The SYAG Ed Rall Memorial Tournament began in memory of firefighter and longtime SYAG coach Edward Rall. Eddie was an 18 year veteran of the FDNY as a member of Rescue 2, who paid the supreme sacrifice on September 11, 2001. He was a beloved husband and father and a devoted SYAG coach, spending many years improving the SYAG league and its players. This tournament is in Eddie’s honor and to the memory of all those who lost their lives on that tragic day.
SYAG has retired his #2 on all the uniform shirts our players wear in both our baseball and softball programs. As an additional way to honor his memory, all of the SYAG players now wear a #2 on their hats. The League also takes pride in helping two graduating seniors with a scholarship with the funds coming from the net proceeds of the tournament.
On behalf of the Rall family and the Board of Directors of SYAG, we wish to thank you in advance for participating in the 8th Annual Ed Rall Tournament. Hoping to make this year the best and biggest tournament we’ve ever had.
