Receive SYFL Updates Right to Your Cell Phone

The Sparta Youth Football League is now on Twitter. Through Twitter, you can receive schedule updates to your cell phone. To do this all you need to do is:

  1. Create your own Twitter account. Its free, you only need an email address and/or a cell phone.

  2. After you create your account, click on the link "Find People" at the top of your Twitter page.

  3. In the search box, type "SpartaYouthFB" and click the "Search" button

  4. Click on the "Follow" button

  5. You are now following SpartaYouthFB

  6. "Tweets" SpartaYouthFB will now appear on your Twitter home page.

 

To receive messages on you cell phone:

  1. click on the link "Settings" at the top of your Twitter home page

  2. click on the link "Devices"

  3. Follow the steps to register your phone with your Twitter account.

  4. click on the link for SpartaYouthFB (http://twitter.com/SpartaYouthFB)

  5. in the "Settings" column click on the phone icon for SpartaYouthFB, it should turn green

  6. you will now receive "tweets" from SpartaYouthFB.

 

The weekly schedule will be delivered in two text messages or "tweets".

Note: Even though Twitter is free, you will still be billed for text messages from you cell phone company.

TeText message rates vary based on your cell phone plan

 

When rocket schedule is released, it will be "Tweeted" in this format:

  1. the first number is the Sparta team number

  2. second letter is whether the game is Home or Away

  3. game time, A is AM, P is PM

  4. Opponent, some abreviations are Coop=Coopersville, Rfd=Rockford, CP=Comstock Park, EGR=East Grand Rapids, etc,.

Here is an example:

1 H 2:30P  Coop

2 A 10:30A Coop

3 A 8:30A  Rfd

4 A 4:00P  CP

5 H 10:00A EGR

6 H 1:00P  YSA-KP

7 A 1:00P  Lwl

8 H 11:30A GRC

9 A 10:00A EGR

10 H 8:30A Rfd

 

As always, the full schedule is posted on the league website. If there are changes to the posted schedule, these changes will also be "tweeted".

 

The league "Tweets" are also available through an RSS feed just add this link to your preferred news reader.
