great in the back as well. Brian Turk made 6 saves several very difficult. Steven Corley made 1 save. Great game guys. AC REYNOLDS- The Rams fell behind twice, but showed lots of heart in coming back to defeat ACR 3-2. TCR scored off a throw-in, when a Rocket defender inadvertately headed the ball into their own goal to tie the game at 1-1. Ryan Smith connected with Trey Hemphill on a long throw to tie the game at 2-2. Paul Egle scored the game winner. The entire team played great in this hard fought game. Brian Turk made 7 saves. ENKA- Trey Hemphill scored 2 goals and added 1 assist. Michael O'Brien and Paul Egle each scored 1 goal and had 1 assist. Griffin Lennox had 1 goal. Robert Graeme and Ryan Smith added assists. Brian Turk made 6 saves. MCDOWELL- TCR dominated from start to finish, winning 9-0. Eric Brandt scored 2 goals and added 1 assist. Robert Graeme scored 1 goal and had 3 assists. Paul Egle scored 1 goal and had 2 assists. Trey Hemphill, Griffin Lennox, Karl Young, August Deloach, and Adam Stashick, all scored goals. Forrest Polk had 1 assist. Brian Turk made 2 saves and Steven Corley made 1 save. NORTH BUNCOMBE- Eric Brandt scored 3 goals and added 1 assist. Paul Egle scored 1 goal. Michael O'Brien and Trey Hemphill had assists. Steven Corley made 9 saves. ERWIN- Robert Graeme and Paul Egle each scored 2 goals and had 1 assist. August Deloach had 2 goals. Michael O'Brien and Forrest Polk had 1 goal and 1 assist. Trey Hemphill scored 1 goal. Thomas Covington had 2 assists. Griffin Lennox and John Leloudis added assists. Brian Turk recorded the shutout on 2 saves and Steven Corley had 1 save. ASHEVILLE- After following behind 1-0, the Rams exploded for 4 goals to win 4-1. Paul Egle scored 3 goals and Trey Hemphill had 1 goal. Michael O'Brien had 2 assists. Ryan Lacerna and Ryan Smith added assists. Brian Turk was outstanding in goal making 3 saves. Once again Karl Young was up to the task of marking last years Player of the year. Griffin Lennox had a great game controlling the middle of the field along with Jon Stillman and Forrest Polk. AC REYNOLDS- TCR clinched the MAC 4A/3A Conference Championship with a 4-2 win over ACR. Paul Egle scored 2 goals. Eric Brandt and Jonathan Stillman scored 1 goal and added 1 assist each. Trey Hemphill and Ryan Smith had assists. Brian Turk made 5 saves. ENKA- Griffin Lennox scored off an assist from Trey Hemphill as the Rams did not play their best game. Brian Turk recorded the shutout on 3 saves. MALLARD CREEK- Trey Hemphill scored the lone goal on an assist from Paul Egle after a long throw-in by Ryan Smith to help the Rams defeated a tough Mallard Creek team in the First Round of the 4A State Playoffs. Brian Turk was outstanding in goal making 13 saves for the shutout. GARINGER- TCR exploded for 7 first half goals. Eric Brandt had 3 goals. Trey Hemphill had 2 goals and 1 assist. Paul Egle had 1 goal and 5 assists. Drew Cook scored 1 goal and Forrest Polk had 1 assist. Brian Turk, Steven Corley, and Kyle Wilken had 1 save each. NORTH MECKLENBURG- Eric Brandt and Paul Egle scored goals on 2 assists by Ryan Lacerna. The defense was outstanding led by Brian Turk's 10 saves. Karl Young and Ryan Smith did great marking the forwards. Michael O'Brien and Ryan Lacerna held down the flanks and Parker Holland was a wall at sweeper. AC REYNOLDS- Trey Hemphill scored 2 goals. The second coming in sudden death overtime as the Rams defeated AC Reynolds in a game that can called "an instant classic". Griffin Lennox had a goal and an assist. Ryan Lacerna and Jonathan Stillman had assists. The defense was terrific in this 104 minute battle. Brian Turk made 8 saves. PAGE- TCR could not find the back of the net against a very strong Page team. Brian Turk kept the Rams in the game with 12 saves. The defense, led by Karl Young played great holding down the Pirates 1-0 until the last minutes. All of the players never gave up as the Rams struggled offensively, but still created a few goal scoring opportunities. Great Season boys!!! |
