Intramural Game Rules
- The CYO Pledge is to be recited before the start of every game.
- Playing time for all players must be equitable. The Youth Division will split up into 2 teams; More skilled players are the “A” Team, less skilled players are the “B” Team. In the first half the “A” Team plays the first 4 minutes of each quarter; the “B” Team plays the 2nd 4 minutes. In the second half, the “B” team plays the first 4 minutes and the “A” team plays the 2nd 4 minutes. Everyone should play about the same amount of time.
- Youth coaches playing the first game will referee the second game. Youth coaches playing the second game will referee the first game. Biddy coaches will referee their own games.
- The 3 point play will not be used.
- Time periods -all games will be 8 minute quarters (but this may be adjusted based on gym time and number of teams)
- Biddy games will use the "youth" size ball and the 8 foot baskets. Youth games will use the "mens" size ball and the 10 foot baskets.
- The foul line shall be 12 ft. from the backboard for those in 2nd through 4th grade. 5th grade and up use the regulation, 15ft foul line. The full key will be utilized to determine the three second violation. Only 2 offensive players and 4 defensive players may line up on the foul lane during foul shots.
- In the Youth division the front court press will take effect only in the last 4 minutes of the fourth quarter. When a team is 15 points ahead in any game, it will be illegal to use a front court press. The defense must remain behind the offensive half court line for the rest of the time.
- For Biddy, Defense must remain inside the foul line extended for the first 3 quarters. There will be no front court pressing during any part of the game.
- Fast breaks can occur for the full 4th quarter in Biddy and Youth. For the 1st through 3rd quarters, the ball should be held after a rebound until the defense is set up.
- Three time outs are allowed during the game.
- Dunking is NOT permitted in any CYO division, not during warm-ups nor during games.
- Team players and up to two coaches only may sit on bench.
- No shot clocks will be utilized.
- Bonus situation begins with the 7th team foul. The `one and one' bonus is the only bonus that will be administered in CYO basketball.
- Players shall remove ALL jewelry prior to start of game. Players are NOT permitted to wear tape over any jewelry (including earrings). Players either REMOVE ALL JEWELRY or THEY DO NOT PARTICIPATE in game. Players are not permitted to wear sneakers with flashing or steady lights.
- A player or coach who is ejected from a game because of abusive language or behavior will be suspended one game for the first offense and will face possible expulsion from league on second offense. Players involved in a fight will be suspended for three (3) games and depending on severity of incident may face expulsion. Second offense will result in immediate expulsion. A coach involved in a fight will face immediate expulsion upon consultation with Pastor, County Director and Advisory Board.
- It is the home team's responsibility to keep the official scorebook and possession arrow. It is the away team's responsibility to keep the Score Clock.
