One of coach Trinidad's ex-players (Andrea Padia) who is in the Navy on the USS Abraham Lincoln was lucky enough to get her picture with President Bush. Particpating in College Sports
If your daughter participates in high school athletics and wishes to continue in college, you may want to check if the colleges your daughter is interested in are governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility rules.

The NCAA governs athletics at 975+ colleges and universities in the United States. NCAA schools are classified into three divisions: I, II, and III. Schools in Division I compete at the "major college" level and their athletic programs must meet strict requirements; the requirements for Division II and III schools are less strict than those for Division I schools, which may make the athletic programs seem less competitive. If your daughter wants to participate in athletics as a college freshman at any Division I or II school, she must register and be certified by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

Your daughter should ask her high school guidance counselor for clearinghouse registration materials. If the school does not have these forms, the counselor can call the clearinghouse at 877-262-1492 to get free copies. Your teenager then completes the student-release form and mails or faxes the white copy to the clearinghouse, along with a registration fee. The yellow & pink copies are for the high school. Your daughters high school must send the yellow copy, along with an official copy of his high school transcript,to the clearinghouse. After graduation, the high school must send the clearinghouse a copy of your daughter's final transcript that confirms graduation from high school.

The NCAA requires that high school students complete certain core-course requirements to be eligible as a student athlete in college. There are also very strict rules about how colleges can recruit student athletes for admission. Your daughter may want to call the clearinghouse to receive materials explaining all the rules and procedures (ask for the NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete") or she can go to the NCAA web site: www.ncaa.org.

The NCAA stresses the importance of finding a college that is a good fit for your teenager, not only athletically, but academically as well. Make sure your teenager looks at graduation rates for athletes in her sport at each school she is interested in. What matters in the long run is your daughter's college education.

How To Get Colleges Softball Programs Interested
IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!! TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ, IT WILL BE WORTH YOUR WHILE!!!!

Do you know that the NCAA does not allow College Softball Coaches to intiate the first verbal (off-campus) contact with a player they are interested in recruiting until July 1st, prior to the player's Senior Year in High School??

Now ask yourself, how do they know who they want to recruit on July 1st???

In most cases, College Softball Coaches begin their contact with players they are interested in who: 1) have sent them "Letters of Interest" and a detailed profile over the past several years 2) they have seen play at tournaments 3) they have seen play at Camps/Clinics sponsored by the University 4) they have seen play via a Skills Video

Too often College Softball Coaches do not know of players who would be interested in their program, and miss an opportunity to gain a scholarship player. IF COLLEGE COACHES DO NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU, THEY CAN NOT RECRUIT YOU!!!!

So, how do you get noticed and when do you start??

List below are THE THREE "KEYS" TO GAINING EXPOSURE!!!

STEP 1------BEGIN A COLLEGE SEARCH AND SEND "LETTERS OF INTEREST" AND A PROFILE TO COLLEGE SOFTBALL PROGRAMS AS EARLY AS YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR!!!!!

The NCAA allows for College Softball Coaches to respond to any written request from an intersted player, AT ANY TIME, EVEN PRIOR TO THE JULY 1st DATE.----------The NCAA also allows College Softball Coaches to talk with any player WHO CONTACTS THEM, prior to the July 1st date.------The NCAA allows College Softball Coaches to talk with players at CAMPS/CLINICS sponsored by the University that a player attends

STEP 2-----INFORM COLLEGE SOFTBALL COACHES WHERE THEY CAN SEE YOU PLAY, IN PERSON

Too often College Softball Coaches attend National, Regional, State, and Local fast pitch tournaments with no specific knowledge of which players will be attending the tournament. Many tournaments have over 1,000 players in attendance.

Now ask yourself, wouldn't it be nice if they already knew in advance which players they want to take a look at???

www.fastpitchrecruit.com provides players and College Softball Coaches our exclusive "NOW PLAYING AT" forum, which lists player profiles who will be attending National, Regional, State, and Local events. The "NOW PLAYING AT" forum is regularly reviewed by over 600 College Softball Coaches. These Coaches can print the player profiles and take with them to tournaments they will be attending.

STEP 3---COMPLETE A "SKILLS VIDEO"

By the end of your Freshman year you should have a skills video. It should be updated by the middle of your Junior year.

Nearly every College Softball Coach who responds to a "Letter of Interest" will ask for a "Skills Video" of the player. Many College Programs have limited budgets and recruit players based only on a "Skills Video" of a player.

With the high cost of making tapes, postage, and your time in sending tapes, there has to be a better way.

www.fastpitchrecruit.com has the answer!!! "STREAMING, ON-LINE, SKILLS VIDEOS" which are viewable by over 600 College Softball Coaches, 24/7, 365 days per year. Now, even College Coaches who you have not contacted can see your video!!!! How is that for exposure!!!!

START GAINING EXPOSURE TODAY!!!!!

www.fastpitchrecruit.com provides all the "tools" you need to get noticed!!!!

Take advantage of a TRIAL MEMBERSHIP, AT NO COST to see all the "tools" provided.

Complete a profile, view our member College Softball Coaches, review Academic and Athletic information of over 1200 Colleges with Softball Programs, use our prepared "Letters of Interst" to send to College Coaches, and post your "Now Playing At" schedule.

Fruits of Coaching

Coach Trinidad is currently coaching in his 25th year of girls Fast pitch softball. Starting in 1983 at El Rio Bobby Sox in Tucson, AZ. There he coached many young girls on regular season teams as well as All star teams. "In all the years of coaching Bobby Sox, ASA and High School, all I have are memories of teaching young ladies the game of softball. Many go on to play in college/accept a scholarship for a another sport or pursue their college education through academics. They always reminisce of playing the team sport of softball as an experience they never forget."

One of the many special young ladies that coach Trinidad had the pleasure of teaching the game of softball is Tairia Flowers. At first a young Tairia (a native Tucsonan) began her softball career in the outfield. But that was just not suited for her, she needed to stay busy. That year our team needed a catcher, so Tairia volunteered, thus starting a her career. She excelled at position and made the roster to the All star teams for the next 4 years. Notice was taken by an Elite ASA team called the 14U Arizona Cats at the time coched by Clark Enterline & Gale Bundrick. She stayed in the Cats organization through the 16u team playing for Mel Byrge. She then was recruited by the Phoenix Storm, played for Rick Beach, and excelled there. Tairia eventually was offered a scholarship to attend UCLA. She made the Womens Olympic teams and played in many parts of the world. Her determination, dedication and just being a great young lady eventually paid off as she now is an Olympic Gold Medalists for the USA Olympic softball team. What a great accomplishment for her, If there was ever a role model that young softball players should follow, it IS Tairia Flowers.

Congratulations T ... for winning the GOLD at the Olympics in Athens and Silver in Bejing!

We are all BLESSED to know you
Lots of Love T ... Coach Trinidad

Special Guests for AZ Sunfire !
The Arizona Sunfire players, parents and coaching staff received a special visit by Olympic Gold Medalists Tairia Flowers and Natasha Watley before their practice Wednesday February 15. Tairia & Natasha were in Tucson to practice with the USA National Team that week at Hillenbrand Stadium on the U of A Campus. Tairia & Natasha spoke to the Sunfire players and parents on their hard work, teamwork, sacrifices and commitment they both have endured in their softball careers in making their dreams come true. After speaking to the team, Tairia & Natasha took even more time in their busy schedule to take pictures with each individual player, team picture and also signed autographs as well.

To Tairia & Natasha,
We want to Thank you from our hearts for taking time in your busy schedule to speak to our players and parents. Your words do make a difference.
Thank You Coach Trinidad
