Tallahassee Heat 12U

The 12U Tallahassee Heat team is a new addition to the TCBC family.  The team, made up of talented and driven local players, has already proven itself as a "Select" travel team.  The Heat won its first two tournaments of the fall season and finished third in the USSSA Florida State Championships in Kissimmee in early November '07.

One of the main goals that founders and coaches Scott Dungey and David Elsbernd had for this team, was to take them to the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament in Cooperstown, New York, in the summer of 2008.  Although the registration form and deposit were submitted long ago, they knew that the team's chances, without a "grandfather certificate" were slim.  Fortunately, in early October, they received official confirmation from Cooperstown Drams Park that the Tallahassee Heat was accepted and placed in a week.  From now until August, the players will be working very hard to get ready and to raise money for the big event.

After taking a short break, the team plans to start practicing in mid-December to get ready for their first tournament of 2008 - the St. Pete Hurricanes Classic, January 12-13th.  Since the local rec-league season starts up in February, the Heat will try to play in only a few spring tournaments, to avoid any conflicts with league.  After the league season, the Heat will start scheduling summer practices and tournaments that will get them in top competitive form before heading to Cooperstown Dreams Park, August 8, 2008.

Heat 12s Win First Tournament of 2008

After a short winter break, the Heat 12s travelled to Pace, Florida for their first tournament of the 2008 spring season.  The USSSA tournament, sponsored by Allstar Productions (ASP), hosted 12 competitive teams (3 from Tallahassee).  The team played well throughout the weekend, but really showed their spirit and heart in a tough, come-back victory over the Tallahassee Slam, 5-4 in the semi-finals.  Unfortunately, due to strong thunderstorms moving into the area, the championship game was cancelled.  The Heat finished 3-0 for the tournament and tied with Hardcore Baseball (2-0) for 1st place.
