TAP Milan played an unbelievable 11v11 tournament this past weekend with only 12 players.  With several players missing, they still managed to go undefeated with 16 GF and only 5 against with only 1 sub.  The semi-final match was hard fought and with 3 yellow cards and 2 red cards they managed to secure their spot in the finals.  With literally no substitutions available they rallied themselves together and were determined to win it for their redcarded teammate.  It was a remarkable show of sportsmanship by young players.  With all odds against them and coupled with fatigue, they pulled out a 4-2 victory to bring home the cup!   Well played boys!

A special thank you goes out to Ezer, from SSC in NJ who guest played with us!  You were awesome and we truly appreciate you coming out to play with us. 

TAP Milan played in the Volkswagen Jr. Masters US Finals here in Washington DC.  They went undefeated in round-robin play with 11 GF and 0 GA only to be upset by PDA Pele 3-2 in the semi-final round.  It was a great experience and a lot of fun for the boys.  Best of luck to PDA in South Africa!

TAP Milan had an outstanding run this past Labor Day weeking defeating both U12 and U13 competitors in the OBGC U13 division.  They played up a year to continue their 11v11 training. The semi-final match was a tough battle for them against the Baltimore Bay Hurricanes but they provailed with a 4-3 win in overtime pentalty kicks.  Their ultimate win in the finals gave them enough points to earn the #1 ranking in the state of Virginia!

Our newest member of the squad Oliver spent an exciting week in Liverpool England attending the Liverpool FC Academy soccer school the first of August.  He has no doubt picked up some exceptional skills to bring to the team to enhance an already spectacular squad! 

TAP played yet another outstanding weekend of soccer in Fort Dix, NJ.  They went undefeated with a record of 24 GF and only 2 GA to clinch a spot in the Volkswagen Junior Masters US Finals here in DC, October 17-18.  The winner of the US Finals wins an all expense paid trip for their team to South Africa to compete in an international friendly with 12 other countries throughout the world during the 2010 World Cup!

One down, one to go!  The road to South Africa is looking good so far.

TAP Milan played incredible soccer over the weekend and it showed with each passing game.  It was teamwork at its best as they went solidly undefeated (4-0) to earn a spot in the final match.   The boys proved to be real leaders as they rallied themselves together before the match and did their warm-up on their own like European professionals.  They needed little help in the finals as their confidence and determination showed.  They went on to clinch the championship with a 6 - 4 victory over their opponents the U12 (rising U13) Eagles.

TAP Milan won the 2009 US Club Soccer Regionals in Pittsgrove, NJ.  This was the teams first ever attempt at playing U11 and they outplayed their competetion in every match.  TAP played the Matchfit Chelsea Academy FC out of NY in the final match and was down 2 goals going into the second half.  The boys settled down and stepped up their game to battle back for an ultimate 4-2 victory! 

A special thank you goes out to the players from Arlington Impact Red & VSA Heat Blue for rounding out the roster and providing a spectacluar show of talent.

TAP Milan took 2nd place over the memorial day weekend in the Potomac Memorial Tournament.  After a hard fought battle to get into the finals, TAP Milan met their match again with the MSC Falcons.  Despite the heat, both teams brought their A games to the pitch and went at it with a vengence ending the game in a tie.  After an even more intense two-10-minute half overtime, the game was still tied taking the boys into a PK shootout.  After an exciting show of PKs, TAP Milan fell short to the Falcons.  It was Premier level soccer at its best!  

Job well done boys - we could not have asked for a better show of sportsmanship and play.

Coach Roby lead his two youngest teams to an outstanding start to the fall season.  TAP Barcelona (U14) and TAP Milan (U11) played exceptionally well in the OBGC and won both of their brackets and finals to clinch the tournament championship!   TAP Milan went on the win the prestigious Bethesda Annual Thanksgiving Tournament as well. 

Before the season even started, TAP Milan played up in the U12 bracket at the Capitol Cup and had a fantastic tournament winning the tournament with exceptional play.

Two of our boys Nico and Jeffrey were members of the Virginia Gunners that participated in Dick’s 2008 3v3 Kick-It World Championships.  The tournament was held January 19-21 at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fl. 

The Gunners qualified for the tournament after winning the Northeast Atlantic Regional Tournament last summer in East Brunswick, NJ.   Out of a pool of 58 teams that had entered to play at the world championships, the Gunners advanced to the championship round after winning seven of their eight games.  They fell short of the world championship title after suffering a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Dynamo K from Plano, Texas, in an overtime battle. 

Congratulations to the boys as well as their teammates Roger, Jack and Will from the Arlington Impact Red on a great tournament and 2nd place finish.

TAP finished as a finalist in the Arlington Invitational with 3 wins 1 loss.  The boys played well, but with such a tough bracket, fatigue took over and they fell short in an overtime 4-3 defeat to the host team the Arlington Impact Red. 

TAP bounced back at the MSI March Madness Tournament. The boys fought hard and weathered a minor setback with one loss to the Bethesda Lions in regular round-robin play.   They secured a win in the semi-final round to advance to the championship match where they once again met up with the Bethesda Lions.   Milans defensive game was unmatched this time and they prevailed with a 2-1 upset for the championship trophy!

WAY TO GO MILAN! 

TAP Milan, TAP Barcelona (U13), and TAP Santos (U17) competed in the Kirkwood Boys Premier tournament this past weekend. (June 14th & 15th)

All 3 teams totally dominated their brackets with TAP Barcelona and TAP Santos unltimately clinching the championships in their respective divisions.

Although the Milan boys were a little sad that there was no championship match for their age group they didn't show it on the pitch.   The boys played beautifully and showed that they are definately future state cup champions in the making.
