Comets Eliminated from NJ State Cup Tournament
The Comets suffered a disappointing loss to the Parsippany Storm, who the Comets defeated in last year’s state cup tournament, to be eliminated from this year’s NJ State Cup National Championship series. In this fourth match up between these two teams over the past year, the Storm were on a mission for a first victory, and they started the match in an attacking mode that set the pace for the first half of play. Despite strong pressure by the Storm, the Comets held them scoreless in the first half of the match and had a number of shots on the Storm’s goal. The second half was more evenly matched, but the Storm managed to capitalize on a couple of opportunities, and the Comets couldn’t seem to penetrate the Storm’s defense resulting in a 0-2 loss.
