The Stafford Basketball Association has COMPLETED its 21st season. It is a league for boys and girls grades 2nd through 10th. (Note: 9th & 10th graders who play on a high school team are ineligible to participate in recreation basketball.)

Stafford Basketball Association does not have any summer programs. Our season runs from November (when practices begin) through February/March. Registration (online and mail-in) will begin in August for the upcoming 2012-13 Season. We will also have an on-site registration in September (TBA). As usual, our deadline for registration will be October 1st. Please check back for further details in the summer. Please note that in our continued effort to "go green," we will not be mailing out paper forms/registration packets. You will be able to register online, by mail (forms can be downloaded) and in person at an on-site registration. We hope you enjoy your summer!

*** LEAGUE INFORMATION 2011-12 ***
PRACTICES FOR DIVISIONS 3rd-10th GRADES: Practices are held Mondays through Thursdays. Each team will get a 1 hour practice each week in a 6pm, 7pm or 8pm time slot. All teams have 1 practice before Thanksgiving. Teams practicing Wednesday or Thursday nights will begin practicing November 16th & 17th. Teams practicing Monday or Tuesday nights will begin practicing November 21st & 22nd. All teams will resume practicing after Thanksgiving.
GAMES FOR DIVISIONS 3rd-10th GRADES: Games are 1 hour long and are played on Saturdays, except the G3/4 Division, which plays on Friday nights. Games begin Saturday December 3rd (except for G3/4, which begins Friday, December 2nd.) There are 10 weeks of games, with the regular season ending Saturday, February 18th for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th grades (except for Girls 3/4 Division ending Friday, February 17th). The 10th game for all other divisions will begin with the single loss elimination playoff round which will continue each week leading up to Championship Saturday, March 10th.
The following is a summary of game "STARTING TIMES," amount of teams in each division and the school gym where games are held; e.g., Girls 7th-10th grade division has 6 teams that play 3 games each Saturday at the Oxycocus School Gym. Games begin at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm:
NOTE: 2nd Grade Division (please see below under "2nd Grade Division")
G3/4: (8 teams) 4 games: 7pm & 8pm (Friday nights - Ocean Acres)
B3/4: (10 teams) 5 games: 9am-1pm (McKinley)
G5-7: (8 teams) 4 games: 9am-Noon (Oxycocus)
B5/6: (14 teams) 7 games: 9am-3pm (Intermediate)
G7-10: (6 teams) 3 games: 1pm-3pm (Oxycocus)
B7/8: (8 teams) 4 games: Noon-3pm (Ocean Acres)
PLAYOFFS: Playoffs begin the 10th week for B5/6, G5-7, B7/8, and G7-10. There are no playoffs for the 3/4 Division, which is a developmental division - only time is shown and no score on the scoreboard during games.
CHAMPIONSHIP DAY: Tentative date is Saturday, March 10th.
2nd GRADE DIVISION: This division is different from the other divisions, as it is only held on Saturdays for a 1 hour session at 9am or 10am at the Ocean Acres Gym. There are 8 teams and 4 sessions each Saturday - 2 teams at 9am and 2 teams at 10am. This division begins Saturday, December 3rd. The first few weeks are 1 hour practices, which can be changed into a half hour practice/half hour scrimmage (if both head coaches sharing the gym are interested in doing so by weeks 2 or 3). Games begin after the New Year, but no score is kept - only a clock. A referee will be assigned to each game. Season ends Saturday, February 18th.
