Comets Advance to 2003 Region I Summer League Semifinals
The Comets had a fantastic summer playing in the premier bracket of the Region 1 Summer League against the following excellent competition: Boston Bolts, Boston Breakers, Branchburg Blizzard, FC Bombers, Philadelphia Charge 90, and Thistle FC. The Comets finished 2nd in their bracket and advanced to the leagues semifinals where they lost a close 1-2 game to DC United in OT. The Comets enjoyed having Alegra, Ashley, Kaitlin, Maggie and Maura play for the team this summer and wish them well in their fall season.
Comets Voorhees Memorial Classic Tournament Finalist
The Comets played well in the Premier Flight at the Voorhees Memorial Classic Tournament finishing first in their bracket against the teams local rival, the Haddonfield Hurricanes, Battle of Monmouth, Hunterdon Sonics and Nether Providence Hunters. The Comets advanced to the tournaments championship game along with the Voorhees Wildcats who finished first in their bracket. Unfortunately, inclement weather prevented this championship game from being played, and the Voorhees Wildcats were named Champions based upon bonus points with the Comets being named finalist.
Comets 3 B.O.M. 0
The girls, tired from extensive and eternal driving, pulled it together to win big vs.BOM Breakers. Dominating much of the game, the girls scored 2 goals in 7 minutes. One goal came from a successful corner kick and another on a great cross in front of the net. This is the way the first half ended, 2-0. In the second half, the girls scored on another beautiful cross and head ball. With a few more chances to score, the game ended 3-0. Great job, girls!
COMETS TIE T/E EXTREME
Comets tied the T/E Extreme in a very exciting match on Saturday, April 19,2003 in T/E. After playing great soccer for 35 minutes, the Comets let in a goal in the first half, due to a communication miscue. This did not deter them in the second half. Knowing they played well gave them determination to score a goal of their own on a great cross and headball goal! With that inspiration, the Comets proceded to dominate the rest of the second half of soccer. Even though they were unable to capitolize on several shots, they left the field knowing it was a good game between two good teams!
FIRST GAME FINALLY PLAYED!
The Comets came out with a win in their first official league game of the Spring season,1-0 against the Montgomery Rowdies. his is a team they had played last week at the Jefferson Cup, with the same outcome. The girls looked great, the weather was great and let's hope the season gets underway with no further delays! Go Comets!
Comets Excel at Prestigious Jefferson Cup
The TBAA Comets went undefeated at the Jefferson Cup. They tied the McLean United 2-2 on Saturday am in a very exciting game. The second game proved just as exciting with the Comets winning 1-0 over the Montgomery Rowdies. On Sunday, the girls met the SAC United from MD and again walked away with a win, 1-0. Due to a point differential tie breaker, McLean United went to the semis. This did not diminish what our girls came to prove. They went undefeated, played great soccer and left Virginia knowing they'd see many great weekends there in their future.
Weather Alert:Cold temperatures, Wind and Comets
The Comets played a great weekend of soccer at Wall Fall Classic. On Saturday morning, they met up with the Lacey squad for the first time and the fierce winds dictated the match(as it did for all matches on Saturday). The Comets were able to score against the wind in the second half to end the match 1-0. Our game under the lights proved to be quite a challenge for all the players. Our girls scored 2 goals with the help of skill and the wind and the Centennial team was able to counter the same in the second half. The girls left the field frozen and tied up.
On Sunday, even though still cold, the Comets were able to play well and possess the ball without the wind. The Comets came out on top against the Bergen Blackhawks 1-0. This gave them enough points, in a very tough division, to advance to the championship vs. Thistle.
After a long wait for a field and a slow start, The Comets were able to settle down and play a fast paced game of soccer against a good Thistle squad. Thistle scored the first 2 goals and the Comets answered with one of their own. With the final 5 minutes ticking down, the Comets had quite a few chances, but couldn't capitalize. It was a well played game by both teams and the u13g championship game proved to be an exciting, fast paced and skillful match between two very good sides. Congratulations to Thistle on the win and great job to the Comets!

COMETS WIN TBAA TOURNEY
The Comets came on strong the second week in a row to win another tourney. The first match was played against the Wasington Twp. Wildfire (National division in SJGSL). The girls came out strong, never looked back and won the game 5-0. The second game was played against the Marlton Magic (Also National division in SJGSL). Our Comets did let in 1 goal, but were able to score 6 to put the game away.
In the last match for the championship, the Comets were matched up against their rivals from SJGSL, the Haddonfield Hurricanes. Once again this proved to be a great game and our fans definately recieved their money's worth. After coming out slow in the first half and giving up 2 goals, the Comets pulled their act together, got hungry and came back out with intensity. They poured on the heat and scored two goals, one with 1:11 on the clock, to tie the match. A breakaway at the end of the game for the Comets came up short, but a tie was all the girls needed to win the championship! Great job, Comets!
COMETS WIN ENDLESS SUMMER TOURNEY
The Comets came up big again! The girls played extremely well against former sjgsl rivals, the Voorhees Wildcats. The girls came out on top, by scoring 3 goals to the Wildcats 1. In the second game of the day, the Comets faced the Souderton team. The girls again dominated play to win 2-0.
On Sunday, the Comets came out to play the Medford Strikers X-Treme. Though it wasn't their finest game, the Comets played well enough to win 2-0. The second game for the Comets was the Nether Providence team. The Comets had already clinched the championship, and they won on a last-minute goal, to make it 3-2.
They played like champions, won like champions and would like to thank all their competition for an excellent weekend of soccer. Good luck to all this fall season!
