Sheafe Road School and Oak Grove School Practice rules

To the Parents of CYO participants,  During last year’s CYO program, there were some problems at Sheafe Road school that we need to avoid this year. I was made aware of the incidents by the Principal, Mr. Miele who was quite upset. In order to prevent a reoccurrence the following actions are to be taken for both Sheafe Road School and Oak Grove School:

  1.  Please read the School and Gym rules from the Wappingers School district found at the link below.
  2. Each coach will assign a parent hall monitor for each practice. As a hall monitor,  please arrive early and be the last one to leave. Please ensure that children (CYO participants and non-participants/siblings) do not loiter in the hall ways. Please also make sure the children pick up after themselves; no bottles or clothing should be left behind in the gym.
  3. When dropping off your child, please escort him/her to the gym. Please park in an appropriate area and walk your child directly into the gym. If the coach or hall monitor has not arrived, please wait with your child until they do.  Do not just drop your child off at the front door.
  4. The Coach and hall monitor are to make sure the children stay in the gym during practice; The only reason for leaving the gym would be to use the bathroom or get water.
  5. If you and any of your children decide to stay and watch practice, your children are to remain at your side. Please do not let them roam around the gym or the school; Please have them stay off the gym mats and don’t touch any other equipment in the gym.
  6. When leaving, you will need to either pick up your children in the gym or they will be outside if the coach or parent monitor has escorted the team out of the school. No child is to be left unattended in the school.
  7. Oak Grove has a no drinks in the Gym policy. Please leave all bottles outside the gym door.

I think these actions will eliminate the problems that occurred last year. I hope I have your full support. If we loose use of the public school gyms, we have no CYO basketball program.

Sincerely,

 Joe Manz
