Profile: 2008 RHAM grad who co-captained team (with T-C teammate Blaise Lampugnale) to return to winning ways and into Class L tournament after one-year absence ... Capped stellar season by being named to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association All-State first team, the Northwest Conference first team and by being selected to represent District IV in the CHSCA Senior All-Star game in June ... Finished with 7-3 record and 1.56 ERA in Connecticut games, with 77 strikeouts and just 19 walks in 63 innings ... Was winning pitcher in state tournament victory over Lyman Hall-Wallingford, striking out 10 and also homering in the 7-3 win ... Other highlights of season included 3-0 shutout of Northwest Catholic, two-hit/nine-strikeout performance in 3-1 win over Farmington and three-hit/13-strikeout effort in 6-1 win over Rocky Hill ... Had a stellar summer with Tri-County Legion in 2007, earning the start on the mound for the team's state-tournament qualifier ... Finished with three wins in nine appearances (eight starts) on the mound and 2.03 ERA ... Had 56 strikeouts in 48+ IP and second on the team with three complete games ... Also hit .264 in 33 games, with seven doubles and 11 RBI and was nominated for Legion Futures Game ... Was 6-1 with one save and a 0.95 ERA for 2007 T-C Fall Legion wood-bat team that went 16-7, finishing with two shutouts and a team-best 12.7 K/7 IP ratio … Also led that team in hits (23), extra-base hits (7), RBI (12) and slugging (.523) ... As junior at RHAM, got time on the mound, at first and at third while hitting most of the season out of the No. 3 spot in the order ... Finished with .291 average with 16 RBI, while eight of his 19 hits were for extra bases ... Tied for team lead with four victories on the mound for the 2006 Fall Legion wood-bat team, which he also led in ERA (1.33) and batting average against (.101) ... Also hit .306 with a team-leading six extra-base hits for that team ... Long-time member of Tri-County All-Star, Jaycee Courant and Fall teams ... Grandfather, Frank Bennettieri, was minor-league instructor and bird-dog scout for the Boston Red Sox ... Plans on attending and playing at Western New England in Springfield (along with T-C teammate Joe Bender and former T-C player and Zone 7 All-Star Liam Shea) in the fall … From Hebron.
