COMETS WIN VOORHEES TOURNAMENT
Saturday brought a win 6-0 for the Comets against a very nice Marlton team, and a tie 1-1 against the Lionsville Destruction. On Sunday, the Comets first opponent was the Moorestown Mischief and the Comets ended the game with another disappointing tie, 2-2. The girls came out for the second game refreshed and beat the Battle of Monmouth 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals.
On Monday, the girls came ready to do battle against their sjgsl rival, the Voorhees Wildcats. The game was a battle from beginning to end and the Comets came out on top 1-0. The girls were able to mount another terrific defensive stance against the Reading Berks Lightning and win the championship 1-0. Way to go Comets!
OLYMPIC CONFERENCE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!
The Comets clinched the title of SJGSL Olympic Conference Co-Champions,along with the Haddonfield Hurricanes, by defeating the Hibernian Heat 3-0. After a nervous fist half, the girls settled down and played their game, accomplishing the task they set out to do from March. Great job, Comets!!!!!
Congratulations to our friends in Haddonfield on their title also. It was a fantastic season with your team by our side and we wish you many successes.

This game will be played on Sunday, Sept.23,2001 at 3:30pm at Shawnee high school.
COMETS DEFEAT MEDFORD STRIKERS XTREME
Our Comets came to play today! The girls dominated play in the first half, with some offensive chances that were shot wide, hit a crossbar or shot over the net. With 43 seconds left in the half, our girls put a short, sharp shot into the back of their net. The Comets again played great in the second half, with quite a few chances that they just couldn't convert. On a corner kick, with 10 minutes left in the game, they were able to redirect one into the X-Treme's net again. This game now gives the Comets 1 win, 1 tie, and 1 loss, putting them right back in the thick of things in the very competitive olympic division.
COMETS DEFEAT MIDDLETOWN TO ADVANCE IN STATE CUP
The Comets played a well disciplined game against the Middletown Avalanche, in round 1 of the N.J. State Cup. The Comets took a 3-0 lead in the first half and extended that lead to 6-0 in the second half. The Avalanche tallied a goal, showing that they were here to play soccer also. Both teams played well and should be commended on their sportsmanship. The Comets want to thank the Avalanche for a nice game and wish them well in the rest of their regular season.

COMETS PERFORM WELL IN WALL
The girls came out strong against the Bergen Blackhawks. The sole goal of the game came on a rush of the Bergen goalie, and the ball popped out and the Comets were able to capitalize. Both teams played a great game, but the comets prevailed with tough defense and the game ended 1-0.
The second game was a hard fought game with the Comets again prevailing with a 1-0 shut-out. The sole goal was a direct kick awarded on a foul outside the 18.
The final game on Sunday, was to see who would compete in the championship game. The Comets didn't bring their "A" game and Centennial Connexion was able to score a goal in each half, in a well played game, if not the Comets best game! Centennial went on to win the final against Wycoff Torpedoes. Great weekend of soccer, girls!
COMETS LOSE TOUGH ONE TO VOORHEES
A closely-contested game by both teams left the Comets a goal short. The Wildcats scored a goal in the first half. The Comets missed an opportunity at the end of the half to tie it up, on a nice head ball that had the goalie beat, but another player was able to just sweep in behind the goalie to save it. The second half was played well by the Comets, with several quality chances to score, but to no avail. Not all games can be wins, girls, but you're playing great soccer!

COMETS VS HADDONFIELD 1-1 TIE
Comets again play FAN-tastic soccer for 60 minutes. The first half ended with the Comets ahead 1-0 and utililizing a very controlled passing game. The second half had a few chances for both teams, but both defenses were solid. With 1:43 left in the game,Haddonfield was given a direct kick at the 18 yd. mark, and capitalized. The game ended in a disappointing tie,but the Comets were not disappointed in their efforts. A proud Comet team left that field and hopes to carry that intensity into next weeks' games.

TBAA COMETS' JEFF CUP RECAP
The Comets played their first game against a good SWYA Wildcats' team. The Comets came out flat and never really recovered. An uncleared corner kick was accidentally deflected by a Comet into the net,the only goal scored by SWYA and the Comets lost 1-0.
The Comets second game against the very good Beadling Blast, a select western Pa. team, was not any better. After getting down a few goals quickly, the Comets lost a player to an injury, and things unraveled.
The Beadling Blast went on to win the Elite Championship against Princeton.
The final game showed that the Comets might be down, but they were not out. They played a very nice Centennial Connexion (NJ competitor) and won 2-0. Best wishes to Centennial Connexion player injured at end of game.
Thanks to all teams for the wonderful competition and great sportsmanship.
WIN !
The Comets started their season off on a good note with a victory over the Voorhees Wildcats. Getting a win in the very prestigious Olympic division is always a very hard fought, yet obtainable objective. This Saturday, they reached their goal. The Comets utilized a very controlled passing game to emerge with a 1-0 win. Backed by a fantastic defense, the Comets were able to keep the Wildcats out of the back of their net. Great game, girls!
COMETS VS. HURRICANES
The Comets defeated the Haddonfield Hurricanes this Saturday 2-0. The game was a well played game by both teams. Thanks to the Haddonfield Hurricanes, a great group of girls, for their wonderful sportsmanship and a FANtastic match to watch. Go Comets !!
COMEBACK WIN !
The Comets fell behind for the first time this season. After a tied-up half at 0-0, the Mischief were able to capitalize on an uncleared ball on the Comets' 18. Now behind, the Comets went to work quickly! They scored two goals in 4 minutes and added a third with about 6 minutes left in the game. It was a thriller!
Our next game is a very big game against our olympic rivals, the Haddonfield Hurricanes, on Saturday, April 27th at 2:00pm on field #1. Go Comets!!!!

COMETS 3 RENEGADES 0
The Comets played another fantastic game to give our goalie her 3rd shutout. After the 1st half tied up at 0-0, the Comets came out on fire and tallied 3 goals. Great teamwork and passing created many opportunities. Keep up the hard work, girls. You look great!
PASTA PARTY FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH
The Comets' Pasta Party will be held on Friday, April, 26, 2002 immediately following practice, at the Allizzo's. Let Coach Joe know if you'll be there. Bring a hungry appetite for pasta and the Hurricanes! Go Comets!
Comets 1 Wildcats 1
The Comets tied the Voorhees Wildcats 1-1 on Staurday. After a 0-0 half, the Comets scored first on a kick awarded for a foul. The Wildcats then capitalized on a corner kick. The Comets had numerous chances to score but the ball was shot wide or over the net. Let's play a more controlled game next week, girls.
COMETS POST THEIR FIRST LOSS THIS SEASON
The Comets lost to the Haddonfield Hurricanes 2-0. This game was played with intensity, sportsmanship and hard work by both teams. It is only fitting that the Hurricanes won 2-0, since the Comets won 2-0 the first go around. Since they didn't tie this season (as in past 6 outings), they now have found a way, they are now tied for first place in the olympic division. Both teams have 2 regular season games and a make-up game or two.
Good luck to two fantastic teams. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Comets!!!!!!!
COMETS 4 HIBOS 0
The Comets come up big against the Hibernian Heat, scoring 4 goals and giving them their fouth shut-out of the season. Keep up the good work in the next 3 games.
COMETS ARE A "HEAD" ABOVE THE MISCHIEF
The Comets scored first in the first half. The half ended a very close 1-0. With the second half came the second goal, a header into the net, earning the Comets a victory, a shut-out and a promised trip to Friendlies from Soc. Way to work hard girls!
Comets Beat Renegades
With a 4-1 win over the Renegades, the Comets move one step closer to the prestigious Olympic Conference Championship. Our SJGSL Olympic Conference rivals, the Haddonfield Hurricanes have clinched at least a share of the title. The Comets need a win in their last regular season game to share the title.

COMETS PLAY TOUGH AT EAST BRUNSWICK
Their first game proved to be a very exciting game. The Trumbull Express scored first on a corner kick about 10 minutes into the game. This game was a hard fought defensive battle by both teams and the half ended 1-0. The second half started off as a battle and ended with both teams getting a few chances to capitalize, but both were unable to break each other's stellar defenses. Both goalies had to make some spectacular saves. Unfortunately, this is not how the Comets would have liked it to end but playing such a great game with the C.T. state champs was a victory.
The second game, PDA Power proved to be on top of their game and the Comets fell short. PDA won the game 3-0, with our Comets not competing as well as we know they can. Congrats to the Power on winning the u-12g bracket!
The last game of the weekend against Freehold, saw the Comets get back their intensity of the Trumbull game, and attack offensively. The Comets scored 5 goals (by 4 different players),proving that their passing game was once again alive and well. The Comets' stellar defense once again stood tall, this time getting a shut-out!
Without getting all the results we would have hoped, the Comets played a great weekend of soccer against some of the best teams in our area. They played in an extremely tough bracket, with the eventual champs, and made their families extremely proud!
COMETS VS. HURRICANES
This game proved to be as exciting as anticipated. The Comets started the first half sluggishly and allowed a goal on a long outside shot. After this wake-up call, the Comets came alive and scored on the Hurricanes on a short pass and breakaway their goalie wasn't able to handle. The half ended 1-1. The Comets came out extremely strong in the second half, tallying quite a few shots and displaying a solid defense. The Comets struck first with a nice passing series, that tallied a goal from the far right outside. Unfortunatley, the Hurricanes were able to put one in on an indirect kick, that was passed in front and the Comets were unable to clear. This was a hard fought match where neither team deserved to lose!
Comets vs. Mount Laurel
This was a superb game for the Comets and the Strikers, as well. It was a hotly contested match, that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The half ended 0-0. The second half went scoreless until, with 5 minutes left in the game, the Strikers were awarded a direct kick,on which they were able to put in our net. Their second goal was a let-down goal on our girls part, feeling that the game was ended in that way. Our girls played a great game and should be extremely proud of the WAY they played not the score. Congrats, Strikers.
State Cup game vs. Middletown Avalanche
This game will be played on Saturday, Sept.22,2001 at 2:30pm at Valleybrook Soccer Complex on field #2.
