Sparks (Lightning) - September 2004 to August 2005
September, October & November 2004
The Sparks first take shape as the team that we know through December 2005. They played in the Fall Metro League at the Playing Field (Vetta) and competed in the 4th Grade Girls Division.
December 2004, January & February 2005
The girls play in the Winter Rockwood League, playing up in age against 5th graders. They only lost one game and finished 9-1 capturing first place honors.
January, February & March 2005
The team goes undefeated in the Winter Metro League 4th Grade Girls Division finishing with a 10-0 record.
March 2005
The Sparks enter their first tournament the MAYB St. Louis Tournament. The girls played quite well and took home the Championship. You can read more about their accomplishment listed under "Tournament Results".
April & May 2005
The team returns to the Playing Field (Vetta) and competes in the Spring Metro League. They play up in age against 5th graders and finish with a 6-2 record.
June 2005
The girls compete in their second MAYB tournament, but this time they enter the 5th grade girls division. They are the only 4th grade girls team competing and find the going tough, but finish in fourth place. More details can be found listed under "Tournament Results".
June & July 2005
Once again it is more games for the Sparks playing up once again in the Summer Metro League against 5th graders. The girls win 6 out of 8 games and are gaining confidence with every game played against older girls.
Sunday, July 24
Show-Me State Games
The girls competed in the Missouri Show-Me State Games in Columbia this weekend. They entered in the 4th Grade Division 1 Girls Basketball competition and finished with the Silver Medal. See "Tournament Results" for more details.
Friday, August 12
MOVIN ON UP
Those are the words that describe our team. The girls have moved up in the Missouri Girls Basketball Rankings. They are now No. 3 overall, look out Missouri here we come.
Monday, August 15
New Name
Sparks are now to be known as the ST. LOUIS LIGHTNING. Be on the look out as they may strike a gym near you!
Sunday, August 21
Team attends Cardinal Game
The girls attended the Cardinal baseball game on August 19th due to the generosity of Mr. Valentine. As you can see they had a great time. Kudos to the Valentine family!!!
